When they first got together to play music Mike Watt didn't know the difference between a bass and a normal guitar and thought they were pretty much the same thing. From next to no musicial knowlege they ended up becoming some of the best in the genre.

They are not overrated, im not saying that just because they are my favourite band. I would explain in more detail but I don't have time.
