It's great idea becuase it's your idea!

From their official website

blue3 01-28-2006 04:53 PM

It's like a repeat!

Do any of you guys own 'A Concert for George'? How awesome is it? I want to get it sometime.
Ya this kid I know has a Pep's shirt, I don't really like it just because its just the Album cover and I like shirts that are more distinct. I'd love to have a George Harrison shirt. A cool one, not an album cover.
I have one too, it has the cover on the front, then the track list on the back, and it's red

and for blue3, it's pretty good, you outta get a money's worth out of it.

That concert is great. Have you seen 'Concert For Bangladesh'? My friend has the DVD, it's pretty cool.

Both the DVD and the album. Personally, I love both.
I can't seem to find a link. Has it been posted yet? sorry I'm new to livejournal
My fault. I've been studying all day for finals, and I've been busy. It's uploading now, expect it in about an hour.

robo2448 01-28-2006 09:26 PM

I have the Concert for George cd. It's great, a very moving tribute. I really want the DVD. Especially to see Eric Clapton play While My Guitar Gently Weeps. That solo is amazing and it must have been incredible for Eric to play it without George for the first time.

Concert for Bangladesh is amazing too.

Britton 01-28-2006 09:54 PM

Okay thanks Blue sky.

I've thought about getting the concert for george too. I heard it was really good.

But I've never heard of Concert for Bangladesh

is it any good?

MBS 01-28-2006 10:15 PM

Britton: I just updated it, it's on now.

Incense and Peppermints 01-28-2006 10:27 PM

Speaking of Concerts for George did any one catch when he was inducted to the hall of fame awhile back and a bunch of guys play While My Guitar Gently Weeps, I can't remember who all did it but I remember Prince played one hell of a solo. It really impressed me.

Magical_Mystery_Tour 01-28-2006 10:34 PM

Never seen any concerts for George. I've seen a couple Wings shows, but never George. Does he play his solo stuff and just his Beatle songs or other Beatles as well.

The Concert for George is a concert documentary that has Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne, and various other musicians performing Harrison's songs in honor of the 1 year anniversay of his death.

No, The Concert for George was a tribute to him a year after he died.

El_Goodo 01-29-2006 01:38 AM

The Concert For Bangladesh is pretty good, although the song Bangladesh is not so good lol. I got it because it had Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Ringo all in one. Does it annoy anyone else that they have two drummers? I find it extremley unnecesarry the only time it looks cool is when they do fills in perfect unison.

I like how in the documentary George Harrison said he just saw a figure and he knew it was Bob so he just said...let me introduce Bob Dylan. Bob was looking really good, and his singing was sounding extremley good. It seemed like the others didn't know what he was going to play, cause he seemed to be playing alone with George and the other guy trying to guess right.

Well Bob was in his state of isolation, and George didn't even know if he was going to show up, yet alone play. And when George asked him if he would play older hits like The Times They are a-Changin', Dylan retorted "Are you going to play I Want to Hold Your Hand?"' One of my favorite Dylan quotes. But Dylan put on a great performance.

I prefer Bangladesh to Concert for George but both are great.

And Jac, I saw the performance you were talking about. It's on George's official site. It's awesome. Prince's playing was great.

DeusExMachina 01-29-2006 02:07 PM

Concert for Bangladesh > Concert for George.

Prince is a surprisingly talented guitarist. I should check out that video.

I always disliked him...then one day it dawned on me wow this guy can really play

Haha that's a cool story!

Concert for Bangladesh is aewsome, but so is Concert for George. I'm not a huge fan of Prince, but he does have talent.

I'm listening to Got To Get You Into My Life right now, this is such an amazing song. I've been listening to Revolver...this has definitely been my favourite Beatles album for a while now.

robo2448 01-29-2006 02:54 PM

I just went to http://www.georgeharrison.com and watched those Hall of Fame induction videos. I'm happy now. Dhani looks exactly like George except darker hair. And Tom Petty is awesome and sings like Bob Dylan.

Okay guys, my brother is one of those idiots who thinks the Beatles are nothing more than a pop band. CD burning time. Anyone want to come up with some suggestions? Some songs I am considering putting on:

Come Together
Hey Jude
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away
Let it Be
She Said She Said
In My Life
A Day in the Life
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Helter Skelter
Something
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
Tomorrow Never Knows
Dear Prudence
Happiness is a Warm Gun

But I'll probably axe some of those and put some others in.

Incense and Peppermints 01-29-2006 03:05 PM

Robo: Don't put on the cliche songs like Come Together and Hey Jude (That are nothing more then pop songs :S), mix it up throw on Flying, Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Mean Mister Mustard, Polywhatever Pam, Baby Your a Rich Man... etc.

TheDMV 01-29-2006 03:07 PM

I'd say put on Golden Slumbers and You Never Give Me your Money too. Other than that, it looks like you've got all the songs I'd include.

BassMasterMike88 01-29-2006 03:32 PM

I'd add some stuff from Sargent Peppers, namely Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or the title track.

DeusExMachina 01-29-2006 04:01 PM

How about stuff like Within You Without You or Tomorrow Never Knows? That should help show off their versatility.

Edit: Nevermind. You have Tomorrow Never Knows on the list. My mistake.

MidnightRider 01-29-2006 04:45 PM

I would add Elanor Rigby, Taxman, Nowhere Man, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, and Here Comes The Sun. Other than that it looks efficient.

Edit: Maybe Strawberry Fields too.

I don't like Elenor Rigby. Don't know why, but it is one of the few Beatle songs that never appealed to me.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and Here Comes the Sun were originally on the list but I'm not sure if I have room for them. Same thing Taxman and Nowhere Man.

And adding some more obscure songs sounds like a good idea.

I just completely forgot about Strawberry Fields. That's definitely one of my top 5 Beatles songs. That definitely needs to go on the mix. Don't know how I forgot that.

thickasabrick 01-29-2006 05:35 PM

I Am The Walrus would be a good one because it's one of their more popular songs...but it ain't exactly a "pop song."

magicbus 01-29-2006 06:23 PM

Hmm talk about George while I'm gone plz :(

I own both of the "Concert for" dvd's, they're both very good.

PinkFloydFan082692 01-29-2006 07:08 PM

sounds good, robo, I like the choices, go for it, man:thumb:
