You're a rare person to consider drinking coffee as taking drugs. Very objective of you!
|
Youre saying 'taking drugs' in the teenager sense; illegal, dangerous, harmful substances used for physical, emotional and spiritual pleasure.
Using 'drug' in that sense is almost a misconstrued view. A drug is a substance used to 'cure, alleviate, diagnose, or prevent disease'. Talking about it in the context youre using is for none of these; theyre taken as a measure to experience new feelings and to feel un-natural highs. |
Yeah, I guess. I don't really see it in that "teenager" sense, I'm just trying to put forward what seems to be the general consensus.
It's an illuminating experience asking people about their boundaries. I find it so interesting finding out how important the law is when it comes to people's morals. |
I couldnt think of another term so i chose 'teenager' :p
I agree with you though, its funny how people treat 'drugs', yet dont actually understand the meaning/use of the word. What especially gets me is these antismoker types, hating on it for its health reasons, yet they go and drink alcohol regularly. |
What my thoughts on transformers is, that its going to look really good and pretty, but the actual film will be pretty week, but i still want to see it.
This is what EVERY single one of my friends back home said going into seeing it. They were like, meh it's going to look amazing, but the storyline's gotta' suck balls 'cause it's Transformers. Well, they all said they left the theater pretty much stunned it was such a sweet movie. |
I've never got drug classification myself. Alcohol is far worse and addictive than ecstasy (e isn't addictive) and yet E is a Class A drug.
|
It is pretty simple and 'easy' to die from ecstasy dehydration.
Its incredibly difficult to die from alcohol in one sitting. Plus you have to consider the culture and social aspect of drinking. You dont get old men spending their sunday afternoons doing lines of coke and MDMA as a pass time. Except in hull or sth. |
Yeah I get ya. But from my experience I was pretty ok during and after I'd taken it. I've had much worse drinking sessions were I've nearly drank myself unconscious.
|
Also you have to think like, if consumable alcohol were 'invented' today; it would never get commercial release, and even if it did it would probably be incredibly hard to get and be very expensive.
|
Perhaps, but on the other hand alcohol is a social tool that's been around for thousands of years. Most cultures on earth have their own recipes or drinks, most villages and towns in the uk and ireland at least have grown up around a pub or a brewery. So I'd say to be suggesting alcohol be invented now as any kind of point is irrelavant. It'd be like supposing bread's just been invented, without it society would have developed in an entirely different way, if at all
|
I think they missed the boat with it really.
I think for the simpsons to not suck forever they should've done what they did with futurama and ended it while it was still awesome and not relying on constant guest appearances Alcohol and caffeine i consider drugs medically but not socially |
I heard once that Matt Groening only made the simpsons poo because they cancelled Futurama
Pretty tight thing to do to the Simpsons, but Futurama's probably worth it. Might not be true though; if another series of Futurama gets made and Simpsons gets amazing again then I guess it is |
I broke my Guitar Hero controller :(
|
My biggest 'beef' with the Simps, is that they try and make it all moderny. Like everything is based around "whoa, I just bought a new cell phone, now i'm going on the internet to download a new ringtone." They may aswell just say "look at how cultured and with-it we are"

Wow, asinine thinking or what. Youre saying we cant say 'what if', ever. Talking about alcohol in that context is perfectly relevant, it highlights its integration into our society and its continuing inherent use. It showcases the contrast between our thinking now and thinking back then, comparing social norms, beliefs and values. It is very note worthy when ranked against more modern substances, and their treatment and place in society. Just ignoring that is retarded. |
I'm not ignoring that, and that's not what I said at all
Alcohol is something that has been around as long as society. I was pretty much supporting your point about not getting old men in the pub doing lines of coke. Because alcohol has been around so long, it has, largely successfully, been integrated into society, to the point where it can get a commercial release. There are huge problems with alcohol abuse, but only a tiny amount compared to the amount of acohol use. It's only note worthy ranked alongside more modern substances in the sense that more modern substances are just that; more modern. The uk has only in the last couple of hundred years been introduced to opium and heroin, marijuana etc, so it's perfectly reasonable for them to be ranked and graded differently, because as a society, the powers-that-be are still unsure as to how to deal with them. On a personal, individual level, that's still something the person has to judge for themselves, and always will be. So there again, lumping beer and ecstacy together is pointless, as an individuals tolerance to both will differ When we've had marijuana etc as long as we've had beer, then we'll see if weed gets a commercial release, and then that point can be made. Besides, all you're doing is speculating |
On a lighter note...
Coast is on, i really do like this show for some reason, the uk has some stunning pieces of coastline. |

That and the fact that the ages of the children are randomly altered to suit the storylines. How the fu'ck can lisa simpson be eight years old? |

I work weekends so I don't get to see it, but I might download it. It's really cool seeing all these little coastal villages, they're so amazing. Geologically speaking, Britain is absolutely amazing. Look at a geological map of Britain, you'll see we've got about a trillion different rock types, periods, so many features. So I've decided to pull an all nighter next friday. Me and a mate are going down to borders to get the new HP book at midnight haha.
|
I'm going at midnight too! XD But I'm working 8-4:30 saturday and my girlfriend is coming to stay on sunday for the week so it would be rude to read it then, and when she goes on friday we go to center parcs for a week! I need to cut myself off from all earthly contact once I get back until I finish. No one will ruin it for me!
|
"I always look at people queing for HP books and think "why don't you all go to a pub, get drunk and sleep with each other. Then you'll have something to do, and you can pick up the book in the morning."
Some guy, Jasper Carrott I think. Made me laugh :) |
I'm not buying it right now. Working my way through the other ones again first. Almost finished The Chamber Of Secrets.
When I first read them I remember thinking they were the biggest (longest) books ever! :upset: |
The chances of me every buying it are so silm, i really do not care for harry potter.
I hope someone does the whole, buy the book, drive past a queue shouting out what happens agian. |
I wouldn't mind reading it, but I wont buy it, at least not for a while
Got loads to read before I do that Apparently the new film's ace, I'll definitely go see that |
^^^ 123 tbh, I'd hate it
Thank you for your order MR BUGGY You have booked 1 standing tickets for THE BLACK CRUSADE at Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester on WED, 21/11/2007, doors at 17:00, starts at 18:00
 lots of money though ._. |
Although this is a lot fun for the people who don't give a rat's ass about the story, it is quite upsetting for those who care. It's kinda dumb that people shout what happens.
Hi.
Oh yeah, its not very nice. But i loled when i saw it. Ergh, i have my theory test tomorrow, and out of the 20 or so practice exams i have done, ive only failed about 3 or something, im still getting quite worried. |
I'm most looking to see Machine Head, but Arch Enemy'll put on a show, and I could put up with Trivium :P wouldn't mind seeing them actually, and Dragonforce I've never seen; not my thing really, but it'll be cool nonetheless :)
Machine Head'll pwn. The Ashes... show was ace |
I need to buy my tickets soon. Problem is, I don't know whether to go to the Manchester one or Glasgow =/ seeing as I don't know if i'll be on holiday when they're on
