surfocalypse have u figured out that whole soft synth thing yet? i wanna make my own like piano things ... arghghghgh

Surf 02-20-2007 10:22 PM

Soft synth was hard so I gave up and started trying to install reason because it seems more suited to that kind of thing.
But it didn't work.
So I've started trying to just take some random melody from something and fiddle around with semitones/groove pool/frequency until it sound something like I want it to.

class 02-20-2007 10:41 PM

ah

np: Michio Kurihara - Wind Waltzes

everyone download it

Surf 02-21-2007 09:28 AM

^I've decided that I need more electronic stuff. any recommendations? I've just got a tax refund so I can go to the music store and pick some stuff up.

np: lucinda williams.

damn. girl got writing skills.

Also I've just realised that we still lack a mod. I thought pixies was going to be modded or something. Not really urgent, just a thought...

class 02-21-2007 09:36 AM

the knife - silent shout
m83 - dead cities, red seas, & lost ghosts
m83 - m83
lcd soundsystem - lcd soundsystem
lcd soundsystem - sound of silver
mum - mum: remixed
controller.controller - history

if i think of more, i'll let you know

Eliminator 02-21-2007 09:48 AM

Lucinda rules.

Get the following electronic albums:

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children
Air - Moon Safari
Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do
Venetian Snares - Rossz Csillag Alatt Született
M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts
Tangerine Dream - Phaedra
Autechre - Amber

Surf 02-21-2007 10:20 AM

ordered these and a bunch of books.

the knife - silent shout
m83 - dead cities, red seas, & lost ghosts
lcd soundsystem - lcd soundsystem
controller.controller - history
Air - Moon Safari

most of the ones elim mentioned were more expensive so I'll look for them in local shops and stuff where I don't have to pay delivery.

Eliminator 02-21-2007 10:22 AM

The ones I mentioned are a lot better than the crap lily did though.

Surf 02-21-2007 10:31 AM

Probably why they were more expensive.

I'll go and get them tomorrow maybe.

Eliminator 02-21-2007 10:33 AM

Why do the songs here suck so much?

class 02-21-2007 10:46 AM

samariah 02-22-2007 03:28 PM

samariah 02-22-2007 03:29 PM

thanks for the recent crit though. i see what you are saying. i dont agree 100% but i definitely see what you are saying. i dont feel its pathetic and souless but i suppose i have to make that more obvious to the reader.

TojesDolan 02-22-2007 03:32 PM

Not the piece samariah, don't try to read between the lines because I was being as straightforward as I could. It doesn't suck, it's just cliché.

Geez take yourself ligthly.
