Sabbat, yeah \m/ man the riff at the start How Have The Mighty Fallen is so ****ing METAL! \m/

RavenousMetalist87 12-04-2004 04:46 PM

Alone in The Dark - Testament (Currently playing on Music Choice Metal)

It's about **** time that Music Choice plays some great music. They get ++ for playing my favorite song.

Well...not really my favorite, but one of my favorites.

RavenousMetalist87 12-04-2004 04:53 PM

Today on the way to getting lunch, I showed my mom "Punishment for Decadance". She liked the cover of "Purple Haze", and she said "What does their other stuff sound like?"

So I started the CD from the first track and let it play to about Track 6.

Man...I didn't expect it to happen, but she loves Coroner's rhythm. She said those constantly shifting drum beats just make the music so interesting and great. She really loved it, and I gotta say, even though I get pissed at her sometimes, she can be awesome.

LordDargon 12-04-2004 05:00 PM

All together now, AWW, HOW SWEET.

Man I wish my folks would just once take an interest in my music instead of just calling it sh1t. I mean I respect my dads tastes, he listens to James Taylor, The Bee Gees and stuff like that and although it's as far away from thrash as you can get I can still sit there and listen to it.
Ah well, I can always force thrash upon my kids. \m/

Fender_Strat8915 12-04-2004 05:57 PM

"math metal" will pwn. (dillinger)

sensitiveorgan00 12-04-2004 06:01 PM

^ Aye.
I know it's not thrash, but the new Angra is so good. LordDargon, check it out! ;)

I'm sure you might've been the same way too, Dargon

RCA 12-04-2004 07:41 PM

I got ahold of Exodus' Turk Street demo, and a demo of theirs from 1982 today. The Turk Street demo is instruments only, and raw as hell, but still kicks ***. I haven't listened to the other demo yet, but I bet it'll be fun to listen to seeing how the songs on it were never released on an LP.

EDIT: Actually, I can hear Baloff's vocals on Bonded By Blood, which sound pretty cool on this demo.

Does anyone have the Exodus demo with the song "Dying By His Hand" on it?

RavenousMetalist87 12-05-2004 01:40 PM

!

They're playing "Reign of Terror" on Music Choice Metal!

****! :D :D :D :D :D

Whoops...lol

Apocalyptic Raids 12-06-2004 01:54 AM

*bump*

for those with soulseek, put Thrash Of The Titans into your wishlist, most excellent results await.

i managed to get from doing this:
Officer Nice - Vio-lence
Eternal Nightmare - Vio-lence
Serial Killer - Vio-lence
Voracious Souls - Death Angel
Through Eyes Of Glass - Forbidden
Alone in The Dark - Testament (With zetro and skolnick :O)
Into The Pit - Testement (again with skolnick)

but it can take a long time for the results to come up, so patience is needed.

(or you could just get them off me ^_^)

Nice work finding that out! So far i've got Alone In The Dark and Voracious Souls.
Everybody needs to see these, go get them now!

sensitiveorgan00 12-06-2004 03:34 PM
Do you guys order these special stations or something?
It comes with the cable service.

LordDargon 12-06-2004 03:41 PM

We only get "MuchMusic", the Canadian equivalent of MTV. I don't think I've ever watched it.

sensitiveorgan00 12-06-2004 03:57 PM

MuchMusic had or still has Loud. It played some good videos.

Random: Anacrusis is good thrash. Check them out.

Jamie FT 12-06-2004 05:21 PM

So Christmas is coming up soon.........just wondering what thrash stuff you're getting for xmas! :D I'll need some more testament, i've barely got any :upset: what about you lot?

RavenousMetalist87 12-06-2004 07:26 PM

I have 4 Testament albums:

The Legacy
The New Order
Practice What You Preach
Low

I suggest Live At The Fillmore, The Gathering and maybe something like Return To The Apocolyptic City if you have the 4 above.

