Spiritual Healing isn't the older sound, though, it's in between the old sound and the middle-era sound. It's their transition album and subsequently their least interesting one.

It does have hints of Human in it, but I always thought of it as an older sound. The only songs I really think is cool on that album are "Living Monstrosity" and "Genetic Reconstruction".

I guess for me Human > Leprosy > Symbolic > Scream Bloody Gore > SOP > ITP > SH.

I hate the Sound of Perseverance. Every song follows the same goddamn formula.

TSOP is pretty basic in terms of songwriting, but the riffs on that album are just soooo damn good. The first four tracks are some of the band's best ever.

That album bores me to tears. It's way too predictable.

Christy isn't too good either.

Christy is great at the style he's playing.

im one of the few that likes spiritual healing the most, although its kind of tied with human for my favorite death album.

Christy is awesome. See Spirit Crusher for proof. Or hell, the entire album.

Hoglan was Death's best drummer for sure... he is ****ing incredible on ITP, the speeds he hits on his double kicks are mind-blowing in certain spots.

As for Chuck's vocal work, I'd have to say that Leprosy is his best then Symbolic and TSOP is his worst... especially on the Painkiller cover.

I honestly don't think the vocals do much to the music one way or another, considering it's always good and fun to listen to.

Comparing Hoglan and Christy isn't really fair at all, though. Hoglan is more precise and refined while Christy is flashy as ****.

I happen to actually enjoy the drumming quite a bit on Leprosy as well. Bill Andrews goes into these slow breaks at points and then just explodes with intensity.

For once I think DiGiorgio has good bass tone too, in Death.

i like bill andrew's drumming on both SH and Leprosy. its not near as technical as his successors but its effective and catch for the most part. wow the Death thread is missing out on some discussion it seems.

I'd have to say that Bite the Pain is easily my favorite song off of TSOP... Scavenger of Human Sorrow comes in at a close second though. Not to mention that Bite the Pain has some of my favorite Death lyrics included in it...
