It was during the break down part, where Adam strums th two chords before letting the bass/drums go on alone. During that part, like on the album, I usually mess about with lower string scrapes and muted note effects, but it seems im two bars short at that part.
Im so not used to playing with a bass accompliment for Tool. I keep missing the flange solo part cue. :( Oh well, The patient will be cool. More thanks again /gets thesaurus and looks up 'thanks' for more alternatives |

I thought that was pretty obvious, since I've already said I'd do bass backing tracks for these songs :p

i must have missed that part, my bad. I just jumped back in the mix, and saw people were doing recordings and what not. I just figured out how to download mp3s to my 8-track recorder, so i can play them back, while im playing and only record my part. Pretty boss option |
Sometimes it just sounds warmer. And some effects Adam genreates I doubt can be picked up with line in. THough not knowing much about recording, I cant really stake a case against anything
Yeah. And who knows, he may do both.
Wish i could find the picture of his attic with ALL his pedals on. I posted it yonks ago, and its difficult to search for
I would love to see this. I really wish I would have found this thread a long time ago. BTW, does anyone have any idea how Adam has his amps set up (like how he divides his signal between the three and whatnot)? |
Joz, these backing tracks are sweet. Thanks for doing this.
17 Apr 05
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYNARD In honor of the anniversary of your Nativity, here’s a strange little story that happened years ago on the 17th , not of April, unfortunately, but in November. As I’m sure you’re aware, fearing that flying saucers might cause damage to their vineyards, in 1954 the village council of Chateauneuf-du-Pape passed an ordinance making it illegal for flying saucers (especially, as the name and label* indicates, those cigar-shaped saucers) to hover over and land in their vineyards. If any were spotted or captured by the French authorities, they were to be immediately impounded. Now, I know what you’re thinking, but the threat seems to have worked, and here’s the ‘proof…’ * As a tribute to the wines of France’s Rhone Valley, the Bonny Doon Vineyards of California issued a syrah (well, kind of) called “Le Cigare Volant” whose label depicts a classic cigar-shaped flying saucer beaming its bright light on a French vineyard. I’ve a 1996 vintage in my wine rack that has somehow managed to remain uncorked. On November 17th, 1986, somewhere near Anchorage Alaska, Captain Kenju Terauchi and his crew of JAL flight 1628, a Boeing 747 ‘jumbo’ jet transporting cargo, reported seeing several UFOs, one of which the Japanese pilot described as being twice the size of an aircraft carrier! The jumbo freighter had originated in Paris, France, and after first landing and spending a day in Reykjavik, Iceland, was bound for Tokyo. Shortly after the sighting, the story received international press, mainly due to the fact that the close encounter was tracked by both ground and airborne radar and that the Alaska air traffic controller (ARTCC) instructed the pilot to make certain evasive moves to avoid the object. Also, the FAA officially investigated the case. When asked by the ground controller at Anchorage Center if Captain Terauchi wanted a nearby base to scramble jets, the pilot said “iie”, fearing that the jets might be harmed. In fact, Terauchi actually reminded the ground controllers of a case involving an American Air Force pilot who was killed while chasing a flying saucer in his Mustang – probably a. reference to the Mantell case of January 1948. Because of this apparent knowledge of UFO history, and that the Japanese pilot freely used terms such as “spaceship” and “Mothership”, Philp J. Klass and other skeptics at CSICOP were quick to debunk the sighting. But there was an even bigger problem with Terauchi. I have in my possession a copy of a letter from Klass to UFO researcher Bill Moore dated from 1987 in which he (Klass) also ‘discredits’ Capt. Terauchi’s testimony because he was a “UFO REPEATER.” In a premature and, quite frankly, unsatisfactory explanation for the encounter of JAL 1628, Klass, writing in The Skeptical Inquirer, as well as in the letter to Moore, claims that what Terauchi saw in the “broadside” position was the planet Jupiter which was extremely bright at the time. The other UFO(s) were the planet Mars. After realizing his initial mistake (from info in the FAA data package), Klass later revised his analysis and came to the conclusion that the UFOs were actually reflections of moonlight on clouds of ice crystals (astronomical phenomena al a debunker Donald Menzel). But here’s the good part. When later asked why he thought the UFOs were following him, Captain Terauchi humorously replied that the plane’s cargo consisted of beajoulais French wine, and that perhaps the aliens “wanted to drink it!” (without illegally landing in French vineyards). That’s all well and fine, but, what I would like to know is why did the ‘jumbo’ freighter stop in Iceland for a day (weather conditions)? This aspect of the JAL 1628 case seems to have been completely overlooked by researchers. It should also be known that for his indiscretion of reporting a UFO(?), Terauchi, a experienced senior captain with an excellent record, was grounded for several years. Thus the case was closed, with no one talking about Ultima Thule… until exactly two years later, when on November 17, 1988, Linda Petursdottir of Iceland was crowned the 38th Miss World. Of course this fact is irrelevant to the JAL encounter… OR IS IT?* See CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE ICELANDIC KIND for a possible reptilian/alien shape-shifter explanation for certain Icelandic beauty pageant winners. Also, in speaking of cigar-shaped UFOS, is it merely a coincidence that Reykjavik translates as “Bay of Smoke?”
just a guess and such but might this be a clue to the new album, november 17th maybe, anyone good and finding clues and such??? |
Joz, these backing tracks are sweet. Thanks for doing this.
If you have any desire to play Jimmy, 46&2, pu**** (ænema), anything from opiate, or the like, im deff interested :thumb: |
46 and 2 I can do.
I can play Sweat, Hush and Cold and Ugly off of Opiate. I can play all of Opiate really. Push*t I am not interested in, I'm sorry, I don't like that song. |

I could just do the whole Ep, really...
FUK YEA dude. Ive been trying to get my sh*tty band to play those for ages. They suck and refuse to do work and im gonna have to kick them to the curb, but that would be bad arse. Do you submit the drums, or how do you go about laying down ur track (just curious. i cant download at work, so i have to ask sorry) |
I have been using MIDI drums for my drum tracks.
Someone made a MIDI/Guitar Pro file out of Tool songs, and I am using the drums they programmed for it, and simply doing the bass over it. In some cases, I am using guitar/other parts, if the bass doesn't come in right away. |

My drummer just makes excuses for not playing ANYTHING by them, without even giving it a sporting chance, so i wondering |
I mean, it wasn't hard to get these songs in MIDI format...
Someone just sat down and figured out the drumlines. Kudos to them. |
Nov 17th...:(
JUst do whatever tracks you like to play really. 'Cause i'd assume tracks like third eye would be a bore for you, but playing that solo is great for guitarists. I don't mind what songs I play because I pretty much like them all :) |
I'd just like to interject randomly here and say something quite obvious.
Justin Chancellor is God. |
^ Thats never random...
/needs The Grudge and The Patient :) |
thanks to whomever put Demon Cleaner on yousendit, just now logging on so i'm a little late on the thanks. :thumb:

Im am currently learning that on bass right now, Its quite the trip. |
If any of you guitarists or bassists could record Ticks And Leeches for me it'd be awesome.
|
Mabye I will for you... but I think a bass player would be better if your doing drums. (assuming you are)
|
Your assumptions are correct. Either would be great. Just for playing along purposes you know.
