Corupt2057 04-20-2005 08:00 AM

ah doesn't matter I may not be aloud around here long enough to make the induction ceremony lol.. theres alot of arguing going on in the challenge 86 replies thread and it just happens to be agianst an old forum member that is an immature child, DFelon, and me

IOWNU200 04-20-2005 05:09 PM

okay, so we have our first battle of the bands tomorrow, and we're play against kids 3 years older than us (we're all 14 playing with 17 year olds), but we feel we really have shot because we wrote two new prety good songs and we practiced the hell out of it, does anyone have any good advice for swaying judges at a battle of the bands?

thirdeyeblindislit 04-20-2005 07:21 PM

IOWNU- Good luck. :thumb: you'll kick a$$ no matter what. Some suggestions are, just put alot of energy, or as much as you can, into your performance. That's what my band did, and ask sparky, we took battle of the bands home. We did everything we could possibly think of to make people go "wow!". But with your lyrics, it doesnt matter how old the other band is, it's all up to how YOU are on stage. You can do it, and tell us how it goes. :thumb:

Corupt- If you want a patch, sure . Now what's the situation with Dfelon? You should explain it, and maybe I can help you. I heard he's a cool guy. :thumb:

IOWNU200 04-20-2005 07:31 PM

thanks thirdeye, btw, do you think you could hook me up with some of your band's stuff, i don't believe i've ever heard any

thirdeyeblindislit 04-20-2005 07:36 PM

Yeah, no problem. Do you want me to email it to you? I think I can do that. :thumb:

thirdeyeblindislit 04-20-2005 07:50 PM

I have once again brought back, the UPDATED WRITER'S GUIDE TO A GOOD SONG. Read it when you get the chance. :thumb:

IOWNU200 04-21-2005 09:08 PM

we lost :upset: . We played a great show though. Where some of the other bands killed us in overall talent we made up ground in crowd support and crowd activity. In the end though, we just dind't have quite the talent.

mshort813 04-21-2005 09:41 PM

So tomorrow, my jazz band is competing in Bridewater. Actually, it's not even my band, I'm just doing a feature with the other guitarist on "Oye Como Vay." I get to miss all of school. :) And then I get to miss next Friday again for my original jazz band at school. And sometime I believe I am trying out for Newark jazz band.

So besides jazz, I'm working on a lot of stuff lyric-wise but I can't seem to put it together as a whole. I have great lines but I can't seem to connect them and make a whole song out of them. I also tried to change my style so it is not as boring and cliche as I used to write. So I may be posting soon.

And I just started a band with an awesome bassist, a decent vocalist, and a drummer that doesn't listen to anything besides hardcore. So we're pretty much limited to stuff along the lines of Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Black Flag, and maybe some newer hardcore such as Refused. I actually like playing that style a lot, it's easy to write, sing, and fun to play shows.

And that is all. Sleep.

Ha, I hate when that happens man.

I come with some great lines and try to write songs around them but it never works.

I'm thinking about pulling a Burroughs and just starting to cut and paste lines into a song. :p

I have a question guys.

If there was to be a top ten of the best S&L er's of 2005 so far, who would it be do you think? My list is:

1. Zeppelinfan
2. Pixiefanyo
3. APS
4. Sparky
5. IOWNU
6. Spectrumguitarist
7. Mshort
8. Morrissey
9. Attaboy Skip
10. Corupt (for a noob that's not to bad. Well a sort of noob anyway.)

And I have to say that one of the best newcomers I have seen is Corupt. :thumb:
And the village idiot is Thirdeyeisgod.

jurialmunkey 04-23-2005 08:28 PM

If only I was a n00b....

A_Perfect_Sonnet 04-23-2005 09:04 PM

Little known fact, zep, APS, metaliq, and corupt are all MY screen names. I just post on different ones because I have dissociative personality disorder.

I actually went to a psychiatrist about this, and now I'm on meds for it. They might take a while to work though.

Permanent Solution 04-23-2005 09:08 PM

Little known fact, Renaissance and SubtleDagger are the same person.

P.S. APS is lying because I write much better songs than him.

Ian Curtis Is Dead 04-23-2005 09:12 PM

Even lesser known fact... Jared, Burt and Jiji are actually the same person. Few know about the DBJ connection.
