A message from Mike Portnoy on his forums:
Greetings from our dressing room in Hiroshima... We just finished rehearsing some of this weekend's classic album and I am EXCITED! It is gonna ROCK big time and is going to be a BLAST to play! I don't think it is an album that anybody is expecting as it is probably the least predictable of any of the albums we've covered so far... But it is perfectly suited for us and sounds awesome! I can't wait! MP
Interesting... |
Here's my vocal cover of The Spirit Carries On :D
http://media.putfile.com/The-Spirit-Carries-On---Jack-on-Vocals Only up till the solo though. Backing track's MIDI from Power Tabs. It's my first vocal cover of any song, please crit. |

Does anyone have the link to the Petrucci Gigantour pic. The one where he has the spikey hair and baggy pants.

They've released the only one I care about....March 14, 2006 at the Fillmore Auditorium, Denver, CO. :D |

Wow. I've never seen the Gigantour site before. It looks brilliant.
|
I got my I&W live DVD working.
I love the version of surrounded. It's pant-wettingly great |
It's gonna be a Europe album.
I really can't see them doing that. Maybe that's the whole point though :D If they did a Rush or a Tool cover... Words cannot describe how awesome that would be. |

It could be something really different, like Gore Obsessed by Cannibal corpse:p
Maybe Rust in peace? |
Maybe Rust in peace?
I would cream. |
i ordered I&W / 5 years in a livetime DVD :]
3-5 days and it's MINE HAHAHAHA!!! rust in peace would be nice. |

Words cannot describe how awesome that would be.
Rush is a too obvious band for them to cover, so it won't be that. Tool would be very interesting, I'd love to hear that. I think Pantera may be a possibility, VDOP perhaps. |
I just saw a NY DT 3rd row ticket for +800 smackaroonies.

I just bought General Admission tickets and snuck to the front. |
I just bought General Admission tickets and snuck to the front.
How would you do that in an all seated gig? I'm pretty sure the NY show is gonna be sold out. |
Rush is a too obvious band for them to cover, so it won't be that.
It's not that obvious a choice at this point, considering the band has nearly purged all traces of Rush's sound and style from their own. I think they could benefit from covering a group that actually requires subtlety and dynamics instead of "BRAAWR! METAL!" -type groups all of the time. EDIT: And I really don't think covering Tool would be a good idea. Petrucci ≠ Jones LaBrie definitely ≠ Keenan |
