The influence was also reversed. I remember reading an article say ing the they were really impressed with The Beatles, when they came to America.
I saw a series of movies (the History of Rock and Roll) that had Brian Wilson saying that when the Beatles came to America the Beach Boys were starting to be eclipsed by them, so the Beach Boys had to do something to make themselves musically better than the Beatles(IMO they didn't quite succeed), and that inspired them to make Pet Sounds.
Better than John Lennon?
In my opinion, yes.
In my opinion, yes.
wait are we talking about paul or harrison?

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 04:09 PM

Harrison, when were we talking about Paul?

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 04:10 PM

We never mentioned Paul's solo career too much.

xxxRoCkJuNkiExxx 12-20-2004 04:45 PM

I've never heard anything from Paul's solo career...although my dad asked me if I'd want to go to a Paul McCartney concert if he comes around this area again(which I would love to go to)

*just had to add this in, Michigan City/Westville, IN was on the news!(that's where I live) 20-26 inches of snow baby! with more coming soon :D )*

B0nz0 12-20-2004 04:46 PM

yea ur right, it wasn't that spectacular. ringo, now there's a solo career... the conductor on thomas the tank engine. ah i love ringo!

Paul's most famous hit, although not a solo career was Band On The Run

Kingadamx 12-20-2004 04:49 PM

or the song "Live and Let Die", that was pretty famous.

Woodstock 12-20-2004 04:51 PM
or the song "Live and Let Die", that was pretty famous.
Yeah, but that was a soundtrack :p

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 05:02 PM

I still like Paul. He's an awesome guy. A little bit of a control freak (a la Waters) but not nearly as bad, and he got over it. Plus, he was just a cool guy all around.

Walrus Gumboot 12-20-2004 06:02 PM
I like MMT more then Abbey Road, but don't get me wrong Abbey Road is awesome. I think songs like I'm Only Sleeping, Blue Jay Way, Your Mother Should Know are what gives MMT.
Especially the bolded songs.
I'm only sleeping is on Revolver, and god there is something about that song thats just soo... well, it might be my favorite on revolver

Don't forget paul's "Silly Love Songs" I love the bass on that

If there is no mention of paul's solo career, then there is NONE of Ringo's
I think my parents saw him in '94 or so, and he may have come out with a new album quite recnetly
Poor old ringo haha

clown_phobia 12-20-2004 06:34 PM

Ringo had one solo album that I know of, it was just called "ringo"

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 06:37 PM

Ringo is more for show, I think. I wouldn't say his solo career is exactly mind blowing. It's just funny little music.

Little_wing 12-20-2004 06:40 PM

technically those songs are really from McCartney & Wings

Little_wing 12-20-2004 06:41 PM
Ringo is more for show, I think. I wouldn't say his solo career is exactly mind blowing. It's just funny little music.
like yellow submarine

BludgeonySteve 12-20-2004 06:41 PM

Ringo sang on Octopus's Garden. So we know he can sing. He's not much in the ways of songwriting though.

Halloween Jack 12-20-2004 06:42 PM

I really like The Beatles. I definitely like John the most then George. I don't like Paul is much, because his songs are just not as interesting to me. I think Lennon just had more of an edge to him. As for favorite albums, I'd say that they would be Abbey Road, Rubber Soul, and Revolver. Favorite songs would be Nowhere Man, Octopus's Garden, and Help!.

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 07:05 PM

Ringo didn't do all the singing on Octopus' Garden. He only had a 5 note range. So, he really can't even sing all that well. Or so I'm told.

Little_wing 12-20-2004 07:16 PM

that heavy british accent doesn't help much either

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 07:18 PM
that heavy british accent doesn't help much either
George's accent was pretty heavy.

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 07:21 PM

George was a super genius. Ringo wasn't so much.

Little_wing 12-20-2004 07:25 PM
George's accent was pretty heavy.
not nearly as heavy as Ringo's

Little_wing 12-20-2004 07:26 PM

I don't know why everybody says ringo is a great drummer, he is ok but not the best. all his beats are basically the same.

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 07:29 PM
I don't know why everybody says ringo is a great drummer, he is ok but not the best. all his beats are basically the same.
I'd like to know the "everybody" you are refering to.

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 07:30 PM

I think he was great for The Beatles. I honestly think having a Keith Moon or a John Bonham would have detracted from them.

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 07:31 PM

His beats were simple and lively, which fit their music.

Woodstock 12-20-2004 07:33 PM

Yeah, I couldn't imagine a Day In The Life with a 10 minute drum solo. I think Ringo fit the bill just fine.

Little_wing 12-20-2004 07:38 PM

I'm not talking about drum solos. I'm saying everyone rants about how great he is when it is just the samething over and over. You have to put a little more creativity into drumming. I do like his drumming but dont love it

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 07:39 PM

I don't hear any one rave over him. Send some links, im starting to not believe you.

I dont love it either, it's just that he did well with the skills he had.

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 07:39 PM

Meh. To each their own. He did show that he was a very talented drummer on some recordings. At least, I think he did. But I don't drum, so I could be completely off base. But he got not so good in the later years, according to the Anthology book. I love Harrison's lead playing. The guitar solo on Something is just unbelievably good.

Woodstock 12-20-2004 07:43 PM

Yeah, that is a great guitar solo, and Paul's bass playing on that song was fantastic also. George got into a fight with him about it though. He said Paul was overdoing it.

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 07:44 PM

Really? Didn't know that. Well, it was George's song, its up to him how it goes.

Woodstock 12-20-2004 07:49 PM
Really? Didn't know that. Well, it was George's song, its up to him how it goes.
I agree, but that's how they kinda broke up.

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 07:57 PM

Hmm... true. What're you gonna do. It's hard to be a genius in a group of other genius', because all of you have such great ideas. I wish I was a genius like that... :upset:

DeusExMachina 12-20-2004 08:04 PM

Ha. I should look it up...
Arg. Its geniuses. ****.

gmoneyguy 12-20-2004 08:33 PM

You haven't Read the Let It Be...Naked booklet have you.
