Okay.

Thanks for being relevent to the topic and all.

lunch998 05-16-2005 05:00 PM

Well he never is. He just randomly says something useless.

Illmatic 05-16-2005 05:08 PM

I saw Do The Right Thing again last night (work of art, one of the ten best movies ever) and it inspired my new AIM screenname

lunch998 05-16-2005 05:20 PM

I watched the Devil's Advocate today, and despite Keanu's brilliant acting, it's actually a great movie. Al Pacino makes a great Devil, I think.

Illmatic 05-16-2005 05:27 PM

Never seen The Devil's Advocate.

The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Do The Right Thing, The Shawshank Redemption, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Big Lebowski, Fight Club, Jackie Brown, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Hoop Dreams would be my top ten in no particular order. With honorable mentions to GoodFellas, Apocalypse Now, He Got Game, Trainspotting, Fargo, and Spinal Tap.

lunch998 05-16-2005 05:28 PM

Most of those are in my favorites as well.

Illmatic 05-16-2005 05:31 PM

As you can see, I'm not really into science fiction or fantasy. Most of it is just nonsense IMO (although I can see the appeal). I prefer movies with some degree of realness and realism.

The Shawshank Redemption is such a great movie.

Dancin' Man 05-16-2005 05:39 PM

Blazing Saddles, Fight Club, Vanilla Sky, Memento, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill (Vol. 1&2),Silent Movie, Kung Fu Shuffle, Igby Goes Down and The Secret Lives of Altar Boys with honorable mention to Donny Darko.

I quite like your list Ray. I remember the first time I saw The Big Lebowski. I was like 12 at a summer camp and my suite mates (it was in a dorm) were both like 16 or 17 and they thought it was hilarious. I played a lot of N64 Duke Nukem that summer.

Bartender 05-16-2005 05:43 PM

I'm surprised you guys can so easily come up with a top ten.

EDIT: And funnily enough I just started watching The Big Lebowski a few minutes before I came online.

Illmatic 05-16-2005 05:52 PM

Why thank you, DM.

And Bartender, you might notice that I have a top 15 or so.

Dancin' Man 05-16-2005 05:55 PM

And my list is 11 + 1. There are other movies out there I like equally as much I'm sure but of those in my head, that is the list.

Bartender 05-16-2005 06:02 PM

Well honourable mentions don't really count :)

I'd have taken longer even to come up with a vague list though. I guess I think too much.

To start on another note, to those of you who have iTunes, what is your most played song?

Beyond the Dark Sun - Wintersun

ATM 05-16-2005 08:03 PM

According to my scrobbler, Radiohead - Where I End and You Begin.

Dancin' Man 05-16-2005 08:04 PM

Will someone tell me how to update my winamp and then install audioscrobbler? I have version 2.81 of winamp.

Viking metal \m/

I have no clue to as what is my most played song, since I use neither itunes or audioscrobbler. But it's probably Vintersorg - Dialogue With The Stars or Arcturus - Ad Astra or The Chaos Path. My current most played song though is The Black Dahlia Murder - Thy Horror Cosmic.

I tried the audioscrobbler once and it never logged any of the songs I played...

ATM 05-16-2005 08:16 PM

It ususally takes a little while to get started. Also, you may need to download a program that lets all of your files get recognized by scobbler, called Music Brains.

Dancin' Man 05-16-2005 08:18 PM

My most played this week is probably Esqarial - Inheritance, Aesop Rock - Flashflood or Hollenthon - Enrapture: Hinc Illae Lacrimae
Has anyone seen Bobo around? :(

He must be playing Guild Wars or whatever game it was that he recently purchased. Or is busy with work and whatnot. He was the one that brought me back here to begin with.

EDIT to munky's below post: That's too bad. I've been waiting to wish the man a happy birthday (well, much belated, now) since it rolled around, but I haven't seen him around :-\
So there you go. Happy birthday (much belated, now), you butt-fucking pussy :)

Have one on me. Or something. :chug:

Heh, 'tis late, but I appreciate it since you are one of the few to actually say that other then my parents.

