paul has a big british accent when he says 'as in heaven as in hell'
Yea, The Clash have huge accents. And I thought it was pretty awesome in Westway when they show about 30 seconds of a performance of the Guns of Brixton and Joe is playing the bass.

guns_of_brixton 02-28-2005 08:22 PM
what about th essential clash? they have it at best buy
Essential Clash is good too.

guns_of_brixton 02-28-2005 08:24 PM
i could watch the part where joe relate the riot and the fat women screaming at least 50 times in a row.
"Ahh! They're going to light the car! Don't light the car on fire!" absolutely hilarious!

TheNowhereman42 02-28-2005 08:25 PM

still not as funny as the hellcat video

yep!!

joe's accent is not that bad.depends on the song...or maybe i just get use to his voice.

guns_of_brixton 02-28-2005 08:34 PM

True, you can't hear his accent as much when he sings.

guns_of_brixton 02-28-2005 08:44 PM

Andy, you should do a band profile on the Mescaleros.

Coma_Girl 02-28-2005 08:44 PM

"I remember being sick on buddy holly's grave" -Topper
"Loooord! They're gonna set the car on fire!" -Joe doing the fat women
"...a bit of robbing" -Paul doing a cute face
"i looked around the table and every face was black.that's when i started thinking 'well it's not really my story' but it was in a way cause it was my background" -Paul

Coma_Girl 02-28-2005 08:46 PM

"at micks nans flat, mick was showing me a G chord that changed to an A chord, but after hours of complete fustration on are parts we decided to pick up a bass cos it was easier and had 4 strings"-paul

my favorite live part is when you saw them play complete control and the crowd sing C-O-N COOONTROOOL.and everybody seems to have a lot of fun and the crowd sing along.
or when you see joe do this strange guitar move when he sings "i dont trust you..so why should ya trust me HUUUUUH?all over town the news spread fast..."

CombatRock 03-01-2005 03:24 PM

haha yea , i know what part your talking about when throws his guitar across his body and does a cool face...classy

guns_of_brixton 03-01-2005 05:32 PM
yeap thats my fav part. of the whole movie..and the part were it shows a clip of them playing "whats my name"
During "Whats my Name," doesn't Joe turn to the camera near the end of the clip and shout "fuck off!." Or was that another song?

guns_of_brixton 03-01-2005 05:36 PM

"I didn't want the role of being Entwhistle or Bill Wyman, stuck in the background. That's too depressing and if that was what I'd been offered with The Clash I would've turned it down. Maybe that's the nature of the job, or has been in the past; the bass player as the one that held the fort, so to speak, along with the drummer, letting every body else go lunatic. But y'know- why can't we all be lunatics?"- Paul

That was in a bass mag I bought that had the 50 greatest punk bass lines in it. London Calling got 3rd. That guy was a hack though, he didn't know anything about Punk.

WorryRocker921 03-01-2005 05:57 PM

ooo I love playing London Calling on bass. It's a great song all around.

SlappedByTheClash 03-01-2005 05:58 PM

It's so easy and catchy too, I could play it for hours.

guns_of_brixton 03-01-2005 06:00 PM

Yea, I think some Rancid song got number 1. And he was an idiot because

the Guns of Brixton> Magnificent 7> Police and Theives> London Calling> every other Punk song.
