Both

Shadows 01-10-2005 04:29 PM

I hope you guys aren't getting sick of my stupid questions...but what about demos? Are they acceptable?

Bartender 01-10-2005 06:02 PM

Yep, so long as it's been released in some physical form (rather than just being hosted on soundclick/purevolume, etc).

Shadows 01-10-2005 08:18 PM

Then I may do some demos by several bands aside from my previously dibsed albums.

Iai 01-11-2005 04:58 AM

Is it okay if the demo HAS been released, but is now out of print, and the band are hosting it in mp3 format on their site?

Note = own official website, not soundclick, or anything like that.

blueyxd 01-11-2005 06:00 AM

I say just do it. If you think it's worth other people hearing, it's worth doing.
I'm sure Bartender will step in if things go too far in the availability/releasedshipness aspect. For now, just realize that he's probably going as blindly into it as anyone else, except he has to make the decisions.

Bartender 01-11-2005 06:56 AM

Yeah, what blue said :) We've already had a full album reviewed that is essentially only available in mp3 form (Demilich - Nespithe), due to the band getting screwed over by their record label and getting their own back a little by giving the album away for free.

Iai 01-11-2005 07:13 AM

Same deal with Soli I Sombra, wasn't it? I think Fast Fingers did it.

In any case, point taken. One Mahavatar review coming up. At some point.

Bartender 01-11-2005 07:16 AM

Fast Fingers definitely did the Soli I Sombra review, but I don't know the story behind it. But yeah. Just go for it.

Dancin' Man 01-11-2005 02:22 PM

Yeah sort of. They just released the album for free because they wanted to get their name out and a free album is the way to do it. I didn't really ask questions, I just did it.

I've reviewed several albums that aren't available to purchase.

But the demos I have in mind...I don't know if you could buy them, but they're definitely circulating the internet.

Silenius 01-11-2005 06:01 PM

Anyone mind if I review the Emperor ep?
(I am the Black Wizards
Night of the Graveless Souls
Cosmic Keys to my Creations and Times
Wrath of the Tyrant.)

Tangy zizzle 01-11-2005 06:15 PM

Am I allowed to review a single with 4 different songs on it?

Dancin' Man 01-11-2005 07:04 PM

If they;re just remixes of the same song, I donh'[t know why you would. If you're being sarcastic, go for it.

I really don't see why not. They're available for purchase.

Bartender 01-11-2005 07:12 PM

If they're remixes, then no, probably not. Unless they're really spectacular remixes or live versions, or something. If it's got great significance in musical history (like the, as far as I know, only single we have reviewed), then go for it.

You could always do it as a review within in the review of the album from whence they came (or even better, do a review ofthe album yourself and tag a review of the single(s) on the end, as I did for my Wildhearts reviews) If there is no album album from whence they came, then there should be no problem either.

Reaganista 01-12-2005 12:02 AM

I just finished a review of John Legend's "Get Lifted" for the Paper. Hopefully I'll change it up a bit and post it on here tomorrow.

Swiftystrick 01-12-2005 08:26 AM

Can someone please review the Cd "Damage Done" by Dark Tranquility?
I've looked in many places and no one seems to have done any reviews. They are
a great Melodic Death Metal band IMO.
A song to song review would be great is possible
Thanks

That would be cool.

I can do it. It will be the next one I do since it was a request.

looozer 01-13-2005 11:28 AM

You can erase me from the dibs section. I had said that I was interested in doing those albums, but I don't know if I'm actually going to do them, or if I'll do them in the near future. That said, I WILL DO With the Lights Out, because I now own it, nobody has claimed it yet, and there is a request for it. If anyone else wishes to do it, speak now or forever hold your peace (or just post your review in my thread :p).

punkyguitardude 01-13-2005 08:02 PM

hey doods hows the noo sum 41 CD chuck?

Already been done :) Check the Reviewed List in future, before requesting, thanks.

ATC 01-14-2005 06:03 AM

right, all i'll be doing will be
Nevermore- Believe in nothing (EP) (very freaking rare)
Dust for life- Unreleased B-sides
Travis- any album not done yet

The Ashtray Girl 01-14-2005 07:52 AM

Yay, I didn't want to have to do them all myself.

No they're all completely different songs. It's a pretty important little piece o' wax actually. The first release by a certain LA hardcore punk band.

cbmartinez 01-14-2005 05:13 PM

I'm almost done with mine. You want to hold off until I'm finished or post yours now?

By the way, what are you going to label it as genrewise? I was thinking Rock/Post-Hardcore? I don't really know if they fit the formal definition of Post-Hardcore though...

Silenius 01-14-2005 05:43 PM
That would be cool.
I'll have it up sometime next week. This weekend I have too much to do.

Epicurus 01-14-2005 07:53 PM

John 5 - vertigo

Shadows 01-14-2005 07:54 PM

Is that a request?

And while I'm on the subject, I'd like to call dibs on Ion Dissonance - Breathing is Irrelevant.

I promise that 1349 - Beyond the Apocalypse and Dark Tranquility - Damage Done will be up painfully soon.