Yes, I have been playing Guild Wars, but I managed to beat the story line part of it, so I am going to not play it as extreme from here on heh. Still lots of playing ahead of me, but no "I must play for 12 hours straight to get to where I want to go!" kind of stuff heh.

I played it like that for 5 days straight when I had time off work due to "minor surgery" done to my toe due to an infection/ingrown toenail.

Between that, work, and guitar playing I have not had much time to post on the forums. Also those things took my thoughts away from the forum and I never really thought about posting, but I did read some threads just never posted...

NP - Ulver - Nowhere - Catastrophe

I love this album one of my favorites and it's not even close to metal...can't wait for the new Ulver album to come out. I heard one of the songs off it and I was very happy to how it sounded...really weird video though.

Dancin' Man 05-16-2005 08:33 PM

I love Ulver but just wish they had released one more album like Bergtatt. How strangt ethat that was their first full length and it kicks the crap out of so many other bands after they have progressed and improved.

RiceMonster 05-16-2005 08:41 PM

I need to get that Ulver album. I've only got Nattens Madrigal. A damn good album though.
Because clearly, pop culture in every other country is immaculate, right?
Well, I didn't mention other nations because this is an American movie. That and I'm not informed on other pop cultures enough to make judgements.

/felt the need to reply, though it was 3 pages back.
I resent that, to an extent, being that I'm and American and I hate the movie as well.
You, my friend, are an exception.

ArcLite 05-17-2005 03:55 AM

Who is Kylie Minogue? I need to watch Episode I and II again to freshen up before I go see it. This one should be cool. We got Anakin's turn to the dark side, his crash (including donning the of black Vader suit), and his rise to power in the empire. I'm quite excited to see it.
To start on another note, to those of you who have iTunes, what is your most played song?
I don't have iTunes. My audioscrobbler says it's Boris - Feedbacker. But it LIES! Boris have five different tracks on my computer, all called Feedbacker, and the 'scrobbler can't tell the difference, so it doesn't count. So I guess my top track (as of the last update, May 8th, anyway) is Jeff Beck - Rollin' and Tumblin'.

Having said that, my fragmentary weekly charts have appeared;

Weekly Artist Chart
1 Jedi Mind Tricks 51
2 Elvis Costello 39
3 A Perfect Circle 24
4 Danny Elfman 19
5 The Wildhearts 18
6 The Mars Volta 17 (bah)
6 The Simpsons 17
8 Týr 15
9 Therapy? 15
10 Oasis 11

Top Tracks
1 Týr - The Edge 12
2 The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute (Decoder Single) 6
3 Jedi Mind Tricks - The Worst 5
3 Jedi Mind Tricks - Saviorself 5

ArcLite 05-17-2005 04:22 AM

Hey Tender, what do Tyr sound like? And what's a good album to check out? I've heard their name before but never given them a listen.

Bartender 05-17-2005 04:28 AM

They do that whole epic viking metal thing. I don't have an album, just a couple of songs, but it looks like Eric the Red is their one to get. I just uploaded The Edge for a Forced Listening, actually. Give me a second and I'll go get the link.

Bartender 05-17-2005 04:55 AM

No problem. Thank Bobo, really, he's where I got the songs in the first place.

But yeah, the bit where he sings "And let them kill me just the same; I should have lied and played their game" is awesome. Most of it is, though.

BoboTheRagingHobo 05-17-2005 05:46 AM

I am addicted to that album right now...

Very good guitar work and very good vocals, plus there is a song that sounds like a pirate song/story.

That is the first time I have ever seen you get excited like that haha. :amaze:

But ya, I did not know that...it sounds like a pirate song to me heh, but that is cool that it's an old Irish folk song. That explains the drinking part, but his vocals reminded me of pirates, but Irish accents never crossed my mind.

/dling

Dropkick Murphys are awesome as well.

Bartender 05-17-2005 06:10 AM

I think the Irish have a lot in common with pirates, both inside music and out, so either seems to work. In fact, it may well be a song about being a pirate, for all I know. All I know for sure is that it's an Irish folk song.

And as for getting excited..I suppose I just really like Irish music :)
