I saw an awesome stencil in Israel of a spiderwoman: It was a sillhouette, and it was the upper body of a woman, with the lower body of a spider, ie. it was on four spidery legs, coming out at 90 degree angles from the centre of the end of her body. And she was holding two curved swords out in a fighting stance. It was bigger than a person, like as if it would be if she was real, and it was amazing!
The fabric paint would probably take two coats to make it stand out better.

I stenciled the Trojan Records helmet onto this army vest thing that I'm making and that was white paint onto dark green and I had to use two coats. I keep meaning to stitch a Discharge back-patch to it but I'm too lazy and I also want to stencil the Conflict logo onto the top part of the back.
i am going to try something like that but i do have studs and it is on an army jacket. besides the one patch that i bought fell apart and i need to replace it. gotta love DIY because everything comes out better quality.

ViciousLove 04-26-2006 05:24 PM

I've only stenciled one shirt, but I used DecoArt So Soft Fabric Paint in Ultra White on a black shirt. I used a fabric brush with it. Would it come out better and easier with a roller? And what kind of roller?

i wanted to put the guy on the side but of course the shirt i chose was stitched together there so there would have been mad underspray if i did. it all came out pretty well. the little logo on the shoulder didnt come out that good. its got some pretty bad underspray. its cool though. im happy with it.

Rise Me Up 04-26-2006 06:25 PM

You are really good at DIY.

I made a shirt with the same thing, only white on black, and none of the stuff on the back.

Danger Bird 04-26-2006 11:08 PM

Gah, that shitty paint store had no fabric paint, so I just bought a little roller. I have no idea where to get it now, I guess I'll have to wait until one of my parents drives down to Covington or something.

ViciousLove 04-26-2006 11:10 PM

You don't have a Joann Fabrics or Michael's or something like that around you?

Try an Artstore or fabric store or something along those lines..?

POINTLESS5448 04-27-2006 05:16 AM

walmart?

Lukeh 04-27-2006 09:22 AM

I remember it said somewhere that you get banned for suggesting/saying that you bought DIY materials from Walmart, that company is the epitome of all things anti-DIY, so yeah.
There's quite a few websites that sell fabric paint, but I'm not too sure how it is where you live. You can also make quite effective t-shirt paint by mixing the basic "fabric white" stuff that you can get a lot more commonly with any colour acrylic paint of your choice, and sometimes that can save you money too.

POINTLESS5448 04-27-2006 09:46 AM

i like walmart....

Brain Toad 04-27-2006 09:48 AM

WalMart is horrible, don't shop there for DIY.

Joann's rules, but I don't know if they are west coast only or not.

EDIT: They aren't

POINTLESS5448 04-27-2006 09:49 AM

i shop for diy at home depot.

Brain Toad 04-27-2006 09:52 AM

I personally hate Home Depot, I prefer smaller hard ware stores, ones without barcodes and employees who know their ****. But it's not as bad as Wal Mart.

POINTLESS5448 04-27-2006 01:16 PM

whats wrong with employees that know their ****? home depot kicks ***. i love the smell of that place.

The lumber section smells like bananas or something.

BCT 04-27-2006 02:58 PM

i don't know why but all home depots smell the same. i think it is the smell of progress. i don't know why other hardware stores don't smell like that
whats wrong with employees that know their ****? home depot kicks ***. i love the smell of that place.
I wasn't saying it was bad, I'm saying Home Depot has a lack of those people and places like Ace and Yard Birds (a local place) are so much better.

POINTLESS5448 04-27-2006 08:14 PM

nah dude the home depots around here have guys that know everythng.
and the lumber section smells like freshly cut plywood or 2x4s not bananas.

ratsinthecity403 04-27-2006 09:51 PM

I hate when you go in home depot with somone and then say "I'll meet up with you later," only to realize that, no, actually, you won't just 'meet up with them later'. You'll spend a good forty five minutes looking for them wondering if they've already gone outside or are they looking for you right now or are they bored and looking at tiles or...? You can get lost in that place if you aren't careful.

Weezerfan_returns 04-27-2006 10:24 PM

I despise the home depot. All of the employees are idiots, (there are seriously like, 4 of them for the entire store) and it does seem easy to get lost in there. Plus, i'd rather get friendly service from a small buisness.

Weezerfan_returns 04-27-2006 10:25 PM
walmart?
walmart for DIY materials? That's an oxymoron if i've ever seen one.

POINTLESS5448 04-28-2006 05:24 AM

It Was Just A Suggestion! ****.

EDIT: that was supposed to be caps in order to express my yelling but apparently i cant type in caps.

Weezerfan_returns 04-28-2006 11:38 AM

haha it's ok, i just thought it was kind of funny.
