You should see the demo videos for Neverwinter Nights 2. Another video game where you can take battleaxe to someone's face is always welcome.

Lord Abortion 06-06-2006 11:12 AM

I liked the first one, kinda...I much preferred the party system from BG though. The whole "one hired hand at a time" thing wasn't too good on NWN.

Nepenthe 06-06-2006 01:08 PM

BG2 = NWN in my book, though NWN2 will blow everything before it away. I don't much care about the one hired hands thing, as a few friends and I are buying it together and taking it online. Titan Quest looks pretty good too, though it's pretty much just a hack n slash with some RPG elements.

Shattered_Future 06-06-2006 02:02 PM

I've heard good things about NWN...I should pick it up eventually. Only problem is games always cost a lot more for Mac...

Steerpike 06-06-2006 04:16 PM

On the topic of this month's competition, I have a song called The Necropolis that's almost finished. I might be able to do vocals since my brother has a cheap microphone, but I'd need someone to do the guitar and bass parts.

I might be able to help you, provided it's not too difficult...

Stoic 06-06-2006 04:24 PM

Manilla Road have a song called Necropolis :p

Lord Abortion 06-06-2006 04:25 PM

I think there's probably a few bands named that, too.

I wanted to name mine that, but it's too popular

Shattered_Future 06-06-2006 04:26 PM

Hell, you could always go with the classic "Necroscrotum".

Steerpike 06-06-2006 04:58 PM

The riffs aren't a problem. The solo get a little technical, and the bass work requires some skill.

Stoic 06-06-2006 05:00 PM

Alex, did you receive my e-mail? If not please check your junk mail. I get the feeling that hotmail and gmail put yahoo into junk :-\

Steerpike 06-06-2006 05:39 PM

Yeah, but my browser's giving me some problems. I'm going to try again after I reboot later tonight.

Thanks, though. It's really friggin' hard to find these albums.

I can help with the bass if need be.

Stormrider 06-06-2006 07:18 PM

Coolest thing happened today. I walked out of class to get a drink of water, and went into my friends music class. It was a substitute. When he saw me, he told me "nice shirt !" I was wearing my demons and wizards shirt. He had his guitar with him, he then played the beginning of Fiddler on the Green. So I start talking to him...turns out he's a Power Metal fanatic. Loves Rhapsody and Blind Guardian, and more stuff. It was pretty cool :)

He had his guitar, 2 other people had their Bass and guitar with them so yeah...

Steerpike 06-06-2006 08:21 PM

There are only three riffs for the bass and guitar in the song. There's an intro, verse, and chorus riff.

The tempo is 120 bpm, and the time is 4/4. I opted for something that wasn't too complex.

The verse bass riff is the most complex. Here's the tab:

G|----------------------|---------------------|
D|----------------------|---------------------|
A|--2-------------------|--2--------5---3-----|
E|-------000020003000--|------0000----------|

All notes on the A string are quarter notes. All notes on the E string are 16th notes.

Not being a bassist myself, I just sort of noodled until I found something that sounded good.

The intro bass line is just 4 bars with an open E whole note to each bar.

The chorus is a straight quarters beat with slap bass. I'll tab that out a little later.

Deth 06-06-2006 08:30 PM

My slap tone sucks, but I'll try to adjust it. It gets way too trebly.

I am highly consirdering entering in the comp this month. I have some good Epic sounding material. Also its so vague I can kinda do what ever.

Does anyone know how to record bass well?

Lord Abortion 06-07-2006 09:49 AM

I don't know what is being sent...but can I have some too?

So who here is a power metal vocalist? In these songwriting competitions I always lose points for my vocals. I got someone else to do vocals for me on the last one and hey, I came in first place. Only problem is I don't see him doing power metal for me...

Lord Tim posts in here every now and again... Oh what a glorious fantasy come true that would be....

Apocalyptic Raids 06-08-2006 09:48 PM

Ollie is a vocalist.

Riva 06-09-2006 12:13 AM

Ollie is probably the best vocalist out of all of us, besides Tim. I do vocals too, and apparently so do all the others that are coming out of the woodwork.

That would truly be awesome.

Everyone thinks they can do vocals. Myself included. It's not until we recieve any criticism that we find out whether or not we're any good. Unfortunately, I have yet to recieve an ounce of criticism, so I have no friggin clue.

MetalOz 06-09-2006 03:34 PM

Maybe what I should be asking is, who would be willing to try vocals for a song that I write and also are you a lyricist too or should I write the lyrics? I actually recorded myself singing the last song I did and gave that version to the vocalist since I had ideas for the melody lines but I'm open to whatever contributions are offered :)

Slapping Penguin 06-09-2006 10:17 PM

I really wanted to enter this but I have exams. Worst possible timming.

sensitiveorgan00 06-10-2006 02:53 PM
