Those covers are good Mathias. How long have you been playing?
|
Yea I watched it last night
I'm learning holy wars rght now
Really!? I was trying to learn that but I took a break to try to learn Pantera's Revolution is my name and AC/DC's beatin' around the bush (I love that song title). |

I think he's been playing 9 years. But only seriously for a couple. |

call me ditsy but I haven't noticed until now that mathia did a cover of some songs. I'll go back and check them out and voice my opinion on them. |
What songs did he cover?
What songs did he cover?
Holy Wars and Take No Prisoners. I found that both were good but some noticable (but barely) mistakes were made but as the late Jack Black said "Rock ain't about doing things perfect." The only thing that seemed weird to me was his tone. I don't know if it was the recording software he used but the tone seemed nowhere near as scooped as it should've be for the rhythm, particularly in the part just a little bit past the first verse. There's some nice heavy palm muting that sounds killer and wasn't in mathia's cover. He did the chords right but need to pull some more of the mids out for that killer Megadeth tone. 4.5/5 for mathias.:thumb: BTW Mathias, Superior job on the leads. I've seen the tabs to some of those bends on holy wars, and I was like "How the F*ck am I gonna pull this off ?" Nicely done. |
and Paranoid. A cover of a cover. It was better than the original I must say.
the late Jack Black
He's dead? |

No, but I'm sure his mixture of hyperactivity and mcdonalds will see to that. |

Oh, so you can see into the future. |

No but I wish I was. I tell ya, I'd be the fattest $100 million lottery winner that I know. I would BUY Marshall (not just the amp but the Company) and ESP. That would be sweet. Anyways now that dave's decided to continue with megadeth are there any talks about working on a new album? TSHF was one of his absolute best IMO. TSHF :smash: St. Anger I think he should take the time for another album while he's still on a roll. |
he definately will make another album with them. And tour again :D

yeah, but is it going to be in the next year or two? (the new album) I'm not a very patient guy. :) |

I'm not a very patient guy. :)
I'm not sure there's no news that I know of but knowing Dave it'll be in the next 2 years. |
He's been talking about it in some of his latest posts:
Now that I have made my decision I know I am going to have an extremely busy next few years, at least three to five with Megs if we get a good record contract, and hopefully at least ten with Gigantour. 2006 will have a new band, a new record, Gigantour North America, and possibly Gigantour Oz/Japan, as well as the DVD and CD for Gigantour, and the Megs DVD and CD from tonight, and what seems to be a Gigantour South America at the end of next year, I will be busy, busy, busy. -- Anyway, I spent the whole day listening to riffs and thinking about how to start the next record, the artwork, song titles, etc. I think my brain is itching and swelling, and this may be a good thing, or maybe not. Two shows to go, and then it is off to demo-ville. -- There's more, I just can't find it. |
pull some more of the mids out for that killer Megadeth tone.
Dave has a very middy tone man. My tone wasn't that great mainly because of the gear and setup I used. Thanks for the critique though. :) |
Hey guys.
I think my music tastes are maturing. I used to bum Metallica etc but recently I've been swinging more towards Megadeth. Convert meh :) I've not heard a load and I'm wanting some more to have a listen to. What albums and songs can you recommend for me ? Cheers :thumb: |
Albums... get Rust in Peace first. If you like thrash more, then get Killing is my Business next, if you don't, then Countdown to Extinction.
Should probably get Peace Sells too, even though I think its really overrated. Songs: Take No Prisoners Tornado of Souls Skull Beneath the Skin Rattlehead The Conjuring Into the Lungs of Hell In My Darkest Hour High Speed Dirt Victory She-Wolf |
I reccomend so far so good so what as your third album after RIP and KIMB.
|
Should probably just get the entire Discography to be honest...
|
I'm in Web Design atm ha. I hate Dave's tone, his mids are turned up too much.
|
First album I'd get is Greatest Hits
|
he definately will make another album with them. And tour again :D
God I hope so. Everyone else I've missed...Except Metallica |
I think there's gonna be a Giangantour 2.
|
Their should be. I heard they were great..and looking at the bill I can see why

There will be. |

Really? From the sound of it, it sounded quite scooped. Maybe he's just awesome at palm muting then. I can get an awesome thrash tone at this eq (bass=10, mid=3, treble=6) on my line 6 spider II and it sound incredibly killer. What gear did you have? I'm not trying to be picky about your playing because it was awesome, but trying to figure out what went wrong with the tone. |

Schecter C-1 Classic --> DS-1 --> Roland Cube 15 --Line out--> crap sound card Settings: Bridge pickup (JB) DS-1: Dist - 0 Tone - 12 o clock Level - Max Cube: Metal Stack Bass - 11 o clock Mids - 2 o clock Treble - 2 o clock Something like that, I think. |

Hate Dave's tone!? I know it's an opinion and all but jeez... |
I think middy tones are great... I hate the overscooped tone. Fuck Dimebag for popularizing it.
