Why not? The Beatles made every song great. Without Dirk the band is nothing.
One man does not make a band great. Have you even listened to the new album?

Modestbob 07-16-2005 08:23 PM

I owned the new cd Crow Left Of The Murder (gave it away), and i didnt like any of it. I listened to it a few times through and just couldnt get into it. Boyd's voice just seems to get more annoying and his lyrics seems a little more whiney. Dont get me wrong I was a huge Incubus fan I own every album but the new cd. I dont like the direction the band is going, they have strayed from the funkish/metal/ whatever they use to be. I really like Morning View but from that album you could tell they where going in a different direction. More Power to them but if Incubus keeps going in the direction it is i wont even bother to listen to anything they release in the future.

Can you imagine Iron Maiden without Steve Harris? I think not.
Can you imagine Iron Maiden without Steve Harris? I think not.
Hey, that's a different band.

I don't really like ACLOTM very much either, only due to the guitar tones and drum sounds and stuff like that. I think the songs sound great live, but I don't like how Brendan O'Brien make them sound and I think they should have spent a bit more time with the songs.

Idiot Martyr 07-16-2005 08:47 PM

Well to each his own I guess. I love it all though.

Lunch 07-16-2005 09:31 PM
Not every song can be a Priceless or a Sick Sad Little World though.
It was so bland and generic to me though, there was nothing special about it at all or anything that made me want to listen to it again.
can anyone re-upload admiration and noucs please? the other link isn't working anymore
anyone???

CiminoUM5 07-18-2005 10:43 AM
they have strayed from the funkish/metal/ whatever they use to be.
God, I'm so f'in sick and tired of people acting like they suddenly went in a completely different direction with Crow.

They haven't been funk or metal since SCIENCE people. Period. They had exactly one truly funky song on Make Yourself (Battlestar) and Morning View (Are You In), that's it.

All I ask of people is to give Ben one more shot...wait and see what he offers on the next record. So far he hasn't been up to Dirk's level (though I thought Dirk was mediocre on Morning View anyway, aside from a couple songs), but he's a far superior musician and I imagine he's going to come out of his shell more and more. Hell, his basslines were the only thing I like about Make a Move.

clearvision 07-18-2005 11:17 AM

Someone upload all the new tracks please :)

You might be able to get them on the internet somewhere seeing as how the Stealth soundtrack was released July 14.

Ben is a much better musician, I'm sure if people give him a chance he can show that.

Mr Herb 07-24-2005 07:24 PM

They were better off with Dirk but Ben still is pretty good

I Am a Hat 07-24-2005 07:40 PM

Holy shit Ben is an awesome singer. His falsetto reminds me so much of Jeff Buckley.

http://supergrub.com/main.html

If you click on the third blue square in the top left corner of the screen it goes to some mp3's and videos of supergrub. His vocals in "thirteen" completely surprised me.

Mr Herb 07-24-2005 07:41 PM

ye Ben pwns, everyone check out his album called 26

I Am a Hat 07-24-2005 07:44 PM

Do you have it? I want to get it along with some supergrub cd's and the division group because I love his songwriting.

Downloaded most of its tracks. Try and download:

Hoopdie
Breathe
Mr. spader, I pressume
Empty handed

Very good stuff

I Am a Hat 07-24-2005 07:54 PM

Yeah I've heard those. My favourite song I've heard by him is "4.2.3". Awesome chorus and the end of the song is pretty cool.

Mr Herb 07-24-2005 07:57 PM

WEll lets both buy the cd then!

guitariichick 07-24-2005 09:01 PM

Incubus is one of my favorite bands. They are a pretty unique band. i particularly like morning view and make yourself. the songs are completely awesome.

Always great to see a new face in here.

Anyways Ben is great. I love his singing voice too, but I've heard very little of his work so I can't say much about it.

