Hello pop-punk.
So, I was supposed to go see Ghengis Tron and Kylesa last night, but I ended up not going, because I couldn't find a parking space within 5 miles of the venue, due to the Sabres game. What's worse: this is the second time I've missed a show at this venue due to the Sabres. So, I now hate the Sabres, and am extemely angry I had to miss Kylesa. Edit - Luckily, the Sabres lost! |
Where you going? (To PS)

Parking around sporting venues is insane. Grohl: Home! (For a week of ski fun :D)
Yeah, the thing is, the venue isn't even that close to the hockey arena, and the parking lots around it were still charging $6-$8, and they were all full. Plus, the Tragically Hip was playing a little ways down the road, so the whole city was jammed. Oh, and the show was at 9:00, so everyone was already at the game or at the TH concert, and not leaving anytime soon. Skiing sounds fun. I've never actually done it, but still. |
Biran: Well close parking was probably like $30 :p I bet some of the closer ones actually had space too
Aren't you from upsate NY? How can you not ski? =\ |

Aren't you from upsate NY? How can you not ski? =\
Yeah, everyone parks at the $6-8 lots, because the subway near them runs straight to the arena, and it's free when it's above ground, which it is from where I was to the arena. Yeah, I'm from around Buffalo, and the only skiing I've ever done is cross-country in elementary school. We have a whole bunch of ski places within like 45 minutes too. :-\ |
Hahah yeah. People are cheap.
omg that's even closer than skiing in CO (although CO skiing is better :p) Go. Seriously. |

The Las Vegas Penguins makes as much sense as the Jazz in Utah to be honest.
The NHL blows my mind with their notion of hockey hotbeds. I mean, Nashville, Tennessee? They sucked for so long and now they're solid, but their venue rarely sells out. And don't get me started on the retarded scheduling. I am so sick of seeing Columbus eight times a year that we can't play as many Eastern Conference teams, which would be a hell of a lot better. |
gtfo I wont have a hockey team next season.
You can have the Sabres. :) Send me $25, and they're your's. |
Sounds like a whack deal, I want the penguins.
They said they would stay if they got a new arena. So we actually got a deal for a new arena , which was FREE and it came with a casino, and instead fucking Ed Rendell and Dan Onarota throw it away and decide to pay for one instead, which we actually CANT do. http://www.dve.com/cc-common/podcast/single_podcast.html?podcast=amshow.xml Listen to Pens #66 Unhappy with Arena Talks (about halfway down page) and ROFL at the gift certificate part which sums it up perfectly. And ROFL at how good that lemieux impression is. |
I lied, its more 1/4 of the way down.

Who knows of any good music released by the artists for free?
|
Who knows of any good music released by the artists for free?
Through the artist's site and/or the record label, I suppose. Also you can download the streams for the listening parties at the reviews site if that's your thing. |
Nah i meant like new bands that i've not heard of. Thanks for the tips though.
|
Purevolume and myspace will be your best bet.
And your explanation of why his advice isn't what you're looking for is stupid. - My band got asked to play a gig!!!! Too bad we still don't have a vocalist. |
Whoa, it's Jon!
|
Sparta is my new favorite band. Porcelain is so beast.
|
Sparta is pretty sweet. I saw them in September or October, and they were great.
|
I was gonna go see them yesterday with mewithoutYou but it fell through. I heard they're kind of disappointing live.
|
Oh yeah, side note: I don't understand all the hate for Cute Is What We Aim For, I think they're pretty neat.
|
Sparta is my new least favorite band.
The Snake the Cross The Crown/Any Alternative Band rip offs for the lose :( The thing people don't like about CIWWAF is that they sound like every other band on Fueled By Ramen. Based on their own merits, they're not bad. As long as you don't take them seriously. But you can get it better elsewhere. Like This Providence, who are fantastic. http://www.myspace.com/thisprovidence |
Sparta came before TSTCTC as far as I can tell. They don't even really sound that similar.
And This Providence is okay. |
Yeah, that's why I added that "Every Alternative band ever" part.
But oh well. |

They were good when I saw them. I don't know a lot of their music though.
