Did anybody notice what happens when you line up the spines of the enhanced CDs?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/eddiespine.bmp
Yes. Although I only have four of them, I could see where it might lead to. Thanks for doing the work for me, though!

Also, a question: who are Steve Harris' biggest influences on the bass? I've read that he really admired Chris Squire from Yes and the bassist from Free, but I also notice a strong Geezer or Geddy influence. Yes? No?

Thunder Fingers 04-11-2005 03:51 PM

Geddy is a big influence, so is Phil Lynnott of Thin lizzy(Flatwounded 70's P bass anyone? :p) though they are only with their bands on the following list...

Band Influences -- Wishbone Ash, Genesis, Free, Thin Lizzy, Jethro Tull, Golden Earring, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath.
Bass influences -- Martin Turner, (Wishbone Ash) Andy Fraser, (Free) Chris Squire, John Entwistle (The Who)

On Blood Brothers, Adrian's solo is from about 2:55 till 3:10, then Dave's solo goes from about 3:10 until around 3:25, then when it goes into the vibrato/bendy solo @ 3:26 till 3:57, that's Janick :x

Hello new to forums and a maiden fan! Just want to establish a presence on this thread and maybe apologize for any repeats of stuff thats been said, due to the fact that this thread is huge!!!! Which also gives me a warm comfortable feeling..... *creepy glare*
Janick is awsome... again i have to xpress my love for his solo in blood brothers.... ah... wonderful!
that is the single most beautiful solo ever..lol. It's stunning. It makes every other solo ever played look stupid. Janick put's so much emotion into it and it just comes out amazing..every time I hear it I just go wow..The only thing that comes close to comparing to it is the part after the fast intro like thing for Fear Of The Dark (RiR). That is also stunning, the croud singing along is just amazing. But Janick's Blood Brother's solo takes the prize..by far.

Whoa..lol.. :D

MaidenNut 04-11-2005 09:18 PM

Lightning_Rider 04-11-2005 10:24 PM

Yeah Fear of the Dark solo is great, I like the original, but I also enjoy the Rock In Rio version, Blood Brothers too, there's like one bend that just stands out so much its like whoa

blue3 04-11-2005 10:33 PM

I knew there was an Eddie but I didn't think it Was the one from Iron Maiden (The album that is) :thumb:

thelittledrummerboy 04-12-2005 12:59 AM

Best solo on RiR IMO is The Trooper by Dave Murray. But then again I Love Them all.
Does the song Iron Maiden have a solo?

amateurbassist 04-12-2005 02:38 AM

i dont know....... but IMO the best solo is Daves in weekend warrior..... my mate tried to play it and nearly broke his hand...

amateurbassist 04-12-2005 02:50 AM

o by the way... iv been listening to POM and iv gotta ask... woth the hell does nicko say at the beginning of Still Life??? it puzzles me...

Lord Abortion 04-12-2005 03:32 AM

the start of still life, (one of my top 5 favourite maiden songs) nicko's impression is of Adi Amin, general 80's wierdo.
but backwards. he says "don't meddle wit' 'tings you don't understand" recorded when he was very drunk to piss off the religious right in england and america who stupidly accused maiden of being satanists.

hello maidennut, welcome to the maiden thread

stew, don't use that red text, man it's illegible

amateurbassist 04-12-2005 03:37 AM

Cheers For That..... Btw Do You Know Of Any Plans For The Part In The Maiden Dvd Series.... Continuing From Early Days?

Lord Abortion 04-12-2005 03:42 AM
Cheers For That..... Btw Do You Know Of Any Plans For The Part In The Maiden Dvd Series.... Continuing From Early Days?
the next part will be the dance of death live album/dvd which will catalogue bruce's return up to the present, a bit odd I know, i think they planned the next one to be live after death (powerslave- probably seventh son)
and that will be released sometime soon. Dance of death dvd will probably be out for christmas and will be a cross between early days and rock in rio hopefully :thumb:

amateurbassist 04-12-2005 03:48 AM

cool cheers for that..... hey i dont suppose you could tell me who is opening for maiden in Paris

Speedmetalsymphony 04-12-2005 08:17 AM

Im gonna see them in Gothenburg sweden on 9:th July
Mastodon and In flames will be opening, but i would have
liked DT to come.
Does anyone have a likely setlist, They better play Rime of ....
and Where eagles dare

ashman 04-12-2005 08:19 AM

They will play Where Eagles dare, they won't play Rime because it's the Early Days tour and Rime is on Powerslave and they are only going upto Piece Of Mind...