I'll upload an assortment of around 5 supergrub/division group/solo songs later. I don't want to do too many because I don't like taking away from cd sales of small bands.

let me just say this i've seen incubus live with Dirk 5 times and live with Ben 1 time and i can say that Ben brings alot to the table. for some of you who dont know Ben was asked to be in TLC as an audition for incubus..once they decided he'd be the new bassist they went right to recording so he had short time to catch on...but from the time that came out to the time i saw them live to the time they released red rocks he has gotten used to them and is adapting well...and how can you get cooler then playin in the roots?? i dont know if your familiar with that band but if your in that band that means your a badass mutha fucka. and just watch the DvD he not only plays bass but drums and backing vocals..and when i saw them live he played guitar. all dirk did was walk a 5 string and step in front of the camera (ahem Morning View Sessions)...all in all i love dirk but i like incubus with Ben.

as for the funk of incubus...if they stayed with it and made just that alot of people would throw them away with all the other Nu-Metel trash that died out a few years ago. but see talent, thats right kids talent, makes you move forward not stay in one place. not tryna be a prick, just tellin it like it is.

Idiot Martyr 07-26-2005 09:15 AM

TLC being Time Lapse Consortium for anyone who doesn't know.

I thought this was like the official incubus thread.

Or at least that's what it has become.

emeraldPRS 07-26-2005 11:13 AM

the new bassist is fine, if you listen it sounds the same as it did before they swapped out. its not like incubus has hard basslines either, a trained monkey could play bass in 99.9% of rock/ metal bands.........there are exceptions though, red hot chili peppers, 311, tool, and incubus......those are real bassplayers

south_guitar 07-26-2005 11:22 AM
I think Incubus are great musicians, but a terrible band. They could do much better with their talent I think.....still pretty cool at times.....
Please follow up. What could they do with their talent to make them a good band?

I think Incubus are a great band as they are. They are one of the first bands that I started listening to when I got out of my pop/rap phase. I don't like their newer stuff nearly as much as the early Incubus. Fungus Amongus and Morning View are probably my two favorite albums from them, but I like every album. It's far too hard to pick a favorite song.

Idiot Martyr 07-26-2005 11:50 AM
I think Incubus are great musicians, but a terrible band. They could do much better with their talent I think.....still pretty cool at times.....
But if they were like shredding virtuosos or whatever they would alienate some of their audience. They do a great job connecting with tons of different people in a number of ways.

GnRguitarist 07-26-2005 12:36 PM

Hey. My bass player hates Incubus. A lot. Then a couple of days ago he played me a Primus CD and I said "This will really piss you off, but these guys sound kinda like Incubus does on Fungus Amongus (which is the only CD I listen to by them)". He was interested, and I let him hear Psychpsilopsiblin (or however you spell it) and he heard the bass solo and liked it. So I want to know, was Alex the bassist on that CD?

Idiot Martyr 07-26-2005 01:24 PM
.........So I want to know, was Alex the bassist on that CD?
Yes sir.
Hmmm, basically what I'm saying is they do really know their instruments and Brandon really can sing like a bastard at times but.....I'm not sure, they seem a bit bland for the amount of talent that they have, thats just me though....
When I think of what I'm really trying to say, I'll be back :D
Haha ok then :) . You have listened to A Crow Left Of The Murder right?

I Am a Hat 07-26-2005 01:30 PM

I hope they start releasing singles that actually show their skill. I'm getting kind of sick of people saying all of the guitar work is simple power chord stuff.

aaahhh52 07-26-2005 01:43 PM

Dont know if this was posted before or not, but august 1st incubus is performing on the jay leno show, im guessing they'll be playing make a move. Also i just finally was able to listen to all the movements of the odyssey from the halo soundtrack, one word, amazing. Great bass, great guitar work, great everything, even a few little tributes to pink floyd (again dont know if this has been discussed before). Anyway, Anti gravity live is awesome, thank you for uploading that, ive never heard it live.

* btw have they ever played aqueous transmission live?
