Haha, I'm an idiot. The band is actually called Me And Him Call It Us, not Me And You Call It Us. Anyway, their CD is coming out this month and I found another mp3.

Link doesn't work. I don't know why, I just had to copy-paste it and fix it, maybe something with MX.

They sound a lot like The Locust. And maybe some Ed Gein too.

cbmartinez 01-12-2005 12:43 PM

Yeah, the period gets moved or something when you click it. Is it good? I'm in my school library and I get download mp3s. :upset:

Happymeal 01-12-2005 06:48 PM

DFelon(or a mod), could you edit the list of bands in the first page? We've discussed a lot of other bands along the way, it's too bad if they'd just float away in obscurity.

edit: The Fall of Troy are releasing new stuff soon, hopefully this year.w00t

cbmartinez 01-12-2005 06:54 PM

Yeah, I'll make a list of all the bands we've discussed.

chips88 01-12-2005 06:58 PM

Woa, I think that Planes Mistaken for Stars is coming to Houston. Or at least that's what I've been told.

Okay, that's a very lose list. I'm asking Buddy, Dfelon, etc., to go through that list and decided which ones are real emo/screamo, as I am still a novice and classifying emo.

Bartender 01-12-2005 07:54 PM

I'll refrain from editing bands in until you've decided a bit more, then.

cbmartinez 01-12-2005 08:02 PM

Thank, B man.

Happymeal 01-12-2005 09:17 PM
The Fall of Troy definitely isn't emo man. The vocals give it away. Musically they are pretty similar to newer Hot Cross. But they are clearly not emo.
I know, but there's no place else I can post that where anyone gives a shit about that anyway.

BridgeToSolace 01-12-2005 09:31 PM

A couple more bands for the list: (I'm a n00b at this, if these are wrong...oops)

The Murder Of Rosa Luxenburg:
What's what now? I'm confused.
Haha, have you heard "The Death of an Aspiring Icon" by The Khayembii Communique?

BuddyBigsby 01-13-2005 12:47 AM
torn pictures too can just say some crap and we'll see what we'll do with that.
hahahahahaha

I'll go through the list and lend my two cents in my next post.

BuddyBigsby 01-13-2005 12:53 AM

Well emo and screamo are the same thing to me, just from different time periods, but here we go.

I, Robot = No heard
The Red Scare = No heard
Envy = Lots of stuff going on... they have screamo but they also have like post-hardcore and even some post-rock
Bleeding Kansas = Metalcore inspired emo
Welcome To The Plague Year = Screamo
Off Minor = Emo/Screamo is fine
Van Johnson = screamo
The Kodan Armada = screamo
Majority Rule = Screamo with a strong hardcore presence
Racebannon = No heard
Transistor, Transistor = Heard, but don't really remember
The Assistant = Screamo
This Ship Will Sink = No heard (I'm on a roll here)
Takaru = Heard, don't remember
In/Humanity = Heard, don't remember
Crestfallen = More artsy, grindy type stuff. Little screamo. Enough for the list I guess.
Get Fucked = More artsy rock from what I remember
Yaphet Kotto = Emo/screamo
Sakita Sarra = no heard
Malady = Emo-tinged Indie Rock
I Would Set Myself On Fire For You = screamo
Coulier = no heard
Blame Game = no heard

Haven't heard any of the "emo" bands. Man, does Newbmartinez have me beat on this stuff?

Also! We should add for screamo: Portrait, Neil Perry, The Khayembii Communique, Cobra Kai, Mara'akate, Orchid, You and I, The Now, Stop It!, Usurp Synapse, Jerome's Dream, Joshua Fit for Battle, Hassan I Sabbah, Love Lost But Not Forgotten, Funeral Diner, and mayyybeee Amanda Woodward.

tornpictures 01-13-2005 12:25 PM

Screamo:
I, Robot
*The Red Scare
-Envy (should be emo or metalcore or something) -> Siqqqqq
*Bleeding Kansas
*Welcome To The Plague Year
*Off Minor
Van Johnson
The Kodan Armada
Majority Rule
Racebannon
Transistor, Transistor -> Hardcore punk
The Assistant
This Ship Will Sink
-Takaru (there's lots of grind, but also weird off kilter angular stuff to counterbalance that. the screaming ain't much like emo/screamo)
In/Humanity
-Crestfallen (their old stuff is random metalcore, and their new stuff is thras/grind. they're not emo at all)
Get ****ed
Yaphet Kotto
Sakita Sarra
Malady
I Would Set Myself On Fire For You
Coulier
Blame Game

Emo:
The Fiction -> San Diego-influenced screamo.
Wolves -> Arty post-punk post-hardcore screamo madness
Wallside
The Hal Al Shehad

SubtleDagger 01-13-2005 12:29 PM

The Hal Al Shehad is frigging indie.

tornpictures 01-13-2005 01:24 PM

Whatever dude.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 04:36 PM

Alright thanks guys. Check the links I posted for mp3s of those bands and determine the rest.
Also! Those are already on the list. Check the first page. (Never thought I'd be saying that to you :p)

BuddyBigsby 01-13-2005 08:13 PM

Were they just added or something?

