It really should be better than Monte Cazazza, I can't think of a single reason why it wouldn't be

but for some reason I find Cazazza more appealing. I'd have to sit down and give both a good listen before I actually decided which one was better.

Meatplow 09-24-2009 10:03 PM

I understand.

have you listened to Cabaret Voltaire yet?

Jaundice 09-24-2009 10:04 PM

hmm, don't think.

i've been meaning to get the mix-up or whatever it's called for a loooong time tho and should probably do so soon

Meatplow 09-24-2009 10:08 PM

Mix-Up and The Voice of America were great. I hear it's hard to go wrong with most of their material though, I should get some more of their stuff.

Jaundice 09-24-2009 10:10 PM

while we're still on the subject, isn't the "psychiatric review" at the beginning of Cazazza's disc the most amusing thing you've heard in a very long time?

Meatplow 09-24-2009 10:13 PM

It's pretty cool. I have an obsession recently with finding unusual audio samples from video mixtapes and obscure films, it has a certain psychotronic quality about it.

Jaundice 09-24-2009 10:16 PM

I really want to do some work with sound collage and vocal samples, i've tried it a couple of times but I think it's a very very difficult genre to write in.

Meatplow 09-24-2009 10:32 PM

google tracker 3 for a good source of weird **** to lift samples from

Jaundice 09-24-2009 10:33 PM

i will look into that some what immediately

i've had this obsession for a good while with doing something made from nothing but samples of 1960's pop songs, but I've yet to do much with that

Meatplow 09-24-2009 10:37 PM

it's mainly mixtapes and documentaries where I come across my favourite stuff

really old grindhouse theater pr0n can be good as well

Jaundice 09-24-2009 10:39 PM

they make CD's that are just an hour of sex sound effects and dirty talk

I remember I found one with a track called "Daddy's Little Girl" on it and for a little while there was nothing in life i wanted more than to make a ridiculous song sampling it

Ventriloquist 09-26-2009 03:39 PM

attn haz: which KMFDM album should I get after Nihil? I'm starting like these guys. There are too many albums so I don't want to download a bad one and kill the buzz.

Meatplow 09-26-2009 10:39 PM

Everything from around Naïve up until Nihil is their best period, after that they start to suck a bit in comparison with Xtort and Symbols which have their moments but aren't very good, they get very mediocre after this. Their early stuff isn't bad if you like old school synthpop and EBM type stuff.

Starting with Nihil would sort of suck because it only goes downhill from there. I worked my way up from Angst which I still love but the production is probably just not as sharp as it could be.

Nepenthe 09-28-2009 12:51 PM

anyone ever listened to gavin bryars the sinking of the titanic? its from like 1969. haunting ****.

Jaundice 09-28-2009 12:51 PM

Nepenthe 09-28-2009 12:54 PM

find it on your own leech!

Jaundice 09-28-2009 12:56 PM

never mind, i found a torrent for it

wink nudge

Aaron 09-28-2009 05:51 PM

I need suggestions for powerful sounding glitch work. I've been listening to a lot of understated minimalist stuff, and want something big sounding. Anyone?

Txus 09-28-2009 05:53 PM

Proem

FatalEnergy 09-29-2009 06:57 PM

Wanting to check out Venetian Snares. Are they worth checking out? Where should I start if so?

Meatplow 09-29-2009 07:05 PM

Winter In The Belly of a Snake was cool, some very alien sounds. I liked Detrimentalist as well, i've heard good things about most of his discography though.

Ravenholm 09-30-2009 11:20 PM

Random recommendation:

nice song: Bring on the Dying by Aslan Faction

Meatplow 09-30-2009 11:39 PM

sounds like the Evil's Toy I have heard, you might like them

i'm starting on the Squarepusher discography soon

Ravenholm 09-30-2009 11:44 PM

Nice, I'll definitely check them out.

And lol I just had to say, nice avatar.

"I can't believe it's not buttah!"

Meatplow 09-30-2009 11:54 PM

haha, love it

Ventriloquist 10-01-2009 02:24 PM

Finally listening to Foetus - Thaw. So far so good, even some power electronic vibes in there. Coming up next is KMFDM - Naive.

Meatplow 10-01-2009 11:22 PM

Yeah, Thaw is my favourite Foetus.

There are rumours of a new album coming out this year at some point.

Jaundice 10-02-2009 01:42 AM

Thaw is hot.

Don't Hide it Provide it ftw !

Meatplow 10-02-2009 02:03 AM

Asbestos is my favourite track, reminds me of Bernard Hermann's unnerving Psycho theme if it were a little more drawn out, psychedelic and ambient. Or maybe anything with screeching violins idk.

Jaundice 10-02-2009 03:37 AM

late 80's era Severed Heads brings us very catchy synth pop , not as groundbreaking as their industrial records tho

haz have you listened to Faust yet

Meatplow 10-02-2009 04:01 AM

nada

i'll get on that

Jaundice 10-02-2009 04:05 AM

it's very interesting krautrock

throbbing gristle claimed to be very inspired by them, and even tho they predated industrial records i'd venture to say that they are more true than any of the bands on that label

not trying to fellate faust but they are the perfect mix of prog, sunshine pop and industrial noise, with some pretty operatic elements

Meatplow 10-02-2009 04:09 AM

i'm interested

which album should I go for?

Jaundice 10-02-2009 04:12 AM

I think So Far is their best album, but I'd start with the self-titled.

It's three 10+ minute songs with all kinds of sound collage and experimentation, they started adding more conventional song structures later

Meatplow 10-02-2009 04:22 AM

righto, cheers

Nepenthe 10-02-2009 10:21 AM

ive got the album land of ukko and rauni by faust and i quite like it. its from like 2000 though so i guess ive never heard their old stuff.

Jaundice 10-02-2009 11:46 AM

I haven't listened to any of their newer stuff, their first four albums are all classiks tho

Nepenthe 10-02-2009 12:23 PM

you should check out the one i mentioned, its good stuff

likewise ill eventually listen to their old material

Jaundice 10-02-2009 12:37 PM

I still need to get their third album, i've been putting it off forever

but then naturally i will look into their newer releases

Jaundice 10-03-2009 09:05 PM

thread needs more Pink and Yellow / Cripples Crossing Highways / Catfight on a Hotdog split
