 Nice.

I never knew you posted her by the way.

Skeletons and expendable have a slight resemblance to metallica's eye of the beholder riff. Or is it just me?

Well my favourite 'album' is decade of aggression. whether your willing to get it. =P

I already own God Hates Us All and Reign In Blood. And I would say I like GHUA the most out of those two.

So yeah, what CD should I get next?
Yea, Show no Mercy is good, but so is Hell Awaits and Seasons in the Abyss, you shouuld check those out too also, I like Divine Intervention alot and Diabolous In Musica.

But anyways, I'm I the only person who really doesn't like South of Heaven that much?
IDK its my least fvt. Slayer album, its probably cause the songs are slower and I consider it to be a big step back from Reign in Blood.

Eh, I check it sometimes. Usually I'm sticking to the Deth and DT threads though.

South of Heaven, while its slower, is my favorite Slayer album just because its got that awesome chugging heavy sound to it.

ThrashMaster27 04-30-2005 08:27 PM

I'm a big fan of South of Heaven. I think the song writings better in that than Reign In Blood. It's my second favourite Slayer album, Just behind Show No Mercy. The Priest cover is also great.

Shattered_Future 04-30-2005 08:35 PM

On a side note, anybody heard Cradle Of Filth's cover of Hell Awaits?
They do a decent job with it, i think.

I didn't know they covered Hell Awaits! That's really cool! I know they covered Fear of the Dark by Iron Maiden and did a really good job. It's not like the original. It's very Cradle, but that's how covers should be. They did a great job on that, so I'll have to keep an eye out for Hell Awaits. Thanks!

I'm with you, I love south of heaven.... and there are some brutally fast songs

silent scream
live undead

Nostalgia 05-03-2005 09:52 AM

Man I love seasons, I beleive that or hell awaits is one of there best instrumental albums, and I beleive seasons is there best lyrical album two. Does anyone know if the song silent scream is like against abortion I beleive it is but I'm just trying to make sure.

I think it is.... great song, CLASSIC THRASH

ThrashHead 05-03-2005 11:20 PM

Silent Scream
Bury The Unwanted Child
Beaten And Torn
Sacrifice The Unborn

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Silent Scream is about abortion or atleast infanticide

Embryonic Death,
Embedded In Your Brain
Suffocation, Strangulation,
Death Is ****ing You Insane

KittensInMicrowaves 05-04-2005 09:09 AM

Hey, I'd like to hear what people think are underrated Slayer songs/riffs....

I think Divine Intervention as a whole album was underrated.... and the track "Serenity in Murder" opens with the sickest riff I've ever heard just about.... the whole track is great, man I love that song

SLATANIC-666 05-04-2005 09:46 AM

It's mainly stuff from later albums that I think is underrated, stuff like Killing Fields and Circle of Beliefs on Divine Intervantion. I also like Bitter Peace off Diabolus in Musica but to be honest most of their later stuff is a mixed bag and some songs you love and some songs you hate imo, whereas the early stuff is great throughout :)

Yeah I used to love listening to Diabolus, that song Scrum rules.... but I lost the CD like a year ago and haven't listened to it since, ****, I should buy it again, only there are so many other metal CDs I want to purchase, it'll have to wait in line

Nostalgia 05-31-2005 11:35 AM

Man this thread has been dead for a while, but any way who do you guys think is a better drummer paul bostaph (spelling) or Dave Lombardo IMO watching him on still reigning DVD was amazing. Opinions?

stevo_13 05-31-2005 11:43 AM

I think Dave Lombardo is a better drummer than Paul Bostaph however they are both quite good. I like Dave Mobardo because the drumming on albums like Show no Mercy and Reign in Blood (2 best slayer albums ever) is more infleuntal, creative, and all around better than the albums where Paul Bostaph has written the drum parts. In terms of skills they are basically equal though because Paul could play Daves parts fine but when it came to writting Dave is better.

BUMP

Time to talk about Slayer again.... here is my list of their albums in order of best to worst... hoping to start good conversation here!!!

1. Show No Mercy
2. South of Heaven
3. Divine Intervention
4. Reign In Blood
5. Hell Awaits (would be 3 or 4 but the production quality is hideous)
6. Seasons in the Abyss
7. Diabolus in Musica
8. God Hates Us All

I didn't include Undisputed Attitude because that was just covers, or Haunting the Chapel because it is too short.

Suicide_Punishment 06-01-2005 05:39 PM

Reign In Blood
South of Heaven
Seasons in the Abyss
Show No Mercy
God Hates Us All
Hell Awaits
Divine Intervention
Diabolus in Musica

Suicide_Punishment 06-01-2005 05:41 PM

Does anybody know what that kid says towards the end of the song Dead Skin Mask ?

For some reason, I never got that into SITA.... and I seem to love DI much more than most Slayer fans

It's Mr. Gein. The song is about Ed Gein, a very messed up guy. Search for him on Google and you'll see what I mean.

Haha it probably is.... yeah, the kid voices are creepy as hell, I thought when I first heard the song, that it was a mistake and somebody had tried to record over the song

Apocalyptic Raids 06-04-2005 08:55 AM

I'll put in order the albums I have. Not including Decade of Agression or Live Undead.

1. Reign In Blood
2. Haunting The Chapel
3. Hell Awaits
4. Seasons In The Abyss

Also Kittens, I agree about SITA, I never really got into it that much besides War Ensemble, Blood Red and Skeletons Of Society.

You would love Show No Mercy... it is more of a traditional heavy metal sound, less thrashy, more melodic (melodic for Slayer at least, haha), check it out

Apocalyptic Raids 06-04-2005 09:32 AM

I've been meaning to get that album. Definatly one of the numerous gaping holes in my music collection.

After joining this site, the holes in my collection grow bigger daily, so many more great new acts to check out, my wallet is hurting, I need to get a new laptop and memory card, so I can just download albums

Same. I try not to download everything. Which is exactly why these holes are there.

Also, would anyone agree that Tom on SITA sounds almost bored? I get that feeling, compared to Reign In Blood or Hell Awaits.

SITA has a few filler songs I thought, which I never listen to. Hell Awaits was good, but the production is God awful, I don't know how an album could sound so crappy..... Tom's vocals were never a strong point of the band, although his wailing screams were somewhat amusing

Endless Obsession 06-04-2005 04:40 PM

Slayers NewNEW album.
