Has anyone here heard Rush's cover of "Crossroads"?
I think Cream's better, but what I like better on this one is that the lyrics could be understood, not like in Cream's that Clapton seems to be mumbling the words. |
I just bought a Garcia picture book at my library for 2 dollars. :D
Color in the acid  |
Jeez I cannot pick a favorite. I love Since I've Been Lovin You, forgot about that. Black Mountain Side is really good, especially on that dvd.
I heard the Tool cover was like evil. I'll have to check it out cause I only have Lateralus. Which is a great album. |
Since I've Been Loving you is perfect on the DVD.
|
Let's talk about the Doors, we don't do that often...
favorite song? The End or Touch Me. |
When the Music Stops
|
The End, Roadhouse Blues, Strange Days, Backdoor Man, Wild Child
I can't really choose. There's seriously like one song by them I don't like. |
Light My Fire!!
I love that song... It's just so simple, and I dunno, it's just catchy. |
Light My Fire is a great song.
|
Who's heard that new song that was previously unreleased like "Celebration of the Lizard" or something?
|
Does anyone else think Garage Rock sucks?

Garage Rock? Describe. Oh, and Badmoon, will you please review Deja Vu? |
Ok badmoon just change the subject on me.

Garage Rock is simplistic, regular rock n roll. Bands like The Strokes, The White Stripes, ect. These bands suck.
|
maybe
You said you would a long time ago. I'd like to do CSN s/t. |
I used to like the White Stripes. I should be shamed :upset:
|

The Hives, The Killers, The Vines. Yes they suck. I can describe their albums in one word: filler |
I'm a lazy reviewer. Every now and then I'll post like a 2,000 worded one to make up for my days lost.
|
Would Jet go under the classification of "Garage rock"?
|
sure
|

You're one of the best reviewers out there. |
my fave doors song is when the musics over...
new garage rock sucks. when it first came out around '69 it was awesome. most bands to come out of detroit in the late sixties and early seventies were consider garage rock. |
I like the Lizard song, and I like the White Stripes. Maybe some of their more mainstream songs suck, but the acoustic/folk ones they do on their cds aren't bad. I've also heard some blues stuff by them. You just shouldn't pay attention to stuff like Seven Nation army. As for the other garage rock, I don't like them. Especially Jet.
|
I try. :), and thanks :)

well, original garage rock were like The Beatles, but what those guys back then were doing was original and unseen. And had high emphasis on the vocals, which isn't like the crap now. |
I think the Kinks are sorta garage rock. Good garage rock.
|
I don't know, call me crazy, but I think Jet has the potential to do something great. That's just my opinion. I've always hated the White Stripes, whenever I listen a new song of them, I think I'm listening to the one before that. But if this bands have what it takes to put down Hip hop, then great, as long as I don't have to hear that crap they call rap.
And I've listened to Deja Vu, it's a great album. Love the vocals on the tracks. |
Almost Cut My Hair=masterpiece
|
Yea, most of the earliest garage Rock was Blues influenced English fellas. The late sixties where like Punkish. Like The Stooges, and such.
|
My Dad loves the Kinks.
I think they're great, they really evolved. From "You Really Got Me" to "Lola" |
Then under which category would you put a band like Cream?
|
Cream was to technical and Psychedelic. They stayed away from repetetive formulas.
|
I think that Zeppeling took what Cream did and implemented it themselves to be what they were.
If you compare both bands closely, you'll see they are basically the same. Just that Cream were only together for 2 years. I've always hear people saying what it's great of Led Zeppelin, and what they did first before every other band, but most of those things Cream did first. |
I believe the only band you can relate to Cream, is The Experience. They have a deep pychotic Blues sound that is complemented with some kind of Psychedelic sense. Which comes out of no where.
|
Good Point.
Zeppelin did incorporate Blues, but barely scraped psychedelia. |
The bads were also good friends. Hendrix's version of Sunshine of Your Love is cool.
