That EITS is worse than I could ever imagine them being.
Oh, give me a break. It's not terrible, it's just generic for EITS. Wait for the album, then you can bash all you want if you deem it appropriate.

Kage 12-03-2006 03:29 PM

I damn well deem it appropriate to bash. That song is the worst drivel they've put out amongst a whole catalogue of drivel.

A band that is similar but much much better is Because of Ghosts.

EITS is coming to Houston in March, I will see that show and then decide if I like them. I have a feeling that seeing them live will definitely bump them up for me.
I listened to a song that was called something about a cow and milk.
Yeah, that's the only one I found without going into illegal searching and all (it's available on their myspace I think). I really like it though, especially the addition of upright bass is really cool. Makes me want to check out more by them. I actually just found more, check out the media section at: http://www.sj5.no/

It WILL bump them up for you. EITS's live show is top notch :thumb:

Kage 12-03-2006 04:03 PM

I'm looking forward to it. Tickets are only $10. =D

I've got a plethora of new post rock bands I've downloaded. Johnny Poindexter is impressing me right now.

bucket 12-04-2006 04:18 AM

lol johnny poindexter. I always assumed they were terrible because their album is available to download legally, for free, on some net label.

Is anyone here familiar with Halifax Pier? Red Sparowes bass/pedal steel player is in the band. But don't be fooled, the bands share no resemblance. HP is extremely acoustic/folky with vocals. According to last.fm... they are post-rock too... and last.fm never lies.

http://www.temporaryresidence.com/bands/halifaxpier.php

You can hear a song there. If people like it I can upload one of their albums. They have some really nice instrumental pieces as well.

Now orgasming over: Gregor Samsa- 55:12 (album)

Traversing 12-04-2006 11:01 AM

<--is really digging this Halifax Pier song

Txus 12-04-2006 11:02 AM

Wow, this Halifax Pier is really damn good.

bucket 12-04-2006 11:09 AM

It looks like I'll be uploading HP.

Really they are post-rock I guess. Their use of so many instruments playing intertwining melodies is pretty much what every post-rock band does... they just constantly use acoustic instruments, strings, and vocals.

I'll chuck both of their albums into one file and upload it today.

And Kage, listen to SKINFLICK DRESS REHEARSAL!!!!

Txus 12-04-2006 11:11 AM

Great man. Thanks a lot :)

Send it my way when It's done.

How can you hate Samuel Jackson Five? Easily Misunderstood is such a great album.

Txus 12-04-2006 11:15 AM

Samuel Jackson Five are really good, nowhere near the best Post Rock bands out there...but they are good in what they do.

Traversing 12-04-2006 11:32 AM

Hit me up with some HP as well

I'd say it will be out in a couple hours.

S/t album and Put on Your Gloves and Wave

EDIT:

Sent. S/t is the better album. Untitled and Strange News from Another Star are my favorite songs.

bwnstl 12-05-2006 02:48 AM

Is it just me or was that file corrupt?

Kage 12-05-2006 02:49 AM

Not just you. The file is no good.

Traversing 12-05-2006 02:49 AM

Not just you...I thought something was strange when it was only 4kb

bucket 12-05-2006 12:53 PM

wtf.

my bad guys I'll try this again

EDIT:

Sent again. Two links now.

LF96 12-05-2006 03:57 PM

Oh, man, this Halifax Pier album is great, and I haven't even finished listening to the whole album (the self-titled btw). Especially the first track is nothing short of awesome. Are these guys still active actually? I saw their last album was from somewhere in the early 2000s...

Eliminator 12-05-2006 04:16 PM

okay so i decided that EITS have one awesome song

Traversing 12-05-2006 04:26 PM

I've been listening to The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place today. I'm sorry, but there's no denying that that album is great. If that's the only great album they every put out, I'll still be a fan.

Eliminator 12-05-2006 04:26 PM

the only worthwile song is "Your Hand in Mine"

everything else is total snorlax prior to the mondo poke flute jam

Traversing 12-05-2006 04:33 PM

Huh...I was sure you were going to say First Breath After Coma

Neoteric 12-05-2006 04:35 PM

They are a great band but do get a bit samey after awhile.

Still really like them though :)

Kyle 12-05-2006 04:37 PM

I don't really get the EitS hatred.......they make music which sounds good.

Kage 12-05-2006 04:53 PM

Music which sounds good but then gets boring after a while of listening to it.

They served their purpose as a gateway into post rock but I feel like I've moved on without them.
