4 songs into it thus far....all the love in the world was amazing.....so was you know what you are.....still dislike hand that feeds the most....
Wait until you get to the title track....Gosh it sucks.

clearvision 04-27-2005 03:05 PM

Hmm there is a slight difference in the rythm as i stated before.

And FS is a mjor third below THTF, I looked at the intro for my first post. The riff is basically the same thign though...

Kage 04-27-2005 03:07 PM
It is the same riff, just a 4th lower with a couple of strums cut out...trent :(
If it's the same riff but the notes are all a fourth lower, then it's not really the same.

Mabelobe 04-27-2005 03:09 PM

Indeed With Teeth was pretty weak....joining THTFs as the albums low points....

Other than that the rest of the album was pretty amazing.....it does have alot of PHM in it, i also heard alot of The Fragile with the multitude of strait piano on the album....

Im not disappointed at all....and i had very high expectations.....its a new sound for them but i think it works well.....i just hope the new tool album is as good.....but i dont expect it to be....

When I heard it at the release party, I agree that it was really dam good and a new sound for them. I didn't hear the PHM so much, but maybe I was wrong (I think I was WAY to close to the subwoofer the whole time). I'll be able to discuss further in less than a week.

/Gets excited.

clearvision 04-27-2005 03:58 PM

Excuse me Kage...BUT...

If the intervals are the same, the riff is the same. It's like saying playing baa baa black sheep in C a different tune to playing it in G. Yes the tone is different due to the key change, but it's still the same thing. THTF is a 3rd above FS with about 2 strums cut out...

You're saying that each note is one third above? If so, then the notes are completely different...

EDIT: OH! I didn't see where you said if the intervals are the same then the riff is the same.

12Rounds 04-27-2005 07:24 PM
He really seemed to change his vocal style on this album....its far different from how he normally sounds.....ok maybe its not THAT much of a difference but im sure you guys can tell what im talking about....
Yeah it seems much better than previous records, maybe hes been working on it?

Orp's Capsule 04-28-2005 07:44 AM

ive downloaded this album in my favourite 128 quality. only heard two songs, the 1st single and the opening track - pretty good. ill lesten to the rest in a few days.

clearvision 04-28-2005 11:38 AM

 @ Kage

News just in - trent dresses in a woman suit live...

hehe

I wonder if by chance Jeordie wrote that riff in THTF's.....it would be a nice ****-you to manson now heh...given he has the actual musicality to notice the similarites...

ramoniac138 04-28-2005 05:13 PM

The albums great...I downloaded and burned it...great stuff. It sounds a lot different from The Fragile but its still great

misunderstood 04-28-2005 05:18 PM

I haven't heard the album yet. I know it's been leaked all over the place but I haven't given in. Besides "The Hand That Feeds", I've probably only heard one other song...and I liked it. May 3rd...just a couple more days! And less than a month before the big show...can't wait! Heh.

/goes and listens to "The Downward Spiral"

nrvn55 04-29-2005 02:19 PM

so i just picked up my copy of with teeth, and it is amazing. disc world releases the album early for any one who is interested. not sure if yours will release it but it's worth a shot. the package is a little dissapointing. no book, no nothing. none the less the music is absolutely stellar.

Six Foot Revolver 04-29-2005 02:20 PM

So I don't have any money so I cannot get it yet :upset:

- I highly doubt it.

Trent is NIN, and he has a live band.. pretty simple.

nrvn55 04-29-2005 04:17 PM

yea i really really don;t think jeordie wrote any thing on with teeth. the cd doesn;t have credits so i don;t know for sure.

DAMNIT!!!
My mom said that a local radio station was giving out NIN tickets for free, and all you had to do was be the correct caller, and know the "lead singer's" name...
And she is almost always the right caller (she has great luck), and this time was no different, but she didn't know his name :( :( :(

It sucks...

Man, about 4 more days until the big one... I can't wait.

- Ouch man. By some grace of god I managed to snag four tix to the 2nd Denver show before they sold out. I think the fact that they play a show on the 3rd here snagged people's attention more then the show on the 4th, which I suggested we try and get.

Magicaltroll 04-30-2005 06:12 PM

I know, i was pretty bummed out...
AHHH Tuesday needs to get here

AIC/EAZY-E 05-01-2005 12:24 AM

I listened to With Teeth in it's entirety today. And I have to say...i'm not impressed.Just nothing...really stood out. It's definitely more pop-orientated.But if I do compare it to Pretty Hate Machine,I'd say PHM owns it by a mile.Seriously, some one tell me that this rules over The Downwards Spiral and The Fragile.Even Broken wns it.Something just seems missing you know? The Hand That Feeds is pretty good,but..ahh.With Teeth just isn't up to the usual NIN standards.Has Reznor gone stale with sobriety? What is he thinking?!? 'With-ahhh...Teeth-ahhhh..'.That would be a good song if not for that...that thing!I feared this might happen. It's not all that bad,but I was just expecting so much more you know.It could grow on me, but im really sad and dissapointed.