SLATANIC-666 12-07-2004 12:10 PM

The only thrash I think I'll get at Xmas is maybe Coma of Souls as I'm trying to build up my collection of German thrash, I ordered Mad Butcher/Infernal Overkill a few days ago and it should arrive just in time for Xmas. Need more Sodom and Destruction. Plus I ordered Punishment for Decadence this week and that should arrive by friday.
I was also comtemplating purchasing Rude Awakening and Live Kreation for some good live thrash to watch over the holiday. I bought Rusted Pieces thinking it was a live show from the RIP era but as you guys probably already know its just videos, I'm such a retard. They're a good though, I think there's the videos to Peaces sells, Wake up Dead, In my Darkest Hour, Anarchy In The UK, Holy Wars and Hangar 18. In all honesty I'd never heard Dave Mustaine talk before so it was good to hear him speak(slurr :naughty: ).
Ellefson comes across as really bitter when he's on about some 'band' stealing ideas etc. I'm pretty sure who he was referring to but then again, its Megadeth and there's a long list of bands who they hate.

I found out about Anacrusis a few months ago.
http://apogee.whack.org/~ken/index.html
Thats there site to download the album. The first one pretty good, but them seem to go downhill from there.

For Christmas i've asked for over 40 albums, too many to list :)

Live at the Fillmore, yes, but once you have The Legacy and the New Order you're pretty much set for Testament. Unless you can find Legacy's 1986 demo somewhere... Also, d/l the remake of Reign of Terror.

LordDargon 12-08-2004 06:58 AM

The Gathering isn't bad either.

Anyways now that we basically have an entirely new crop of thrashers, it's time to ressurrect some old stuff we used to do, like naming your 5 favorite thrash and then non-thrash albums.

metal-militia 12-08-2004 11:50 AM
Go on write the list. Please. Are they all thrash?
yes all thrash and no way am i writing out 40+ albums :P
its stuff from bands like

Kreator
Overkill
Whiplash
Holy Terror < Everyone check them out, they are amazing :D

Edit:
Top 5 Thrash Albums
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Overkill - Horrorscope
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
Metallica - Kill em All
Slayer - Show No Mercy

hmm that was difficult, i almost put in Rust In Peace and Darkness Descends.

Favourite non thrash albums
Metallica - ...And Justice For All (I don't think of it as a proper thrash album)
Guns n Roses - Appetite For Destruction (got me into rock)
AC/DC - For Those About To Rock (Same as above)

Don't flame me for picking Guns n Roses

I was looking for Whiplash albums on Amazon but nothing prevailed, the only way I knew of them was because their drummer TJ Scaglione(sp.) replaced Dave Lombardo for a short while in '86.
Holy Terror, I'll keep an eye out :thumb:
40+ albums though, must be costing you(your folks) a bomb. I don't think I've bought that many in 6 months.

Oh and.........

Top 5 Thrash albums
Sepultura- Arise
Kreator- Extreme Aggression
Slayer- Reign In Blood
Slayer- Hell Awaits
Megadeth- Rust in Peace

There really is just too many good thrash albums to pick just 5, but i like to keep it varied. Some tough choices made though, Beneath the Remains or Arise? Megadeth or Anthrax? Whether to include any Metallica?

Anyway, favourite non thrash albums,

Machine Head- Burn My Eyes
Pantera- VDOP
Chimaira- The Impossibilty of Reason
Iron Maiden- Powerslave
Black Sabbath- Master of Reality

metal-militia 12-08-2004 12:05 PM

^^

Haha i wish i would get 40, I'll only get about 5-7, i've just given people a lot of choice. I know for a fact i'm getting Exodus - Another Lesson In Violence and a Kreator album (Either EA or PTK).

I went on the Virgin Megastores site and they had Whiplash albums, check there.

Yeah I'm not a new recruit but ****, I don't care :):

1: Slayer - Show no mercy (Still after all this time! :P)
2: Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
3: Exodus - Fabulous Disaster
4: Testament - The New Order
5: Coroner - Coroner

yeah all classics :)

For non-thrash I'd go with:

1: Rory Gallagher - Tattoo
2: Death - Scream Bloody Gore
3: Carcass - Necrotism..
4: ManOwaR - Kings of Metal
5: Cynic - Focus

Well that's is at the moment. But it kinda changes every day
