I tried to be nice to the threadstarter, but the guy who posted after me just didn't get the idea.

Agitator01 08-20-2005 04:32 PM

We have a double poster in the Metallica thread, The second post was nothing more than a pointless spam post. http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9266314&postcount=25984

I wouldn't recommend a ban but there does seem to be a recent influx of people spamming or lashing in the Metallica thread. It may be worth checking their IP in case we have the same user.

What are these attachments in most official threads? I thought these black spots were a sign to show that the thread is official but I just realized that not all official threads have them...

An illegal thread that was posted a long time ago. The threadstarter was informed of his mistake, and he apologized. Then, hours later, it got bumped. I think you should ban anyone who posted after the bump, and after the threadstarter's apology.

Someone should sticky that modern rock band comp, no?

EDIT: Well, sticky/unsticky that is.

Uhh...what goes on in the pit is of little to no concern to R&M.
If you want something in the pit closed then ask in the Report Problem users thread in site.

Im suggesting if someone could sticky this thread, since its a very important news.

But if you dont think its relevant if people know it or not. its ok

We have more tha enough stickies as it is, so I doubt that'll happen.
I'm not terrible literate in the area of genre classification, so forgive me.

BTW, that last post wasn't directed to you, just to the thread in general.
Perhaps it would've been a good idea to establish the genre before reporting the thread.

Jom 08-21-2005 08:11 PM

Yeah, the sticky is beyond doubtful, sorry. We don't want to encourage people to ask for stickies every time a musician dies. Imagine if Dave Williams of Drowning Pool died around this time instead of when he did... I don't think people would really care for a Dave Williams Celebration Thread for his death.

I'm not saying that what happened isn't tragic, but there really isn't a need for a sticky. If it's so important, it'll keep bumping itself with people posting "RIP" or whatever.

Daven 08-21-2005 08:25 PM

ok, im sorry about the question.

Jom 08-21-2005 08:31 PM

No, it's good you asked. That's what this thread is for. Besides, you weren't a dick about it, so it's all good.

I was just wondering what the chances are for having the R&M YSI thread open to full albums in the future?

I figured it'd be none, but thought I'd give it a shot anyways.

You figured correctly. Use Other Music, Alt/Indie, etc. instead, please.

Jom 08-22-2005 12:07 PM

Nice job, everyone. I like the removal of ***OFFICIAL*** in the thread title, that'll save from complications with that rule. Plus, it'll be easier to find on the search... so again, nice work there.

munky_magik 08-22-2005 12:15 PM

I don't know what you guys think of this; but maybe letting the regs of the Official threads come up with a new name for the thread would be a cool idea?

SonorKen 08-22-2005 12:22 PM
I don't know what you guys think of this; but maybe letting the regs of the Official threads come up with a new name for the thread would be a cool idea?
I had actually contemplated that, but am worried that it won't be something that will be easily recognized. I guess we could let each community come up with one and if we (the mod staff) didnt think it would work then go to thier next pick.

repcak 08-22-2005 12:36 PM

i was off for 2weeks now [/re] and what the hell happened to the ***Official*** Threads? and why 'bethlehem abortion clinic' instead of Tool??

MBS 08-22-2005 12:56 PM

Are the CR thread regulars allowed to think of a thread name? It's technically an Official thread and is bigger than any of the other Official threads.

munky_magik 08-22-2005 12:59 PM

I think any proposed names will have to be put through practicality and common sense filters before any decisions are taken.
