Really some awesome stuff so far. I find many of these albums more interesting than the albums on Chris's site.
Get the San Franciscan Nights album series off that site. Great live recordings of great bands. |

I assume you mean a way WITH words right. Apologies if this is a double post; for some reason I can't edit. |

Now, that was just intentional, son. On a CR related note: has anyone heard Led Zeppelin's cover of "Hello Marylou" off of HTWWW? Good stuff. |
I've heard it. Can't remember it though.
I haven't listened to Zeppelin in atleast a year. |
This thread is just falling apart.
Utterly. Blatantly. Disgracefully. Oh well...this is the thread's final days...and going down without class is the Classic Rock way for the most part. |
I've heard it. Can't remember it though.
I haven't listened to Zeppelin in atleast a year.
I've gotten back into them just recently. I got so overwhelmed with new music (mostly thanks to this fred <3) that I kind of forgot about the stuff I already had. Then I put on HTWWW for good time sake, and I'm kind of hooked on it right now.
This thread is just falling apart. Utterly. Blatantly. Disgracefully.
Hey shut up. :( |
I love Led Zeppelin III.

Okay I'll go listen to two albums full of sissy blues rip offs.
Or I can listen to one song and hear most of the material of both the albums. |
Go listen to Coda.

I don't have it :-(

I>III II>all
I think they all suck. :p
Haha, Schyma's gonna be so pissed with this spam.
Ah yes, and we were doing really good there for a bit. Remember the days when RocknotRoll would bitch at us for posting useless things? Last time I saw him he was posting more spam than anyone I've seen. Since I enjoy on-topic conversation apparently more than others (<_<) (>_>) let's talk about some great moments you've had with your music, shall we? Something great happened with me last night as I walked home half intoxicated listening to Bob Dylan on a pitch black road leading into darkness. "Mr. Tambourine Man" came on with the gentle guitar coming in then I felt a huge shiver go up and down my spine then the vocals and lyrics took over and for those four long great minutes I had the most beautiful and spirtual conection with music that I've ever felt. It was so incredible, I completly forgot about everything I had just went through, the dark lonely road, my friends, the cops, the fact that I hadn't eaten something in 24 hours, just everything. Looking up I lost myself in the orange haze of pollution that covered the mid-night's moon. I felt almost like I could actualy be a part of it like a stray puzzle piece, like I could waunder through the vast blackness of space touching all the millions and billions of stars in between. I get the feeling like I'm starting to talk like Jack Kerouac here but I truely felt something amazing walking up that road. I don't believe in a god or anything of that sort but there was something about Dylan's words that sent me flying off to another place. (and where ever that place was it was sure better than my reality at the time) This was better than the time I was laying down on my roof-top, tripping, looking at a full moon, with Sigur Ros playing or the first time I tripped while I listening to "The Gnome". Has anyone felt such a insanly deep connection with some music that you'd remember that moment and song for the rest of your life? |
Ok, seriously I find it much more annoying hearing people complain about spam than actual spam. Especially when it's not even that bad. When did everyone in this thread become so god damn uptight? Stop it.
I agree. We've been doing the whole CR community thread for a while now, and the mods have only been on our case once, and that was in the early times of the thread. (June 04, ish) I think they have seemed to accept the fact that is the OFFICIAL classic rock thread, and it's also a community thread for the CR regulars. Because think about it, it's hard to post in the regular community thread when the conversation switches to metal every other page or so. It's hard to keep up. In here, everyone is basically on the same page, musicwise. Remember when we used to call Badmoon and RNR the mom and dad of the thread? Good times. :)
/long speech
I was walking home once listening to Wish You Were Here on my ipod. It was a blustery day; very windy. Keep in mind that this was about autumn so the leaves where turning orange and falling off. As I was walking past this tree around the corner from my house and all of it's leaves were orange. As I was walking past, the part where they sing "How I wish.. how I wish you were here" came on and a gust of wind came and blew them right as I was walking by. Many fell off, and I was sort of surrounded by a wall of leaves; if that makes sense. I looked around and everything was so serene; peaceful. It was definetly an uplifiting moment for me; especially that day was rather depressing. |

