Can some one Recommend me some wicked Thrash Metal? I mean WICKED Thrash Metal! Thanks. :)

Bartender 02-19-2005 06:52 PM

Well, what thrash metal to you already know?

Just so we don't make pointless recommendations.

Spoonman 02-19-2005 07:04 PM

To name a few

Dark Angel
Pantera
Mastadon(they are a little to high pitch and the drummer doesn't have a real metal style)
Gat-Rot
Dead Sun

I my friend has some good stuff I have heard but I dont know what it is.

any way just give me some intense, bassy stuff.

Mmm, intense bassy stuff, I'm up for that too.

Freezing Moon 02-19-2005 07:26 PM

I also want to get into more thrash.

I already listen to...
Testament
Slayer
Megadeth
Metallica
Sodom
Exodus
Overkill
Anthrax
Kreator
Possessed

Out of those I'm also looking for more Kreator, Overkill, and Sodom.
Of those I have...
Kreator - Extreme Aggression
Kreator - Terrible Certainty
Overkill - Horrorscope
Sodom - Agent Orange

MAthiAS 02-19-2005 08:05 PM

for Kreator, get Pleasure to Kill and Coma of Souls. And check out the new one, Enemy of God, but get the other two first. The people in the Titans of Thrash thread can help you out more than I though.

Pleasure to Kill will blow your mind man.
Check out Venom too...I'm assuming that you forgot to add Slayer to your list too.

Slayer was the second one, after Testament.

Bartender 02-19-2005 09:28 PM
Could anyone reccomend some proggressive death stuff?

Stuff like:
Martyr
Cynic
Atheist
Death (later stuff)
etc...

Thanks.
Alarum, an Australian death metal band, seem to want to be Cynic, so they should work. There's a link floating around somewhere, but I without the search function I don't know how easy it'll be to find.

Canvas Solaris are an American band, purely instrumental, but rather like progressive death metal instrumental than, say, Spastic Ink.

Sleep Terror are a band I only just found out about recently, and haven't had too much of a chance to listen to, but so far they sound great. (www.myspace.com/sleepterror)

Phlebotomized, another American band, who released an amazing album called Immense Intense Suspense, might also work for you, so check them out if you can.

12 inch pianist 02-20-2005 12:29 AM

I'm in to UFO, Captain Beyond, Cactus, Vanilla Fudge, Uriah Heep Hawkwind and Thin Lizzy, anything obscure I'm missing?

those arent really OBSCURE. more just lesser known. try out some frijid pink, ram jam, beck bogert and appice, blind faith, the minutemen, peter green's fleetwood mac, quicksilver messenger service, rare earth, robin trower, procol harum, rory gallagher, or wishbone ash.

good choice with the vanilla fudge though.

keep me hanging on :thumb:

Stevie 02-20-2005 10:14 AM

Ah..

I'm looking for a classical song that would be good to cover in a metal way, such as Mars Bringer of War, or something. Anyone know anything worth looking into?

munky_magik 02-20-2005 10:16 AM

Try some John Williams stuff, I.e Jurassic park , star wars, Jaws, Indiana Jones etc...

Stevie 02-20-2005 10:21 AM

Thank youz!

Allright, thanks. I have heard a few songs off of the new one, and I like it, so I'll be sure to get the other two.

MAthiAS 02-20-2005 11:30 PM

not just recommending whatever music you like!

Nate22 02-21-2005 12:16 PM

I'm looking for some good instrumentals by metal bands. I've already heard all Metallica instrumentals, so anything other than those would be good.

munky_magik 02-21-2005 12:22 PM

Instrumentals:
Megadeth - Into the lungs of hell
Dream Theater - Stream of conciousness, The Dance of eternity, Erotomania
Nine Inch Nails - La Mer
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo 12/24
Marty Fridman - Forbidden city
Some Yngwie Malmsteen stuff
I'm looking for some good instrumentals by metal bands. I've already heard all Metallica instrumentals, so anything other than those would be good.
Death - Voice of The Soul
In Flames - The Jester Dance
In Flames - Pallar Anders Vista
In Flames - Man Made God
In Flames - Acoustic Medley
In Flames - Timeless
Arcturus - Ad Astra
At The Gates - And the World Returned
Dream Theater - Erotomania
Dream Theater - overture 1928
Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity
Dream Theater - Stream Of Consciousness
Dream Theater - YTSE Jam
Graveworm - Threnody
Shadows Fall - Casting Shade
Shadows Fall - Prelude to Disaster
Shadows Fall - Lead Me Home

There is some in there that are completely acoustic, but hey they are done by metal bands and they are good.

I was answering a request from the guy above me?

MAthiAS 02-21-2005 12:46 PM
I'm looking for some good instrumentals by metal bands. I've already heard all Metallica instrumentals, so anything other than those would be good.
Arch Enemy - Hydra
Arch Enemy - Snow Bound
In Flames - Wayfaerer
Iron Maiden - Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)

the other guys covered it pretty well.

So Burning Bridges > Black Earth?

Dancin' Man 02-21-2005 12:53 PM

I'm looking for some extreme symphonic metal in the vein of Emperor - Prometheus. I like that black metal sound but with tons of melody and occasional clean vocals. I hear Dimmu Borgir is a bit like that.

BoboTheRagingHobo 02-21-2005 01:03 PM
I'm looking for some extreme symphonic metal in the vein of Emperor - Prometheus. I like that black metal sound but with tons of melody and occasional clean vocals. I hear Dimmu Borgir is a bit like that.
New stuff is like that, Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon is like that.

Tvangeste doesn't have clean vocals like Emperor and Dimmu, but they are a great symphonic black metal band that gets no credit.

Bal Sagoth is more of an extreme form of symphonic epic metal, check them out.

Haggard is a very good band to check out if you want mideval type of sounding symphonic type of sound. They have alot of slower soft parts, but they have quite a bit metal kicking parts as well.

Dancin' Man 02-21-2005 01:04 PM

I've heard Bal Sagoth but I will definitely be looking for Tvangeste. I've got some older Dimmu Borgir but am now inspired to check out the newer stuff.

I have all Dimmu Borgir albums and one Tvangeste album if you want to get them from me on AIM or get samples or something.

Sweating Bullets... I don't think there's any rhythm part to the solos thats too interesting at least.

As far as bands, its tough to think of one. If I do I'll post it.
