you have yet to hear a screamo band you didnt like? lol some are pretty bad

Juddybear 02-06-2011 11:37 PM

you were all about them when you first started getting into screamo, why the change?

EDIT: @ austin

12XU 02-06-2011 11:41 PM

because the good songs they have are really awesome, i just can't get into anything but them. i try, believe me.

Aakon_Keetreh 02-06-2011 11:42 PM

your face is a rape scene is amazingggggg

Scarch 02-06-2011 11:47 PM

Name a bad Screamo band.

And Pg.99 are awesome, unlike the vast majority of bands in the world, their songs are not just the same thing rehashed. Songs like The Lonely Waltz of Leonard Cohen are very unique. Even the way they release their material is creative and origional. I honestly have a hard time understanding why anyone who likes any Screamo doesn't like them. But I guess it comes down to personal taste. I saw one kid posting on youtube who named some sweet Screamo bands he liked, but for some reason he didn't like Orchid or Circle Takes the Square. To me... this just does not compute.

@12XU, hope you didn't take offense to my faux insult on the previous page. You dind't respond to it, so I just wanted to make sure you knew I was kidding. :)

CompanionCube 02-06-2011 11:54 PM

man there are a lot of forgettable screamo bands

In love with an Apparition
Lonesome Waltz...
The List

I don't really like aggressive screamo music that much, and Pg.99 is pretty chaotic and all over the place. I like structured emo/screamo with good lyrics that varies between chaos and twinkly interludes - I Hate Myself is a perfect example of that, and if you want to look into soft core emo, Joie De Virve is also a good example.

christsimpson 02-07-2011 03:17 AM

last two tracks on the Seeing Means More EP are the shit.

as for CoC, in addition to the pg99 split and the LP they have a demo (this is super rare though), a split with System 2600, a tour 7", and a demo+live compilation.

only thing I'm lacking is the System 2600 split and the tour 7". gief.

christsimpson 02-07-2011 07:12 AM

about to blast king bigmin's top ten

In Loving Memory
Portraits of Past
Spirit of Versailles
Jeromes Dream
Loma Prieta
Usurp Synapse
Life is a Fight
Sinking Steps Rising Eyes
Phasma Phasmatis
SheNotesTheChariots

I don't agree with all his choices, but all of the bands are super rad.

i dont think they are as chaotic as you think they are, common misconception

christsimpson 02-07-2011 12:57 PM

wtf pg99 aren't chaotic. sounds pretty structured to me.

@you peeps who enjoy City of Caterpillar, Et Tu Brute, etc, check this band out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTnyH1LonzY. so ridiculously beautiful.

12XU 02-07-2011 02:49 PM

surprised to see phasma phasmatis on there... theyre fucking awesome but top ten is surprising

SlightlyEpic 02-07-2011 03:06 PM
So how much stuff has City of Caterpillar released?
get Driving Spain Up A Wall, they only played it live but it's their best song by far (in my opinion)
surprised to see phasma phasmatis on there... theyre fucking awesome but top ten is surprising
I don't think it's surprising at all. they'd probably be on my list too.

Bigman needs mamma, jeg blör... and Weep though. Encyclopedia of American Traitors as well.

SlightlyEpic 02-07-2011 04:31 PM

I wouldn't say Encyclopedia of American Traitors are top ten material. Haven't heard the other two you mentioned.

christsimpson 02-07-2011 05:07 PM

they are def top ten. band rips heads.

mamma, jeg blör...,haikus & Weep are best skram bands ever though

SlightlyEpic 02-07-2011 05:20 PM

Eh, I don't know, they don't sound all that dissimilar from a bunch of other screamo bands. I still like them and all, I just personally wouldn't put them in my top ten. I'll check out those other two and get back to you on how I feel about those.

witchxrapist 02-07-2011 06:33 PM

Txus 02-07-2011 07:46 PM

i like lists

top 10 screamo:

1. Neil Perry
2. Orchid
3. City of Caterpillar
4. Daďtro
5. Gospel
6. Yaphet Kotto
7. Envy
8. Suis La Lune
9. La Quiete
10. Funeral Diner

HM: I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism in Your Yearbook, Jeromes Dream, Raein, Ampere, pg.99, Joshua Fit for Battle, Palatka, The Saddest Landscape...so many good bands, fuck it.

Scarch 02-07-2011 08:12 PM

Okay well I don't really have a serious top 10 Screamo bands list. But I'll make a semi-serious one right now for the sake of it.

1. Orchid
2. Saetia
3. Sed Non Satiata
4. Daitro
5. Anomie
6. Louise Cypher
7. Love Lost but Not Forgotten
8. Gospel (Emotive Hardcore, but close enough)
9. Marschak
10. One Eyed God Prophecy

Contendors that may or may not have replaced a band on that list if I'd been in a slightly different mood:

City of Caterpillar
Arse Moreira
Neil Perry
Envy
Funeral Diner
Eucalypt
June Paik
Kobra Kahn
Leidan
Loma Prieta
Mesa Verde
Optimus Prime
Pg.99
Raein
Circle Takes the Square
Shikari
Tristan Tzara
Totoro
Union of Uranus (Hardcore but close enough)
Yaphet Kotto
Suis La Lune (forgot them)

Okay do you see why I have a hard time? There are too many contendors... they are all my favorite band.

You like IWHACIYY? I didn't think anyone heard of that band. Also... Orchid and Archives are probably my favorites.

Scarch 02-07-2011 08:19 PM

I Wrote Haikus About Cannibalism in Your Yearbook are actually very well known. They are awesome too, but not really a top 10 band for me. Bands that feel similar to me (maybe not so similar in their actual style and technique, but for me they give me the exact same fuzzy feeling), I Hate Myself, and The Kodan Armada. For some reason whenever I think of either of these three bands, the other two just come into the same thought bubble automatically.

witchxrapist 02-07-2011 08:22 PM

Replace Daitro with The Khayembii Communique on my list actuallyyy

I need to listen to Archives a bit more.

witchxrapist 02-07-2011 08:30 PM

I wish Archives had more than one album, cause they seriously own dicks.

Yeah, I listened to it like 4 times or so. It was decent.

witchxrapist 02-07-2011 08:48 PM

That one part in Skvotter.

Si1v3RfaNg 02-07-2011 09:19 PM

Last song on the album ftw.

Si1v3RfaNg 02-07-2011 10:36 PM
