Sure, we can laugh at them, but saying you landed them in hospital is just foolish. -------------------------------------- I played all of the PF songs I have on my computer non-stop yesterday. :D |

and the guy who thought i was a stone just because i listened to floyd they landed in my imaginary hospital
Ahh. that makes more sense. When you said hospital, I was thinking you were being serious, and that was a little creepy. |
My dad just brought me home a Giomour t-shirt today. It's pretty sweet, except for it's huge. It says medium but it's along the lines of an XXL.
And DeusEx, WYWH on the piano is super easy, and sounds kick ***. I transposed the first CN solo on my keyboard, and it just sounds badass; I use the pitch bender for all of the bends. I wish I could record it. Other great songs to play on the piano are Hey You, Stop, and GGITS. |
And about posers...
I overheard this fat chick in one of my classes say "Led Zeppelin sucks, they only have one good song, and Jimmy Plants vocals suck." The ironic part is her obese followers constantly fight over which member member of Simple Plan they're going to marry. |

so none of you were on msn lol i emailed yousendit, and i got a reply from what seemed to me to be an ourang outang. for some reason now it keeps saying that it's been blocked by the recipient (which would be me.. isent it to my own email), or it exceeded bandwith.. but no one has been able to download from it im going to attempt again tonight. hopefully it'll work this time. |

Oh well. And I bet that "good" song is the only song from Zepp she's ever heard. and Plants vocals WITH Zeppelin were a bit retarded Plants vocals Solo, are pretty **** good. I heard a couple of Plant's solo songs, I was impressed. Hey.. is it just me or do alot of musicians from England know how to speak french? (My uncle was security guard at the pulse show in montreal, and had a conversation with David Gilmour in french.) Gilmour and Waters have french songs. Robert Plant spoke in french on a TV Show. cool stuff |
I can speak fluent French. ... :C

The sheet music has the first guitar solo transcribed, it's awesome. |
I gave up getting annoyed at those kids. I honestly don't care what they wear to school. I wear a Led Zeppelin shirt, and everyone that knows me knows I'm a real fan of the band, so I don't really care what other people think.
There is no point in getting annoyed at "posers". |
All that you touch and all that you see all that you taste, all you feel
These lines deal with the physical things that affect people in life.
and all that you love and all that you hate all you distrust, all you save and all that you give and all that you deal and all that you buy, beg, borrow or steal
These lines deal with the emotions we feel in day to day life. It also highlights the dog-eat-dog world that drives people to madness.
and all you create and all you destroy and all that you do and all that you say and all that you eat and everyone you meet and all that you slight and everyone you fight
Basically, this part refers to the life you have built for yourself. You’ve created things, demolished things, everything you have done to make yourself into the person you are today (that is, a madman). All the insults you given, all the fights you’ve had, your acquaintances and your meals, etc. all have amounted to something in this person you’ve created.
and all that is now and all that is gone and all that's to come and everything under the sun is in tune but the sun is eclipsed by the moon
This is the most important sequence in the song. Everything that has ever happened to you, everything that will ever happen to you, everything you are doing right now, all this has seemed to be what you needed to do. You’ve done everything a sane person can, and should be happy with your life. The only problem? You’re insane. |
Nice of you to get that in.
In all serious, nice job. |

I don't know, we were working on that like a year ago.
|
Haha, remember how we were all intent on it, but we derailed it to do the Thread Cover comp that never happened for us?
|
Yea, here in the Floyd thread we have lots of great ideas and little follow-up on them.
But a lot of people did work on their lyrical analysis. |
This thread needs to cover The Wall!
Of course that would take a really long time and I dun feel like it or have recording gear. |
Whatever happened to Pigonthewing82?

Wish You Were Here
This song relates to the pain the band felt after Syd’s mental collapse. Basically, they wish he was still there. The song starts out with a small clip which sounds like it is from an old B&W movie. The sound quality leads us to believe it is coming from a T.V. Then the channel changes twice, from what sounds like a advert jingle, to a faint acoustic guitar piece. Obviously, whoever is watching the T.V. has changed it to a live performance/music video. We can hear the person grunting occasionally during the intro, leading further credence to the idea that this person (Syd perhaps?) is watching T.V., possibly by himself. The song starts in earnest when the second guitar part comes in, at a much clearer and audible level.
So, so you think you can tell, Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell?
To me, this represents the band asking if Syd can distinguish his old friends and companions. Does he still recognise them, and can he tell the difference between friend and foe? Does he still appreciate the beauty in life, or is he too far gone to ever be the Syd they knew and loved?
And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?
This refers, I believe, to the gradual descent into madness that Syd went through. “They” are most likely the public, the record company, and the embodiment of the pressure that Syd faced in his being famous. The heroes Syd once had no longer exist for him. He has lost hope. The next three lines seem to be somewhat ironic. Most people would prefer trees, cool breezes, and change. But, these “luxuries” are what eventual made Syd so distant and cold. A walk on part in the war basically refers to the fact that Syd was part of a group, he was a member of a “brigade”, with nothing to distinguish himself from his mates. Suddenly, he was thrust into the limelight. He was the star of Pink Floyd. It is interesting to note that most people cannot distinguish the frontman in later Floyd (Roger or David), but everyone agrees that Syd was the original frontman.
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears, wish you were here.
The first line is one of immense longing. It is simply Floyd missing their dearest friend. Roger, who wrote the lyrics, believed that he and Syd were just two kindred spirits. They were “lost souls”, trapped in a circular world which they could escape. This entire verse is laden with metaphors to being trapped. The “same old ground” greets them at every turn. And for all this constant, repetitive fame, what did the band discover? The same fears, pressures and insecurities that obscurity brings. This is the illusion of fame, and Roger pierces it without hesitation. Again, he repeats his desire to have the old pal he knew back by his side. And so ends this haunting song, with a windlike effect that blends into SYOCD VI-IX |
Animals next. :)
I am still ready to record a cover song, even if just for the hell of it. Let's do it!
I really agree. I'd love to do a cover song. What do you want to do? We really should get it organized, it would be a ton of fun. WheepingGuitar39, I love you. |

Man I would love to do a cover tune if I had recording equip.
Theres a serious lack of pianists these days..and It doesn't appear like Pink Floyd's stuff is too hard... Does anybody know of a good site for Pink Floyd Sheet Music, thats ACCURATE? |
Some songs I wouldn't mind doing: Have A Cigar, Shine On You Crazy Diamond 1-5, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, and a few others I might think of later.
