so I have this emo thread on a forum and here's one response I got:
"this isn't emo. the links you've posted are scream metal, also known as screamo. emo comes from the Norwegian word "emosjonell" [i.e. emotional, obviously], and the songs that so-called "emos" make are typically sad and voted down [no, I do not know what this is supposed to mean]. a good example of this is My Chemical Romance." |
That's hilarious. Sounds like he had an impression that My Chemical Romance were the epitomy of Emo and looked for a source to confirm that, grabbing some random link off google without knowing anything about what he was talking about.
But um... that sounded like a response to a comment I made in the Black Metal thread. |
the split with The Black Heart Rebellion? is it any good?
Idk, just listened to it, not their best track. Adorno still kicks ass though. |
listenin to adorno now
|
I think I understand what Juddybear is trying to say. It would have been better if City of Caterpillar had produced more material.
But they themselves would not neccessarily have improved skill or talent wise. They would not neccessarily have produced better material, they may have even produced worse material, theoretically.
this guy gets it, idk why everyone else is having such a hard time comprehending what i said, derps all around |
Because people over analyze and like to nit pick and get into pointless arguments. Bordom and lack of actually caring about the people they're talking to I guess... and maybe just a way of venting frustration. I've been there.
|
werd, new guy...idk why mad people are nitpicking at everything i say as of late
|
Yeah, it sucks. I find in those situations the best thing to do is say nothing. Whenever I let myself get baited, I just end up absorbing more ridicule by people who think I'm stupid because they can't understand me. It's better that people think you're wrong when you're right than the other way around.
|
damn new guy, you seem mad reasonable and have somewhat good taste in music, youre alright
|
justin's got a crush
|
Haha thanks, you have good taste too. Capitalization and puncutation could improve the aesthetics of your posts though, if you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism. :)
I'm liking these boards, people know so much good underground music. The album rating/reviewing is what drew me to the site. I just wish you could see everyone's music taste pie in their profile. |
oooh shit another justin posting-style hater
words of advice new bro, don't pay any attention to the actual review site everybody there is an idiot just come to this part of the forums if you're actually looking for some good recommendations and conversation and get used to an absence of capitalization and punctuation |
anthony stoppit youre embarrassing me! *_*'
|
Yeah, the review part of the site is starting to loose it's novelty.
|
it's just a bunch of pretentious hipster fags who think they know everything about music but in actuality don't know anything and are actually retards
|
yeah the review site is awful, the posters there are insufferable, like, worse than the worst posters here
|
Oh yeah, a lot of the criticizms on legitimately awesome bands' reviews were such intollerable rubbish. And then after saying a true work of art should conform to their ignorant taste they'd just start spamming back and forth about what they had for lunch or some crappy show they went to and saw tits flashed like they were 16 and still hadn't dropped their balls.
Is that what you're refering to? |
every single post on the review site is what im referring to
|
Lol, okay. Well for the most part they are glorified spam.
|
we all despise the review site if you havent noticed already lol
|
S'all good. I really think at least one forum on the internet needs a music taste pie that's publicly viewable in everyone's profile though. Petition that!
|
i guess idk, doesnt really seem like anyone here is clamoring for such a thing
|
Yeah, the review part of the site is starting to loose it's novelty.
its* i dont ever correct peoples' grammar but god damn if you're gonna do it at least get that right |
I forgot about Adorno, what's wrong with me? :(
|
Haha, thanks. That's one taboo I've got to curb. I keep doing it without realising.
|
austin stfu
i want some screamo with broots breakdowns like neil perry |
Haha, thanks. That's one taboo I've got to curb. I keep doing it without realising.
see you should've replied back insulting me but now that you actually thanked me for being a smartass i feel bad thanks new guy |
So that worked out in my favor in the end. XP
Okay, how about this, "Don't lecture me on a trivial error anybody can make until you pass grade one grammar yourself idiot!" How was that? Screamo with Neil Perry breakdowns... honestly I never really payed much attention to breakdowns in Screamo till you metioned it. Didn't even realise Neil Perry had such sweet breakdowns and the first song I listened to to check it out, Fading Away Like the Rest of Them had a sick breakdown 3 seconds into the song! |
Yeah, Neil Perry, Jeromes Dream, and Joshua Fit For Battle = best breakdownz.
|
breathing with one bad lung is p much the best breakdown in screamo
|
Word. Seeing Means More is another skramz with ill breakdowns band that I really like.
The metalcore as fuck breakdown in Beach is chill. |
Word. Seeing Means More is another skramz with ill breakdowns band that I really like.
awes, gonna check them out right away, whats their best release? |
they have a 6 song ep and a split with efra, that's it

Seeing means more is kinda eh. Adorno is amazing
|
they have a 6 song ep and a split with efra, that's it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQTeM0La_lI
werd, gonna dl that neow |
Chyeah.
@Ethan: The two songs on their split are sweet, but yeah, the EP is kind of monotonous. Bigman's vocals are incredible though. They have ill breakdowns though, on the real. |
So how much stuff has City of Caterpillar released?
|
So how much stuff has City of Caterpillar released?
s/t and a split with pg99 |
Alright, yeah, when I downloaded Pg.99's Document #9 it didn't have City of Caterpillar's stuff on it, and then I found this Demo & Live Recordings album, and it basically just has live versions of their songs and then the missing two songs from that split. So it all worked out in the end I guess.
And I downloaded 1000 Travels of Jawaharlal's discography. Honestly, I've yet to even hear a Screamo band I do not like. I think I have listened to more Screamo bands than any other genre, and there's still so many I've yet to hear. Man... I don't have enough time in my life to listen to all the good music, let alone time to waste on anything that isn't awesome! |
don't see what's so special about pg.99, they have like 3 songs i like and one of them is a filth cover
