Jeez. I'm glad things like that don't happen at the Clackamas Town Center. I'd be dead for sure as much as I find myself wandering around there.
|
I know, I go to that mall all the time, it's weird. I usually spend a lot of time in the Sam Goody where the guy was holding the people hostage too. :-/

Much better than when I saw them open for Dredg, but still not very good. They added a few more ambient songs with keyboards in their songs and it was a lot better for it. They still didn't seem hugely into the show, though all seem to be pretty competent musicians. If they could put in some more energy it'd be a much better show though I wasn't a huge fan of the music as is. Actually, take that back, the ambient pieces were worth listening to. However, after the set, I could tell the crowd wasn't too into it with comments like "longest 15 minutes of my life" floating around. The Bled: Generic generic generic. I'm so tempted to just say "sterotypical hardcore band" and leave it at that. But I'm a fair person, and I will say the crowd seemed fairly into them (they are local so I expected that) and they did get people moshing without having to tell them to do so. Still, it wasn't unlistenable, just nothing worth buying. Underoath: I was actually pretty excited to see these guys mainly because I'd yet to hear their music and I'd gotten mixed reviews about them, so I finally got the chance to see how they are. They put on a real good show, the lighting and everything actually added a lot, which is rarer and rarer at shows nowadays. Really hard and intense (and super high energy) but not fantastic music. However, I've heard good things about their first two albums, so I might be inclined to check those out now. What was more astonishing than anything about these guys though was that people started leaving after they played. I mean, the openers were pretty decent, but not worth $20 to me. Oh well. Thrice: Well, there was pretty much no way I could give my favorite band a bad review, they'd have had to have had the most off night ever, and that didn't happen, thankfully. However, it certainly got off to a rough start. After the opener, Image of the Invisible, Teppei was having technical difficulties for a good five minutes, so finally Dustin gets set to play a song while it's getting fixed, but then it got fixed and they moved on. Too bad, I was looking forward to an extra song in the set. They played probably an equal mix of IOS, TAITA, and Vheissu, which was pretty surprising since this is their tour for Vheissu, but not necessarily surprising in a bad way. Nothing off Identity Crisis or First Impressions though, which was the biggest disappointment of the night, most of the crowd was screaming for Phoenix Ignition during the encore, alas, to no end. Other than that, good stuff, very enjoyable show and definitely the most exhausting I've ever been to bar maybe Streetlight Manifesto. However, since I biked home from this show, I was definitely feeling it a lot more. Oh, and Thrice fans are dicks, as a rule. Shame shame. |

Sounds like a pretty sweet concert Vince, I was supposed to go to a show on that tour a while ago but couldn't.
|
Did you see it with Matt yet?
Nope, I probably won't until it comes out on dvd because I am poor as hell right now and I need my money for other things. Vince: Sweet show. I like every band there quite a bit. |

I love rain and bad weather. But that might be because it rains like 3 times a year here and is never cooler than 20 degrees C.
