Oh well, the basslines are superb on Hell Awaits. Thick, loud, and thumpy.

In other news, I bought 2 more thrash classics:

Possessed - Seven Churches
Sepultura - Beneath The Remains

What's even better is that it's only 5 days until I see Slayer! \m/:evil:\m/

metal-militia 12-12-2004 04:28 PM

Some good buys there :thumb: Where are you seeing Slayer?

I've been meaning to some Sepultura for a while, what are the best albums to buy?

RavenousMetalist87 12-12-2004 04:46 PM

I'm seeing them at the Universal Ampitheater in Universal City. It's in California, plus its in the same county where Slayer formed, plus I live only like 20-30 minutes from where Slayer formed back in the days.

For Sepultura suggestions, I strongly suggest Schizophrenia. Fast, aggressive, and pounding like a ten ton sledgehammer.

Beneath The Remains is like Schizophrenia, but it's not as raw and dirty sounding (Schizo's production sounds like a vintage record XD). It's more thrashy sounding than early death metal sounding.

Arise is said to be the thrasiest of them all. I would recommend this one last, whereas nothing tops BnR and Schizophrenia for me...that is...except Morbid Visions.

Morbid Visions is something I should look into on the audio samples first. More of a death metal sounding album, but I am actually enjoying the way it sounds, even if I don't have it.

I'd get a few more suggestions first. This just my personal opinion.

I find that album to be early death metal, but that's just my opinion.

Possessed is thrash, check out the riffs. It sounds more black metal than death metal, anyway

RavenousMetalist87 12-12-2004 04:57 PM

^ That's what I heard too, but it still is a good album. If I could turn it up a little louder, I would be thrashing mad.

MC5 12-12-2004 05:10 PM

I heard Exorcist off of a Seven Churches album and it was awesome. They are pretty much the beginingn of death metal in my opinion but they are still awesome.

manuscriptreplica 12-12-2004 05:28 PM

Get the whole album it is great

I fail to see why it's the beginning of death metal, sure they coined the term, but the riffs are thrash, the production is black and the vocals are also black

sensitiveorgan00 12-12-2004 07:18 PM

I just downloaded Kreator - Pleasure to Kill. \m/

Arise is the least thrashy of all their early stuff... anyways, the first 4 albums are good to great. You are correct in assuming that Schizophrenia is the best one. It wins for having ...Storms and Inquisition Symphony on it.

Actually, I don't think anyone knows for sure. I'll go see what happened over in Death Heads.

SODOM: DVD To Surface In March, Studio Album To Follow In August - Dec. 14, 2004
Veteran German thrashers SODOM are tentatively scheduled to release their first DVD in March 2005. According to SODOM frontman Thomas "Angelripper" Such, the DVD's concert footage will will contain 23 songs. An overview of the band's career thus far and additional bonus features will also appear on the disc. "Such a giant DVD we make only once in a lifetime, so I don't want to make compromises in quality and completeness," Angelripper had previously said. "But you'll not be disappointed, the DVD will be the absolute hammer, I promise!"

SODOM are expected to enter the studio in early 2005 to begin recording their new album, tentatively due in August 2005.

yay.

**** lazy bastards. An album EVERY YEAR and then none for four? Whats the deal? I think Tom should change the 'angelripper' bit to 'kerry king' or some such. **** laziness.

Good work on getting that. I hope the new Sodom CD is as good as, if not better than M 16. i thought it was strange they didn't release a CD for a while as well.

As for the DVD, It'd be cool to see Sodom do stuff like Nuclear Winter live :thumb:

A Sodom DVD, awesome. I've only really just got into them but by the time it's released I should think that I'll be more into them.
Also, I ordered Live Kreation the other day, for something good to watch over Xmas. Anyone got it? Is it any good? Have I made a bad purchase?

^I have it, it's great, you have not made a bad purchase.