123 Really, I don't get it either. This is basically a community thread for the CR regs, is it not? No one is ever in the chatroom, so this is basically it. For the most part spam is not bad at all in here, save for the endish part of the last page and the begininngish part of this page, nearly everything has to do with CR. Even last.fm's are usually CR related (although they do get annoying when people don't post anything but the list), and it seems like people complaining about spam are just venting because they had a bad day or something. Why else would they care so much about such a small thing? It's understandable if it is literally absolutely nothing but spam for a few pages, but really, it's not like The Pit in here. I usually find spam humorous, since it's usually meant to be humorous and not just spam for the sake of spam. I personally would find this thread extremely boring if every post was "Hey, what does everyone think of [x artist/song/album]? I like/dislike/meh them. Discuss." and every reply was "Well, I think that [x] is good/bad/OK, but I like [y] more, let's talk about them". This thread is perfect the way it is, with its flaws. Anyway, does anyone know if the Who has announced any tour dates/gigs yet? I've been looking on Ticketmaster lately and seen nothing. I'll look in a second I guess. EDIT: Since we're talking about the musical connections and such, I'll mention all the times I layed awake in bed listening to Dark Side Of The Moon, or on the long train ride my class took through the mountains listening to Wish You Were Here. I can't think of WYWH without having that beautiful memory :) |

Ticketmaster has always been fairly accurate for me; sign up to their mailing list. That's how I got to know about McCartney tickets. That, and this thread. :p |
One time I was listening to Dark Side a while back. I woke up in the bells in Time, and almost shat myself.
I've had a couple of those moments MYR. I just sat down and watched. Then, I had to go home to do homework. :x |

I hate when I'm about to fall asleep and then Time starts with all the bells and shit. Gah! I mentioned I bought a Mickey Hart solo album about a week ago. It is some of the best music to fall asleep to, it's really peaceful and atmospheric. I've still yet to get past like the 4th song because it's so good at putting me to sleep :p And I'm glad we're on the same page, Bigtits. EDIT: I can't recall any time like MBS described, but certain albums make me think of different time periods. DSoTM always makes me think of summer '04 (when I joined mx/first time I listened to it), and certain Rolling Stones songs make me think of the beach because one year we listened to 40 Licks like 50 times to/from the beach. |
I've had a couple of those moments MYR. I just sat down and watched. Then, I had to go home to do homework.
Yeah, I had to do that too. The moment was peaceful as hell, but was ruined when I had to figure out how many moles were in 35.6 grams of Lithium oxide. Like I really fucking care. I do a lot of stupid stuff with music, but it helps me appreciate life more. I once went out to a local park with my iPod, and sat on the grass and listened to ELO's Out of the Blue. It was pretty cool.
I hate when I'm about to fall asleep and then Time starts with all the bells and ****. Gah!
I used Time as my alarm clock once. Worked. |
Wow, this Acid Test album is pretty trippy.
It's the Dead in '66, what do you expect? Can you send out that Mickey Hart album? |
He doesn't post enough
I'm reading many books as of late and this place is usualy insanly spammy.
long rant about how spaming is fun
It lowers the quality of the thread a-lot and makes the thread less likely to have intelligent conversation. Sometimes a thread needs some spam here and there and yes, we all spam to a certain degree but this thread has carried it over the limit too much in the past month. I mean would it really cause you harm to lower the damn spam? |

If you had read my rant really, you'd know that I don't think spamming for the sake of spamming isn't fun. "Spam" according to the definition of MX is a post not on the topic of the thread. The topic of this thread is classic rock. Nearly every post has something to do with Classic Rock. Whatever else is in the post is irrelevant. And I think that it's forgotten that this is a community thread, so basically it's us talking about CR and other stuff, but usually both. And really, there's nothing to get worked up about when someone posts something non-related to CR every once in a while. Lunch is right, we all spam to a certain extent, and I guess when everyone's small amount of spam is put together it looks like a lot. But it's really not. Has every single one of your posts lately been about spam? Isn't that spam? Whatever. I'm gonna take a break from this thread, the whole anti-spam campaign is really pointless and getting old fast. Maybe when I come back it'll have blown over. While I'm gone, discuss some cool bands or something. |
