I don't really even like the Datsuns, but live in a sweaty club they were great.
I just ordered 'Oceanic' by Isis at the HMV down the road. I was going to get a godspeed LP too but I couldn't decide between the first and '...skinny fists...'. Any Ideas? I already have Yanqui UXO. |
i had the same question recently. I have been advised that they are equally good, but buying "F#A#" first is the way, as it is their first.

Nick Cave - The Boatman's Call
Are 90% of the songs really about PJ Harvey? The album is great nonetheless. I'm also digging my Joni Mitchell collection...I listened to Hejira, Court & Spark, Blue and Ladies Of The Canyon in a row today. Amazing lyrics. |
Got my Muse tickets this morning. It'll be my first real show. Anyone got any tips?

If you want to get to the front get there super early, but be prepared to have a large horizontal bruise across your chest from the barrier. I think it's more fun to stand slightly further back and jump around. Don't be afraid to use your elbows to get people out of your way, it's all kosher. Go for a crap before the gig, have something to do during the support acts. Practice standing up for prolonged periods to get your back used to it. OK :thumb: |

Just enjoy yourself, don't get violent and if someone falls down help 'em up. |

I'd advise you to brace yourself, because Muse will rock your face off. You'll love it. Just have a good time and don't be stupid, and the rock will flow like wine. |
I just downloaded some Big Black songs. I'm not a big Alt/Indie guy. I'm just trying to get into it. :p

Tomahawk and Tangy had some really good tips. Apart from that, don't be too concerned about getting right to the front, unless you really feel you have to. Wear comfortable shoes, and pants that wont fall down :p . If you are going with friends, organize a place to meet at the end and don't worry about losing them in the crowd during the concert. Support the support bands, especially if they are unknown and aren't getting too much of a positive response from the people that don't give a crap about them. Have lots of fun man!!! |
After hearing the new Jeff Buckley song "Forget Her" and seeing the clip I am beginning a massive Jeff binge. I'm listening to Grace at the moment. The whole next week shall hereby be dedicated to Jeff Buckley.
|
That's like the exact same thing posted when I heard it. Cool as.
|
"Forget Her" is pretty good, especially for an unreleased track.
And right now I am loving the Pogues. Yay for Ireland! |
The Walkmen are very good. especially Bows + Arrows, it is a top release.
|
I picked up Brand New's first album Your Favorite Weapon. Fantastic stuff. I highly suggest:
The No Seatbelt Song Seventy Times Seven Failure By Design Jude Law And The Semester Abroad Soco Amaretto Lime Infact buy the album. |
^^^
I downloaded that cd last night and I really like it. Thanks for all the tips everyone. |
Orb, give Mercury Rev a try if you haven't heard them yet. I believe you'll enjoy them.
I heard Deserter Songs...which is pretty decent. Their new stuff, "All Is Dream" etc. is pretty disappointing. When Jonathan Donahue starts to sing...it usually makes me cringe. "The Tides Of The Moon" is a good song though. |

muse will get pretty rough right around the middle and throughout the entire crowd, just be prepared to stand your ground, just sorta let everything flow around you and keep your eyes on the stage... |
Can somone reccomend me some Gyroscope songs?
|
^^^^ You need to talk to Tapeworm about them. He should be able to help.
|
Daniel Johnston
and finally focusing on non live Elliot Smith songs, wonderful... |

I just downloaded that, and I'm listening to it now. I thought it would suck, but it's actually really good! The Presidents were the first band I liked, and it's pretty simple stuff, but it's really catchy. |
Ive been really digging on Radiohead: Com Lag, Fugazi: The Argument and Tool, Lateralus.
|
I like you
|
I have listened to Switchfoot an awful lot and I really like "Twenty Four", "Let That Be Enough" and "The Beautiful Letdown" and of course "Meant To Live" but since i've fallen asleep to them every night for the past 2 weeks, I'd really like my Orange Co. soundtrack back and my Alt. Nation burned CD back....both of which my dad totally stole from me. My Alt. Nation CD is AWESOME cause it has wicked a** songs on it. I just named it that after my Sirius station cause I couldnt think of any other names...:(

...Really? Ennio Morricone has been pleasing my ears. He's a genius. I've also been getting back into Elliot Smith after hearing Angeles while watching The Girl Next Door. He was really something wasn't he! |
Hot Snakes - Suicide Invoice has been declared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week

Hah, I had a feeling you would reply to that Bread. I love that song.
Hey Tang, was the movie good? |

Being a third-worlder sucks sometimes. I'll check 'em out thanks! Just curious.. What the heck happened to the Tapeworm(project)??? Haven't heard of them since "Vacant"(and that one was live,right?)..Speaking of live..I thought A Perfect Circle's cover of The Cure's "Love Song"(entitled "Diary Of A Madman", I'm sure most of you know about it) was great, it's a shame they didn't record it..I only had the live version:( |
I've fallen in love with Muse the past month, really enjoying their latest album Absolution. Also Keane, Snow Patrol, Razorlight are tickling my fancy. And a band called The Scruffs from Glasgow, they're unsigned but really popular. Their songs are some of the best I've heard from a new band.
|
That song is so good.
Oh Definately Br3ad!! That song rocks the world lol. :thumb: |
I've fallen in love with this band called The Honeymoon, after just one song. It's called Reconcile. They're a male/female duo, one from Iceland, and one from England.
By the way, still_ur_heart has the best avatar on the whole site. :thumb: |
^I have heard that song on the HMV playlist CD I got. I don't like it much though, it seems poser-ish :(
|