First page? I look to the future, kid. Bigsby doesn't dwell on the past.

BuddyBigsby 01-13-2005 08:16 PM

Hassan I Sabbah isn't on there you lying sack of shit. I don't recall seeing The Now or Stop It! either and I'm sure there are a few others.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:31 PM

Well most of them are! And D nizzle hasn't edited since 9-16-04 so I he did not just add them.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:34 PM
The Hal Al Shehad is frigging indie.
I think the start-stop guitar and shouted vocals give it an emo feel. Let the emo masters decide it.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:38 PM

I'm listening to this band Gods & Queens who are Level-Plane. They seem to have some emo influence, not enough to put them in the genre though. Check 'em out:

http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/1636/

You can hear songs from The Fiction and Wolves there, also.

BridgeToSolace 01-13-2005 08:46 PM

Hey, Chris, add Bright Blue Calm to the list too, if it's aproved, kthnx.

http://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=D6368E45A319701C1DAC3D3E5EFF69F6

They might not have the chaotic-ness, though.

And those six bands I posted on the last page that got completely ignored :p

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:49 PM

Sorry about that, babe. I'll listen to them now.

BridgeToSolace 01-13-2005 08:49 PM

:-*

I got all the albums too, if you want 'em later. Hit me up on AIM, if you ever decide to use it again.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:51 PM

Like you said, I don't know if Bright Blue Calm is chaotic enough. I'm going to leave them off for now, but Buddy/Dfelon/Shane etc. should definitely give them a listen.

BridgeToSolace 01-13-2005 08:56 PM
Like you said, I don't know if Bright Blue Calm is chaotic enough. I'm going to leave them off for now, but Buddy/Dfelon/Shane etc. should definitely give them a listen.
The whole song remindes me of the "Gravity doesn't grant me..." part in "Crowquill", which is why it made me think of was screamo/emo.

I just thought of another one, Tunes For Bearts To Dance To. I'm determined to get something right today.

http://s14.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=D42219C796BF36BF666893B15071D4B1

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:57 PM

Whoa, I'm really digging the Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg. They sound like The Blood Brothers. I'm gonna' go ahead and put them on the list cause they've got the emotion and the chaos and the slowness at the same time.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 08:58 PM
The whole song remindes me of the "Gravity doesn't grant me..." part in "Crowquill", which is why it made me think of was screamo/emo.
Yeah, Id have to hear more stuff also before putting them in.

cbmartinez 01-13-2005 09:02 PM

The rest of the links are coming up as stale links for some reason.

BuddyBigsby 01-13-2005 09:04 PM
I'm listening to this band Gods & Queens who are Level-Plane.
That's two of the dudes from Lickgoldensky.

BridgeToSolace 01-13-2005 09:14 PM
The rest of the links are coming up as stale links for some reason.
The links are supposed to work for a week...and they're working fine for me. :amaze:

If the Tunes For Bears To Dance To works (posted in an edit), then I guess they only work for 24 hours. That sucks hxc.

http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/207/

The two from the album "Ere' january be unwintered" are by An Embrace Of Angels. That's all I got for now, finding links is hard, and apparently making them on your own doesn't work well.
Originally posted by DFelon204409 The Elliott songs I've heard definitely aren't emo.
They aren't?
Have you heard the songs from there album U.S. Songs?
That album is mentioned in the 'best emo records out there'-section of www.fourfa.com so I guessed they where definitely emo, but correct me if I'm wrong...

tornpictures 01-14-2005 07:40 AM
Like you said, I don't know if Bright Blue Calm is chaotic enough.
Hahaha.

Tool.

cbmartinez 01-14-2005 04:31 PM

No one can win with you, torn.

chips88 01-15-2005 11:13 AM

Indeed. Do you guys think that along with this list you could post some links to them, if any exist? Or even to where you can buy their music, if you know where you can?
