anybody else have the problem of setting apart time to do youre homework, telling yourself you're gonna do it, and just not being able to do it?
i was planning on doing homework tonight cause its math and i really need to and even somewhat want to, but i just...........cant
i see something like a guitar, a tv, or the computer, and it just never gets done

**** this

Liebensaft 05-08-2006 06:35 PM

Me too.

coheneran 05-08-2006 06:37 PM

The hardest thing to do is start something. Get the pencil and pad out, and it'll flow from there. I spent about six months thinking I have writers' block and as soon as I sat down and forced myself to write I came out with a tonne of stuff.

ibanezman575 05-08-2006 06:43 PM

i really think i have add or something
but yea, starting is half the battle
i think im gonna start soon

but then again math is last tomorrow so i can do it during lunch/class...

see??? i did it again!! i put it off for later

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 06:46 PM

ADD doesn't exist as much as they say it does. It's a socially constructed disease developed from our school structure.

ibanezman575 05-08-2006 06:47 PM

i know, im just compulsively lazy

Then shut the fuck up and prove to me and to yourself that you can do shit you want if you put yourself into it. You can afford to miss thirty minutes of MX babble can't you? You'll have all night to read the half a page of posts that developed while you were away.

AIRIC 05-08-2006 06:49 PM

I basically don't do homework at home and I'm getting through school with good grades.

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 06:51 PM

I rarely did my homework in high school and got decent grades. Only time when I got bad grades is when I got really fed up with my teachers or they screwed me over.

Now I have to work harder to get myself to do homework (especially reading) since I've built up a lazy routine.

Speaking of which, I have an essay due Thursday, should do some more work on it tonight or tomorrow night.

I don't think so. I've watched a friend of mine in an exam once, after I'd convinced him to stop taking Ritalin for school (because I also believed it was pretty much BS). He took out his rubber, sharpener, pencil and a pen, and started straight off. After about a quarter of an hour, he picked up his sharpener, sharpened his pencil, put it down, and then started playing with his rubber and pencil, stabbing it into the rubber. I jabbed him in the side, and he looked at me, then got back to work, and after no more than three minutes he started doing it again! This kept happening for an hour and a half, and I just let him get on with it after forty minutes of jabbing him. He has no trouble concentrating on Ritalin though. I talked to him about it and he said that what happens when he loses concentration is like, if you imagine you're holding a sweaty pen, and you're gripping it tight so it won't slip away, and as you're writing, your hand slowly slips lower down the pen, until it slips completely. It sounds bad. I think Ritalin is pretty good as long as the user analyses his or her own behaviour before starting on it, to see if they really need it or if there's something they can do.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist at all, I'm just saying it's overdiagnosed. Truth there is people who actually have trouble keeping focus, just like dyslexia and any other learning disability exists. We could also rectify the fact that medication is needed if we change our school structure and didn't foce people to sit doing menial tasks for hours on end, when even the person with a perfectly fine attention span gets bored.

POINTLESS5448 05-08-2006 07:05 PM

i just do my homework in school so i have something to do.

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 07:08 PM

That's why I do my math homework most times, just to have something to do.

I completely agree with that. My maths tutor told me that the human mind gets bored with something it doesn't enjoy after forty minutes or so and loses attention. She makes me take a ten minute break every forty minutes, and I promptly get her into a political discussion and make it last for as long as possible.

ibanezman575 05-08-2006 07:17 PM

i love when that happens
one time in english class we wasted the whole class discussing our favorite movies

ibanezman575 05-08-2006 07:18 PM

oh and anyone heard the new bouncing souls single?
its alright, nothing special though, but kinda hints to another quality release

Repost that link. I'm excited for the guy.

coheneran 05-08-2006 07:32 PM

MY CANADIAN FRIEND SAID SHE'D DO HIM!

But it'd be statutory rape. I wonder if that matters to a virgin.

They guy's going to get laid. It's only been a week and he's more than halfway there.

SantaDuJuan 05-08-2006 07:50 PM

Yes, please. If I could bang a chick that hott I'd be copying and pasting that link everywhere.

I'm not joking.

AIRIC 05-08-2006 07:50 PM

Yeah. And it goes up like 10 every refresh.

coheneran 05-08-2006 07:51 PM
They guy's going to get laid. It's only been a week and he's more than halfway there.
True.
Yeah. And it goes up like 10 every refresh.
That's cheating!

SantaDuJuan 05-08-2006 07:54 PM
Yeah. And it goes up like 10 every refresh.
Well I sure hope he deserves it; he's really a genuis for thinking of it.

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 07:57 PM
True.

That's cheating!
Not really, it means 10 people have visited the site while you were refreshing.

coheneran 05-08-2006 07:59 PM
Not really, it means 10 people have visited the site while you were refreshing.
Yeah, but refreshing it is cheating.

What you the sex police or something?

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 08:06 PM
Yeah, but refreshing it is cheating.
You really missed what I was saying.

coheneran 05-08-2006 08:09 PM
You really missed what I was saying.
When you refresh, you add a visit, no? Whether or not ten more people visited, your refreshal added another one.

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 08:11 PM
When you refresh, you add a visit, no? Whether or not ten more people visited, your refreshal added another one.

I keep hitting refresh, but the count is not going up! Well, I saw a lot of people who kept refreshing the page driving the count up really high. While I like the thought behind this, it really isn't fair to her, and I don't want to cheat my way into the sack.

coheneran 05-08-2006 08:13 PM
He says himself that refreshing drives the count up, and he doesn't wanna cheat.

Brain Toad 05-08-2006 08:15 PM

He meant he isn't including the refreshes in the count, it only counts unique vistors. You dense fucktard
He meant he isn't including the refreshes in the count, it only counts unique vistors. You dense fucktard
Jeez, chill out guy. So I don't have a degree in hit counters, it'd have saved time and effort if you'd have said that from the beginning. Except the "dense fucktard" bit.
