I have a question for the Americans, and possibly for the Brits:

How often do you/people around you say 'I love you', because when I watch films or series (fiction) or documentaries (these people must be real), I really notice the excessive use of it.
not to much, we say more i hate you.(at least in San Diego)

Not very often.

I've only said it like, two or three times to my gf...it just sounds and feels weird.

I say it to my parents a lot, I guess it's more of a default thing for me.

Permanent Solution 04-30-2005 04:30 PM

Love is tossed around a lot in my experience. Almost every girl I know says it.

^^My parents say it to me a lot, but I never say it back. I don't believe it should be said out of habit, but what you believe.

ILoveMusic0106 04-30-2005 04:32 PM

Who here loves the simpsons as much as i do?

Bartender 04-30-2005 04:32 PM

I don't know. How much do you like them?
Wow, I really hate that line.
Yeah, me too. I really like the first line of the song though, or more specifically the way he sings it.

How do you mean? Do you mean honest, lover-to-lover I love you's, or just general use of the phrase in any kind of situation.

superpeer 04-30-2005 04:33 PM

Ah, so it's partially true. Saying 'I love you, mom' would sound extremely weird to me. Or saying it to a friend or something, I don't think anyone does that here.
Maybe we're hateful. I think our 'I love you' line sounds artificial and that's why no one says it.

lunch998 04-30-2005 04:33 PM

I also noticed girls tend to use it a bit/way too much. It doesn't really have much meaning sometimes when girls say it to all their friends all the time. On the other hand, I think guys try to avoid saying it as much as possible.

I don't think we're hateful, I think it's just that the phrase itself has become oversaturated and lost its meaning.

I have just lost all respect for most of the poseters in Hardcore/Emo.
I have just lost all respect for most of the poseters in Hardcore/Emo.
I didn't know anyone gave them respect in the first place.

Edit: Thats you get for going into that part of the forums. I avoid it at all costs.
It's the same old, really. Some people can be real douches on this site.

Arucard 04-30-2005 04:40 PM

Bah, doesnt matter. I didnt think all that stuff about Metalcore people being scene obsessed was true, but it is.

Has anyone here listened to "Threnody for the Victims of Horoshima" by Krzysztof Penderecki? Creepiest song I've ever heard.
