Wow 03-12-2006 12:51 AM
^ Which one is JT, anyway? I don't know anything about the band and MySpace is being lame for me or else I'd check who does that...PureVolume doesn't say who does what, only names.

So tonight I heard Panic! At the Disco for the first time...wow. They're horrible and their singer sounds just like the dude from Fall Out Boy.

On a better note, Ash, got any more bands that sound like On the Might of Princes? DFelon reccomended this band Tara Melos to me and I'm not sure what I think about them yet...it's pretty good, though.

Anyway, any recccomendations, Ash or anyone?

Hmmm man. OtMoP are just incredible. I can't think of any that are close, but I can think of bands you'd like if you dig them, like The Appleseed Cast.

Oh and srt, I said that to him because HH are awful and I hate them for converting people I know to scenesters.

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 12:53 AM

<3 The Appleseed Cast

They're playing the First Unitarion soon.

And Chow-Mein noodles are ridiculously good.

And they branded your whole state as lovers when there are most definately haters among you. For example you Ash are a hater.

whiteminority 03-12-2006 12:58 AM
I hate scene fags who say "dancecore" or "spazzcore." It makes me wanna blow my brains out. Because it's so scene to be "dancey" now.
What the fuck, dancey? What the hell does that mean?

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 01:03 AM
What the fuck, dancey? What the hell does that mean?
Like the Blood Brothers basically. They quote unquote dance parts that make you wanna clap and dance or whatever.

bottlerocket 03-12-2006 01:04 AM

^ There's a lot of kids who are like:

Dude, I toally hope this band brings the mosh. I wanna dance.

I love throwing down.

etc.

You know...the kids at the mall with girl pants, skin tight white shirts that only cover half of their stomach, and like, 5 bandanas coming out of their pockets? You know...just incase they spontaneously need to mosh right then and there...and if the bandanas give them magical moshing powers.

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 01:09 AM

Nah, I don't mean hardcore dance. Like dancey like upbeat, clap along, jump around dance.

whiteminority 03-12-2006 01:11 AM

This is why I think fighting should come back to hardcore shows. I want to kick some ass at shows.

cbmartinez 03-12-2006 01:22 AM

NIKO CALLIN YOU OUT

Verte 03-12-2006 02:04 AM

Time for a random THESE BANDS ROCK OMG post

Louise Cyphre
La Quiete
Daitro
Raien
Amanda Woodward
Belle Epoque
Eaves
Envy
Apoplexy Twist Orchestra

I've been on this wierd foreign music binge lately.

THAT IS ALL

whiteminority 03-12-2006 02:05 AM

Thats a decent binge.

Brain Toad 03-12-2006 02:37 AM

Speaking of Amanda Woodward, I saw La Decadence De La Decadence on vinyl at the record store the other day. I thought about buying it and decided against it.

whiteminority 03-12-2006 02:46 AM

That was a poor decision.

Brain Toad 03-12-2006 02:51 AM

Heh. I'm not big on buying vinyls of bands I only mildly enjoy. And knowing the punk section at that record store, it'll be there for a long while.

whiteminority 03-12-2006 02:55 AM

I wish there was a punk section at my local record store. The store has rockabilly and country only. :(

Brain Toad 03-12-2006 03:10 AM

That's the joy of the Bay Area. The same store that is in my own city sucks though, lots of crappy music, reflects the music taste of my city.

RetiredAt21 03-12-2006 08:40 AM

Even the record store around here with "good" music, sucks. What sucks even more though, is, members of August Burns Red and the Memory work there. Fags.

Matt? 03-12-2006 12:41 PM

sup d00dz?

hahaha scenester is a cult! and Gav, if you dig OTMOP you might also like At The Drive, Sparta, or some midwest bands like Rockets and Blue Lights, Bells on Trike, Cap n' Jazz...etc, if you don't listen to those bands already, that is. Midwest emo has that clean guitar/singing/screamy kinda thing going, similar to OTMOP.

SGlove 03-12-2006 12:52 PM

I just got into OTMOP
Go Fck Yrself is a great song.
I dled Sirens off of slsk and another one, I forget which.

I was contemplating making a thread about em but.. you know..

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 12:54 PM

yeah a thread on them would just be people from here discussing them in that thread.

Hipsters work at this one. They play bad music over the speakers and enjoy it ironically.

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 12:57 PM

I haven't visited the record store here, i'm doubtful about finding anything.

Matt? 03-12-2006 02:20 PM

i just finished one of my demo recordings, it came out alright i guess, i don't like the vocals but i can't sing well when i'm in a silent room

i'll try to get it on the computer in a lil bit

RetiredAt21 03-12-2006 02:35 PM
Hipsters work at this one. They play bad music over the speakers and enjoy it ironically.
Hahaha, those kind of people work at the "other" record store around here, but they don't really carry any good music at all.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 02:42 PM

The record store around here is pretty decent. They have The Locust and such bands. Once I saw Neil Perry. I had no cash :(

Is it just you? My band played its first show on friday. It went really good. We made $538. We played 3 actual songs and a joke improv song. We recorded the show and put it up on myspace. We're gonna record in a studio next week.:chug:

RetiredAt21 03-12-2006 02:44 PM

Wow, they had Neil Perry? That's pretty sweet. In Philly I saw a His Hero Is Gone record, but, I don't have a record player...so...yeah.

Matt? 03-12-2006 02:48 PM

yea it's all me untill i can find other people who have similar music tastes

wow fivehundred on your first show... wow i played shows all summer last year and didn't make a dollar :-/ pretty sweet deal getting the money for the studio

it took me forever to record the drums i kept messing up and then i got fed up and just stuck with the last take

i dropped my drumstick in the middle of it :(

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 02:50 PM

Oh. We're recording for free because I have connections. Is the recording quality for your music legit?

Matt? 03-12-2006 02:51 PM
Oh. We're recording for free because I have connections. Is the recording quality for your music legit?
woah cool

the quality is mediocre i guess, probably what is expected of a homemade demo

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 02:53 PM

Oh. I would like to hear your music once you post it online or something.

Matt? 03-12-2006 02:54 PM

yea i just gotta find a chord that would fit into the direct input thing of my computer :-/

Biggest WHAT THE **** ever. Why did you get paid and why did you take it? What kind of venue did you play?

Brain Toad 03-12-2006 03:00 PM
Wow, they had Neil Perry? That's pretty sweet. In Philly I saw a His Hero Is Gone record, but, I don't have a record player...so...yeah.
I bought a couple of my vinyls when I had a broken record player. Was very satisfying to finally listen to them.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 03-12-2006 03:11 PM
Biggest WHAT THE **** ever. Why did you get paid and why did you take it? What kind of venue did you play?
What do you mean why did we get paid and why did we take it? Its a local venue.

tornpictures 03-12-2006 03:16 PM

What I meant is is it a DIY venue? A club? Where do they get the money to pay a band (a HARDCORE band playing their first show.. I assume it's ahardcore band or at least a band with a hardcore DIY attitude) 500 something dollars?

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 03:22 PM

yeah that is seriously ridiculous. did you guys play that show with intentions of making money?

RetiredAt21 03-12-2006 03:24 PM
yeah that is seriously ridiculous. did you guys play that show with intentions of making money?
If not, that's quite a pleasent surprise.

deadohiosky9 03-12-2006 03:30 PM

yeah it is quite a pleasant surprise, but if they are a hardcore/punk band with DIY ethics then its really not cool to play a show for money. and what kind of venue has 500 dollars to give to a band? what the hell??
