Vote Me check out Citizen Fish and Culture Shock. They have Dick from Subhumans but they're reggae/ska bands. Both are awesome.

SantaDuJuan 07-24-2006 11:45 AM

If I was looking for Screamo what would I check out?
Else than Heroin.

Flagjacket 07-24-2006 02:31 PM

Funeral Diner. I Hate Myself, not too screamo but they rule.

I reccomended Small Arms Dealer to everyone.

Saetia, Hot Cross, Circle Takes The Square, City of Caterpillar (highly recommended).

SantaDuJuan 07-24-2006 03:50 PM

Okay okay!
Diner and Hate I know, but arn't Circle Square Emocore(or whatever the hardcore kids call it)?

Anxious 07-24-2006 04:25 PM

Get the death to false screamo comp.

SantaDuJuan 07-24-2006 05:54 PM

City of Caterpiller is awesome.

Screamo isn't a genre, it's all just emo. But if you want the chaotic stuff, similar to Funeral Diner then definitely go for Ampere, Gospel, The Kodan Armada, I Would Set Myself on Fire For You, In Tongues, and Cowboys Became Folk Heroes

Jessizzle 07-25-2006 09:07 AM

Dont forget Notorious S.K.A for ska label ;)

i want bands along the lines of the Crack Rock Steady Seven bands,
any suggestions?

Axe Slingin' Mutha Reppin 07-25-2006 01:31 PM

Can anyone recommend some good bands with spanish vocals? All I know of is Union 13, Los Crudos, that one casualties cd, sektacore, and that's pretty much it.

Oh yeah and, uh.. does anyone know why I can't make a new thread? I'm guessing I need a certain amount of posts or something but I don't know.

Flagjacket 08-05-2006 09:46 PM

Hahaha! En Del Linea Frente! Hahahhahaha

Anyway, try out Tropiezo. You can't make a enw thread until 24 hours, but event hen, don't make threads asking for bands cause this is the thread you ask in or else we set you on fire, got it?

obese_breasts 08-13-2006 02:27 AM

To Iron and Wine fans, or fans of any folky indie stuff, I recommend Adam Arcuragi and his self titled record.

I have it on slsk

asdf 08-13-2006 02:32 AM

To anyone who's into crazy ska/jazz type mixtures (say frank zappa meets blue meanies meets the residents) and doesn't mind stuff in other languages, Please, for the love of all that is awesome, check out some Uz Jsme Doma. They are a fantastic Czech band, that I know many of you would like. I've got lots on soulseek if you're interested.

Sin Dios, Desobediencia Civil, Los Muertos De Cristo, Los Skarnales, Crimines De Guerra. All I can think of at the moment. I asked J the same question not that long ago.

Liebensaft 08-20-2006 02:33 PM

Alright. I'm looking for bands that sound very similar to Iron and Wine. They don't necessarily have to be as good or cool, but I want something with a very similar sound. Just a nice mellow acoustic with some background instruments, and a very soft, soothing voice.

Suggestions?

obese_breasts 08-20-2006 02:38 PM

M. Ward is good, Adam Arcuragi, Nick Drake, and, if you don't have it, I HIGHLY recommend you get "In the Reins" the Iron and Wine and Calexico collaboration.

NIck Drake's Pink Moon is probably the closest you will get to the Iron and Wine sound.

Liebensaft 08-20-2006 02:48 PM

I have "In the Reins." It's great.

Thanks you very much. I figured if anyone, you would know.

Rise Me Up 08-20-2006 03:06 PM

Everyone who likes the Defiance, Ohio, Hi Ho, Six Shooter!, On The Strings Of style of punky-folk music (with a chilled-out edge too) should check out the album A Hook For Every Fish in the Sea by the Bookends.

I'll be downloading that from you as soon as I can. My internet has been acting really weird lately, though, so I'll have to do it later.
