So I was supposed to go to a interview at Maccas today. I didn't end up going.

Drop The Baby 05-09-2006 04:41 AM

There will be an announcement regarding Lightyear on tonight's Lock Up between 9pm and 11pm on Radio One.

I think they're reforming but as far as i know it's only for one gig in Derby.

I will almost certainly try to go

Where'd you get that information from?

coheneran 05-09-2006 10:20 AM

I've never heard of them. Will they come to London and are they worth seeing?

LIGHTYEAR REFORM FOR ONE-OFF UK TOUR IN JULY!

So we got this phone call from Chas from LIGHTYEAR the other day to tell us that the band were coming back for a one off tour...we thought 'nah, they're joking' the devils... but then we got sent through the dates....so here they are, that's a bit of shocker eh?

LIGHTYEAR UK TOUR JULY 2006
THURS 20th JULY - BRISTOL BIER KELLER
FRI 21st JULY - YEOVIL SKI LODGE
SAT 22nd JULY - BIRMINGHAM CARLING ACADEMY 2
SUN 23rd JULY - BRIGHTON ENGINE ROOMS
MON 24th JULY - LEICESTER CHARLOTTE
TUE 25th JULY - MANCHESTER JILLY'S ROCKWORLD
WED 26th JULY - NEWCASTLE CARLING ACADEMY 2
THU 27th JULY - NORTH BERWICK COMMUNITY CENTRE
FRI 28th JULY - SHEFFIELD THE PLUG
SAT 29th JULY - LONDON MEAN FIDDLER
SUN 30th JULY - DERBY FIRST FLOOR
LIGHTYEAR were one of the most influential bands of the UK ska-punk boom of the turn of 2000/2001 which saw bands like Farse, Capdown, [spunge], Jesse James tearing up the country at live shows that often had higher turnouts than some of their "more famous" US contemporaries.

Out of all these bands it was LIGHTYEAR's anarchic, chaotic and hilarious live shows that have remained in many people's memories. Everyone has "a Lightyear story" usually involving bodily fluids, nakedness, insertions, dance routines with sticks, anchor tattoos, half beards or a maybe a trip to the hospital.

Tours with GOLDFINGER, OPM (who!), 311 (why?), MAD CADDIES, and STEVO from JACKASS (not such a good idea in hindsight) mix in with Household Name Summer Tours, Smash It Up Tour and a lot of Lightyear/Captain Everything! dates.

Their appearance on the Concrete Jungle Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals was unreal (it was all a bit too much for Chas' stomach in Reading...) as well as the legendary gig in the Reading Festival campsite the next year (gazebo! etc) all culminating with the massive final show in Derby in September 2003 to 1300 fans from across the UK.

Then there were the records...a split with Evil Macaroni...all together "Spot Check!", the Just Another Demonstration CDR that brought us the amazing "Kid Dynamite" tune...then the albums on Household Name
: "Call of the Weasel Clan" in 2001 containing every poppy punk ska anthem you could shake your shorts at, like this one: ('3 Basics' [MP3] from "Call of the Weasel Clan" [Haus044])
and then the final album in 2003 - the cunningly titled "Chris Gentleman's Hairdresser and Railway Bookshop" named after a real shop in Derby (like 'Nuff Cuts' [MP3] from "Chris Gentlemen's Hairdresser & Railway Bookshop" [Haus060] )
. [/QUOTE]

That's the e-mail i got from HHN after the initial rumour was confirmed. Like a c'unt i am in Australia for the London date and am gutted but from the others i will be going to at least the Brighton one

[QUOTE=coheneran]No, who are they?[/QUOTE]

Really great band from Austrailia. I was just wondering, because they have a lot of punk influence.

coheneran 05-09-2006 01:43 PM

I wish I could do that in maths. One on one lessons sucks.

Hagbard Celine 05-09-2006 01:51 PM

I'da liked 1:1 math (or any, really) lessons. It's a lot easier for me to learn things from conversation as opposed to listening to a lecture.

coheneran 05-09-2006 01:52 PM

One on one is fine, but during the winter I fell asleep a couple of time. It's embarassing falling asleep while another person is talking directly to you.

RetiredAt21 05-09-2006 02:12 PM

Dystopia is the best band ever.

AIRIC 05-09-2006 02:12 PM

Dystopia are amazing. One of my favorite bands for sure.

RetiredAt21 05-09-2006 02:14 PM

I love the song Hands That Mold. It's really brutal and the lyrics are great.

Brain Toad 05-09-2006 03:36 PM

It was boring being in the math lab. I spent most of my time on Wikipedia. I didn't want to keep looking here because I didn't want to get singled out for not homework or some ****, though I don't think they'd care.

And math lab =! math class. Math lab is just a building for studying math and getting help from some tutors. You are required to have 34 hours of it a semester for most math classes. I need 3 hours and 7 minutes more. I got 2 hours a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today I didn't have homework, so I just ****ed around.
