ive never seen alkaline trio live, im goin next month to see them hopefully if i can get tickets...and this question really is kinda pointless but, on the live dvd at the metro on halloween in the commentary i think its dan says something about matt just got the guitar he uses on the dvd...and i dont think he ever changes guitars on the dvd...i was wondering...do matt or dan ever switch guitars/basses live?
when I saw them at bamboozle I dont think either of them switched guitars or basses

Rubes9492 06-14-2005 09:48 PM

Yeah I saw em in Buffalo a few years back before they were big and Matt just used a black Les Paul the entire concert...pretty cool

HitHardDrums55 06-15-2005 08:05 AM

gibson or epiphone? or could u tell?

poprocks&coke 06-15-2005 10:54 AM

So I'm most probably going to the Astoria gig.

Is it going to seem really small compared to other places AND (most importantly) will I get a chance to meet them??

:D

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-15-2005 11:52 AM

You want to a punk/pop-punk band in places much bigger.

I doubt you will meet them. In fact, you won't

Rancid Dan 06-15-2005 11:54 AM

Why are they only playing Astoria and Carling festival ?

They need to come up north
gibson or epiphone? or could u tell?
When I saw them it was Gibson goldtop les paul

Firecracker 06-15-2005 03:08 PM

I want to go to the Astoria gig, but London is a bit too far on what i think it's a school night...I dunno. And i'm probably in Germany at the time.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 06-15-2005 03:09 PM

If you're at school on August 18th you are very unlucky

Thought i was wrong, i only looked at the day of the week, anyway, i can't be bothered to go to London, no one would take me.

Oz Rembrandt 06-16-2005 03:00 AM

HitHardDrums55 07-02-2005 03:42 PM

saw alk3 last night w/ rufio and thieves like us...most amazing performance i have ever seen either in person or on video (at least the alk3 portion of the show but the other 2 were good too) and i dont even hesitate to say that...simply amazing...they mixed a full band version of Blue in the Face with all of 97 and it sounded simply amazing for the closing...and some weird effect for an opener that sounded cool

Drum Boy 07-02-2005 04:12 PM

Aww man i wish they would come to Ireland! And rufio, i've seen them before supporting Offspring but love to see them again!

shangbang 07-02-2005 09:35 PM
do u have a setlist? or what did they play?
When i saw thew they played these songs

Time to Waste
Poison
Mercy Me
Maybe I'll Catch Fire
Warbrain
Clavicle
Crawl
Emma
Nose Over Tail
Blue in the Face
My Little Needle
Mr.Chainsaw
I was a Prayer
Sadie
Back to Hell

and a few more I can't remember

then for an encore they played Radio and This Could be Love

HitHardDrums55 07-02-2005 11:30 PM

i dont have one but they did this sick intro with some wierd effect i think on keyboard....
i cant remember what order they played these in but they did time to waste, the poison, back to hell, burn, mercy me, your neck, nose over tail, clavicle, private eye, you've got so far to go, radio, crawl, emma, and i cant remember what else...then matt said "this is when we run off stage then come back and play 3 more songs but its too fuckin hot for that so just imagine us going off stage then coming back" then they played 2 songs i cant remember which ones but they were older ones and for the closing song they did blue in the face (full band not acoustic) as an intro to 97 rather than the calm intro on the studio version on 97 then played the rest of that one...the lighting was amazing whoever did the lighting did a very good job and the sound quality was GREAT...best experience in my life! the only songs they didnt play that i wanted them to were sundials and dethbed but to make up for it they did everything else really awesome and derek grant is the most amazing drummer i have ever heard in my life...

when they played radio they quit playing during the second chorus and matt didnt sing so they just let all of us sing it it sounded awesome...any concert experiences u guys can share bout the trio?

mook 07-03-2005 09:13 AM

I've never seen them live but I got tickets for August 18th in London. I live in Manchester so I'll have to get train there and back but I'm excited already, they better do that Blue In The Face/'97 medley when I see them, it sounds awesome.

Untitled 07-03-2005 09:16 AM

Manchester is a sucky place to live...

mook 07-03-2005 09:26 AM

:upset:
I do agree though

Untitled 07-03-2005 09:58 AM

Shut up, manchester is an awesome place to live.

In my opinion Alkaline could never go wrong, especially not with the dream team they have made solid with good mourning {matt, dan, derek}. Every album the come out with is so much different from the last, yet still hits that high energy, thought out lyric signiture sound of alkaline. Their new CD crimson is amazing and just shows that this band will be around forever, whether its flirting with the line of mainstream and underground or not, alk3 is a band to remember.

Angry Balled Fists! 07-03-2005 01:29 PM

Welcome to the forums, great post.

After listening to every album thoroughly, i can safely say that my favourite CD of theirs is Good Mourning.
I can't see how anyone can say it isn't. It's their best lyrically and musically.
Favourites are, Emma, Continental, 100 stories, Every thug needs a lady, this could be love and blue on the face.

poprocks&coke 07-03-2005 01:48 PM

Are they going to add an extra date?

They better, goddammit...

HitHardDrums55 07-03-2005 03:45 PM

the full band version of blue in the face sounds much better live than the recording i've heard and although it is amazing, the acoustic version on good mourning is still equally sick
