i gotta try that DSOTM and oz thing
first i gotta get the movie.... but i think that would be pretty cool to do :) *disguised bump* |
DSOTM works somewhat. It isn't mind blowing, and you have to make a few connections, but it is somewhat interesting. :)
meh...the Dark Side/Wizard Of Oz thing is horribly overrated, although it's quite funny in moments. On the other hand though, I walked home from school yesterday when it was already dark, and I decided to put Disc 2 of The Wall on, just to see what it was like. If you've never done that before, I can really reccommend doing it, in one way, as you really get a flavour of what the album's about, and the feelings of paranoia and isolation that so much of the music conveys. On the other hand though, get ready for some seriously bad emotions if you try doing it. At the start of "Is There Anybody Out There?", I nearly jumped out of my skin.
I've listened to it at night, "Is There Anybody Out There" terrified me. |
Yeah, they apparently are almost as good as the real thing. Almost.
*wishes Pink Floyd would tour to his tiny little town*
I would say that the aussie floyd sounds more like Pink Floyd (on record) than actaull Pink Floyd. Download some Gilmour videos from the 80s or even check out live LIP, they don't strive to recreate the sounds from the albums exact. But I saw the aussie floyd almost a year ago and they sound EXACTLY like Pink Floyd (on record). |
Yeah, Aussie floyd sound exactly like the records, for sure. But I'd rather see the real band do something creative with what they wrote than see a cover band do the records. The Aussie show is still great, though.

I listened to The Wall disc 2 in my room late at night. Freaked me out something chronic. |
The Best Band Of All Time!!! I personaly like the Delicate Sound of Thunder verion of Comfortable Numb because the use power chords. I t gives is a better rock sound. My favorite song is Dogs, because of the depressing solos. I also like Good-Bye Blue Sky, Echoes, Comfortable Numb, Time, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. I think that Is There Anybody Out There is the eeriest song the have. I Have every album on cd. I also have most of the DVD's and Videos.
|
yeah the wall is a pretty great cd
but it sucks because the guy i got the cd from, his cds were scratched, so both of the cds skip like every 4 seconds :upset: .... but its still a great cd :D |

Although no longer my favorite band (Black Sabbath took them down to 2nd) they are still the best band out there to me. My favorite song from Pink Floyd has to be Comfortably Numb, and One of These Days being a close second. My dad saw them on the Delicate Sounds . . . and P.U.L.S.E. tours, and he said it was his favorite out of the hundred (literally) he's been to. By the way maybe you Floyd freaks will be able to tell me if there is a Delicate Sounds... or Pulse Dvd out there. I must see atleast one of the legendary concerts since more than likely(sp?) i won't be able to see them live. then again i have seen the original Black Sabbath, and I'm barely turning 17 . . .

Yes, PULSE has a DVD, and I'm pretty sure Delicate Sounds of Thunder does as well. Although you seem to like their more rock'n'rolly-y music, try picking up the David Gilmour DVD from 2002. It's pretty mellow and acoustic for the most part, but it has two amazing versions of Comfortably Numb.
Hehehe... "rock'n'roll-y" I crack myself up. |
I want to get PULSE. But i've very poor so I might not get it for a while.
|
I got Delicate Sound of Thunder for $6:)
|
Interesting, I read in an article that Gilmour played bass many times for Roger during recording, including the fretless on Hey You...

Well you're half right about me. I do like the last two Pink FLoyd albums (a momentary lapse of reason, division bell), but not as much as Wish You Were Here or Animals. My dad and I have been looking for those DVD's for years now (went to Sam Goody's, Best Buy, Metal Gear, etc.) and the only DVD we found was the Wall, Live at Pompei (sp?), and now Darkside of The Moon. Thanks though I must search harder now . . . |
why didn't the quote thing come out right? Anyway I'm way too paranoid to trust buying them over the net.

I'm getting the Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett DVD for x-mas hopefully.
Has anyone ever did Echoes with 2001 A Space Odessey (sp?) ? It's awesome. If you haven't done it, and are a fan of the Wizard of Oz with DSOTM, you'll definitly like this one way more. Simply start playing Echoes when the last part of 2001 comes on. I believe it's called "Jupiter and Beyond". The story behind Echoes is Stanley Kubrick asked Pink Floyd to write a song for this part of the movie, to kind of go along with the last scene. (trippiest scene of all-time) Dave wanted to, Roger didn't, so it didn't happen. After seeing the movie and it's success, Roger regreted not writing a song. They wrote a song, not insync with the last scene (I don't think, but it goes along with it so perfectly that it's creepy). Thus, Echoes. :thumb: |
Just say the Aussie PF, they were GREAT!!
Anyways, for those PF-guitar guys out there, the one at the end of 'Pigs (Three Different Ones)' is really good, I suggest you check it out. :thumb: |
Do you mean the Australian Pink Floyd?
It's actually a different Floyd cover band. They've came here to play at local bars a few times. I don't think they've played as big as venues as the Australian Floyd. |
Should I buy that David Gilmour Acoustic Concert DVD?
Yes. Yes. Yes! YES! YEEESSSS!!!!! It's really really good. |

I've only seen short bits of it besides the video of ABItW 2, but it looks like it will freak me out. |
I've just discovered the awesomeness that is Not Now John. Amazing song-I'd never really given The Final Cut a fair chance before. I am also listening to Obscured by Clouds more now-very good album.
