I wish I could sing badly but I cant hey are you in a band?

kurrpt 05-19-2005 08:06 AM

well, technically......................................i guess that would be a yes....but its complicated. I had a desire to be in a band, had troubles joining others. Made my own. Problem is, the drummer was supposed to be temporary cause he refuses to learn the music. The bassist i got is now officially poisoned by this drummer, so i need to find a new project.

Harsh I have only recently only joined a new band but the drummer is being a **** (all drummers are pricks) and all he wants to do is metallica not even stuff he makes up just metallica so we dont know what to do now.

kurrpt 05-19-2005 08:11 AM

well, if my drummer wasnt such a lazy arse, and actually learned some metallica songs, i would do them. Im not a big fan, but that would be SOME effort, as opposed to the 0 he outputs now. Hes all about "doing originals" but cant even learn a single dam song from beginning to completion.

I was discouraged for a while, now i just focus on my technical skills and say FUK THEM

Iplaythegeeeeetar! 05-19-2005 05:25 PM

this thread has gotten useless.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-19-2005 05:26 PM

Explain how. Theres not a lot to report on from the tool world

Futuro 05-19-2005 05:28 PM

well in a few months there will be......hopefully

Darkness 05-19-2005 05:34 PM

Its day 7 of my tool fast... I keep waking up with various songs stuck in my head... it sucks. Luckily I have Opeth to get me through this tough time.

Futuro 05-19-2005 05:37 PM

...tool fast.....how dare you, the lord himself will smite thy soul....JK

Idiot Martyr 05-19-2005 07:15 PM
i cant scream....but i like the softer melodic stuff
Me too, and my friends view that as a bad thing for some reason
...tool fast.....how dare you, the lord himself will smite thy soul....JK
Yeah he wants to anticipate and appreciate the new album more. That could mean a year or longer without Tool

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-19-2005 08:58 PM

You guys both seem to be in a fairly sucky situation. For me, I have no chance of being in a band for a couple reasons.

1. I've only been playing for 8 or so months, so I doubt any established musicians would want to creep at my pace. :p
2. The area I live in is 3/4 hispanic. Mexicans don't like rock. I like rap
3. Right now I am engulfed in school, and when summer hits, I'll be working full time.

However, I've been trying to convince one of my friends to pick up drums again. He did percussion for our school's band for 3 years, then gave it up when he hit high school. I'm not sure how adept he is with a full kit, but it would be worth a shot. That would be a fun project. :p

Fix'd for misconception.

Darkness 05-19-2005 08:59 PM

When I go to Italy this summer for 2 weeks, my friend said I'll be aloud to listen to one Tool album, as a kinda intermission. I look forward to that trip now because of that.

Dr. Jake Destructo 05-19-2005 09:02 PM

What album are you going to listen to?

Darkness 05-19-2005 09:03 PM

Either Lateralus or Ænema, but probably Lateralus.

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-19-2005 09:04 PM
The other quarter are also rap loving fags. (I'm not trying to diss rap, I'm just saying that they don't listen to rock, so it's hard to start a rock band when most people just want to 'freestyle.')
You know, you wouldn't even have needed that insincere sentence in parentheses if you weren't obtuse enough to call people "rap loving fags."

On the Tool-fasting bit, I'm considering doing the same leading up to the concert, so I don't become borderline (here it is) bored with them.

Darkness 05-19-2005 09:05 PM

Thats one of the reasons I'm doing it, as I was over playing them to much...

Futuro 05-19-2005 10:35 PM

i used to be in a cover band of tool so even when i didn't feel like listening to them i had to.

Huber 05-19-2005 10:38 PM

I'm not going to completely stop listening to Tool, but I'm going to ease up on it. I haven't been listening much lately. Maybe a song a day/every other day

jamesclelland 05-19-2005 11:06 PM

i'm so pissed, i lost lateralus. i almost want to cry.

Futuro 05-20-2005 12:45 AM

ahhhhh... cds are cheap so buy a new one

horseypie 05-20-2005 04:13 AM

or you could burn it and be a musical pirate and sail the high seas of soundwaves without paying a cent

like me

its amazing how some people's taste in music is so flawed

clearvision 05-20-2005 08:29 AM

Darkness 05-20-2005 08:33 AM

I have a fullt time job for the summer to pay for my new equipment for guitar

and get him to do it if he has had some experience with drums because you will get along a lot better than getting someone who has never played drums to pick them up.

there is no verse guitar part?

kurrpt 05-20-2005 11:38 AM

i think hes talking about the 2p0 parts during the "verse"

Adam Jones is GOD 05-20-2005 11:40 AM

The part 'where everyone has a different way of playing it, but no one can seem to get it like the original' bit.

Wait, thats pretty much the whole song.

kurrpt 05-20-2005 11:42 AM

yea i have a problem with lateralus now :-(