AIC/EAZY-E 05-01-2005 12:53 AM

ehhh..it's only my opinion,it's not accountable for everyone elses towards the new album. You guys can think what you want to think. Please don't set your expectations too high please though, this coming from an avid NIN fan.

Kage 05-01-2005 12:56 AM

And coming from another avid NIN fan (who has only heard it from the release party): it was awesome.

Innertiac 05-01-2005 01:49 AM

i concur. the new record is really great.

its funny because people say "but it's not downward spiral" and trent says in countless interviews that alot of his alchoholism and such resulted from having to live up to himself with TDS, hence the drugged up Fragility tour. Now hes doing what he feels like, it seems. And another potential record within the next year and a half. possibly.

ieatalotoftacos 05-01-2005 02:47 AM
IEven Broken wns it.Something just seems missing you know? The Hand That Feeds is pretty good,but..ahh.
the fact that you said "The Hand that feeds" is pretty good shows what you know. That's probably the worst track on the album, and is ironically the single the media embraces. It's not as good as Pretty Hate Machine, but this album is still amazing. While the downward spiral was more memorable, this album has no filler, which the downward spiral had. It's very constant, and "you know what you are" is one of the most aggressive tracks they've ever recorded. If anything else, it's better than Broken, and it's better than pretty much anything else released this year, which is why I'm buying it.

AIC/EAZY-E 05-01-2005 03:08 AM

Ok tacos, you're a tr00 fan.
Just because it's a single doesn't mean it's the worst track on the album.
It definitely is one of the stand outs. I'm not going to despise it just because apparently the media embraces it though. It's an awesome song.Maybe this does strike some people as an amazing record, but I just don't think it lived up to the hype.

I enjoy every single NIN release so much more than this one; I can't just keep telling myself I like it for the fact that it's them.It could be a CD that grows on me. But still those kinds of records strike you on the first listen, and you realise more by listening to it again and again, influenced by that first spin in the cd player. All The Love In The World I have to listen to again, the same with Getting Smaller.I forgot to mention The Line Begins To Blur and Every Day is Exactly the Same, which I heard about a month ago,are also outstanding on the album.

There ARE great ideas on this album, but I just think Trent could've utilised his time so much more. And I can't get over his use of the chorus With-ah Teeth-ah. Lyrical dynamics, could be.Writers block definitely.Get the album. I have to listen to it one or two more times, my mind might change....or maybe i'm just ranting because one of my favourite bands has kind of dissapointed me. :upset:

nrvn55 05-01-2005 07:07 AM

you are nuts dude. you have to have some ocd if "with-ahh teeth-ahh" is causing yo uso much distress.none the less it is your opinion, but this album blew me away. i got it on friday and have not stopped listening to it since. you mean to tell me that "everyday is exactly the same" doesn;t stand out in your mind? the opening track "all the love in the world" is another great one, as well as the last 5 songs on the album most noteably "sun spots". i think the whole album is great and i felt he utilized th 6 years he took to make it. can;t wait till may 18th.

12Rounds 05-01-2005 05:55 PM

How did you hear Everyday is Exactly the Same a month ago? It leaked april 14th.

deadinholywood 05-01-2005 10:47 PM

ok ok so i bought my copy of with teeth yesterday (god i got a surprise when i went in there and it was on the shelves before the third) I hadnt downloaded any of the album and i turned off the radio when THTF came on because i didnt want to hear any of it before i bought it. At first listen i didnt really think that much of it, its ALOT less layered in my opinion to the previous albums and much simpler (gonna get flamed for that comment) but its really growing on me now. its quite a difficult album and there is nothing really that accessible on it except for THTF. Its much more rock orientated than the fragile but at the same time its gentler than TDS (as for reznor saying the album would be 11ish short sharp punches in the face it is simply unture)
At the moment i am loving right where it belongs (great great song) sunspots, every day is exactly the same and all the love in the world and im disliking the collector and only. Reznors vocals seem to be pretty good but i wish he would get over the 'cat in a hat' rhyming lyrics its much worse here than they have ever been on any of his previous albums.
The art work was a bit of a let down too, from what trent was saying on the website i was expecting something elaborate (like the Fantomas new cd  ) but its pretty standard... well youll see what i mean
Ill post more if i think of anything
