I disagree there, I feel the songs on SFSGSW! aren't as good as Dave's other ones and the production value is a little low. I'm with Peace Sells here.
SFSGSW is their weakest album of their olden days. Chuck Beyher just wasnt fit for the band IMO (espically meshed between Gar and Menza) and although its a great album its not the best example of the bands sound. I do wish Jeff Young got to do more with the band, he was a wicked lead player. |
^^^yeah but I would rather have Marty, Poland, or Al Pitrelli over Jeff Young.

Ok, i just spent the time to read all ****in 22 pages of this thread (yeah i gotta lot of time, but its about Megadeth and i got my guitar by my side)... so i would like to respond.
First off, i guess I'm a "newbie" for Megadeth, only got into them for a year and i dont own many of they're albums (first one, COPY of Rust in Peace), but i've been praising them ever since and playing their **** on guitar the whole time among other things. They are freakin awesome...period! The new album is good, although i was baffled a little listening to it the first time. Not too much thrash and the chours to Die Dead Enough kinda sounded funny (backround vocals sounded kinda pop-ish, but now its stuck in my head...lol). Kick the Chair got me into it and ive been exicted ever since...some weak points on it, but i need to listen more then once. I have to say though...the instrumental..."Shadow of Deth" sounds amazing...i wish they soloed over that i would have crapped my pants. They are touring, and i must be there, as soon as there available...NYC...Megadeth, gonna be amazing...best of year probably (cept for BLS/Slayer/Priest/Sabbath at Ozzfest this year). I hope they do like Metallica and tour for like ever...come bakc again so i can go again (seeing Metallica twice on this tour of their's...they might have sold out but they put on amazing shows). I personally cant figure out why people bash Youthanaisa...it ****ing rules...as soon as i head the opening riff to Reckoning Day...i knew the whole album was solid. Reckoning Day, Train of Consquense, Addicted to Chaos, A Tout le Monde, Killing Road, Youthanasia, Family Tree, I thought I knew it all, Black curtains, and Victory (for the solo esp) were all amazing. I practically learned the entire album on guitar after i heard it. It's not Rust in Peace, but its great none the less. Rust in Peace...best album in my opinion...Holy Wars, Hanger 18, Tornado of souls, Rust in Peace...amazing (i only name those cause those are the only ones i know how to play  ). CTI also good and so is Youthanasia and the new release. I'll do the best i can to get some of the remasters that i dont have (probabaly buy em all) and then make a better judgement. I agree to stop fighting about Metallica vs Megadeth. As much as i wanna say Metallica sucks for selling out and making Load-St.anger, the first 5 albums are AMAZING...to listen to and to play. And their concerts are amazing, seen 2 so far and id like to go to everyone in the area. So far, i havent head everything Megadeth, but if Rude Awakening is any indication, their show would be ****in amazing too. As far as im concerned, Metallica crapped out and sold out...but Hetfield is still one of the best music writers i know of...as so is Mustaine (Mustaine's lyrics are extremely well written i dont know how you can think otherwise). They both "matured" because of the music industry and environment...but i like TSHF much more then St Anger...Anger sounds too 'nu-metal' and i hate nu-metal (not to mention i play lead guitar and when your favorite band at the time lets you down with no lead after previously having some amazing solos, you tend to see the big picture as a guitar player and music fan, not as a metallica fan). Lol...i guess thats enough for now, i type way to much if you havent realized yet  but whatever. Anyone know what kinda Set list we'd be getting on this tour...i hope its kinda like Rude Awakening plus a few songs off the new album. |
i have decided that no matter what type of music you like.. if you buy rust in peace.. and actually spend time and listen to it... you will become a huge fan of megadeth.. its that good of an album
|
The setlist will probably be virtually the same as Rude Awakening minus a few songs from The World Needs A Hero. I'm just hoping that Megadeth come to Australia, cause if they don't I'll be majorly pissed off. I'd like to see more songs from So Far...So Good...So What? on the setlist, but I doubt it'll happen.

dave told a french magazine megadeth are definately playing Good Mourning/Black friday (so he could prove to himself he could still play it), and then he mentioned a few other songs from the new album :smoke:
|
Sweet! Can't wait for the show, and for tixx to go on sale.
Victory (for the solo esp)
damn straight, that solo pwns! |
oh yeah, sorry for the double post, but anyone else check the Megadeth site forums, and notice that there's a total of ZERO posts EVER and there's always like 50 people viewing? Whats up with that?

You have to register to see the posts mate.

im thinking Dave will resurect some old songs he neglected in the past, much like Metallica have been doing these past two tours, and will put some of the "concert musts" like In my Darkest Hour, Hanger 18, etc...aside for a tour to allow space for some more obscure tracks. Ive seen Megadeth three times and some songs you just dont want to hear live 4 times when you havent heard your favourite song by them (in my case "99 ways to die") once so far. you get my point.
|
I Think that Megadeths best album would have to be Rust In Piece, Piece Sells...But Whos Buying
|
I really hope Megadeth do a tour but they NEVER COME TO AUSTRALIA! Grrrrrrrrrr
|
What are you on about? they went to Australia in 2001 for The World Needs A Hero tour.

James McDongough (spelling?) who was in Iced Earth and at lead guitar he has Glenn Drover who was in King Diamond / Eidion who can fuking shred, trust me...check out King's "house of god" album to hear him. James is an excellent bassiest, i saw him in april and he was incredible, i cant wait to hear what they come up with! |

I've given my guitarist friend it a few times. He doesn't like it that much. But yet I've listened to Mr.Bungle, FNM, Opeth, COB, Tool, and DT with him and he didn't like them either.  |

...yup... Okay, I have a question. What's the story with Marty, I heard he did something like tried to sell out Megadeth or something, whats the deal there? |
I don't know anything about Marty 'selling out' Megadeth...
|
Wait, Chris is still playing guitar on the tour.
Wait, Chris is still playing guitar on the tour.
for the millionth time no! lol, Chris just played on the album and declined officially joing the band. the line up is as stands for the tour: Dave Mustaine- guitar, vocs Nick Menza- Drums Glenn Drover- guitar James Mcdounogh- Bass |
well I don't know I just heard he tried to make Megadeth alternative or something like that.
Ahh...I doubt that, Dave was always running that show. Although Marty's solo stuff has diverisfied quite a bit so ya never know. |
Wow i realized that i have been missing out on some great Sh*t when the other day I bought Countdown to extinction the other day, what are other good cds?
Rust in Peace is IMO, their best. Peace Sells is also great, as are Killing is My Business and So Far So Good So What. However, those are their thrash albums, so if you don't like thrash that much, I'd go for Youthanasia, and The System Has Failed is a lot like CTE :thumb: |

I personally like Countdown to Extinction the most, then comes (yes, i know this isn't an actual cd from the 'Deth lineup, but I like it a lot) Hidden Treasures. Next comes Cryptic Writings. Yes, I know they're not Megadeth's thrash albums, but I just started into MD about a month ago, or so, and now I own 11 of their albums, 9 of them being original albums from the line. The thrash albums are yet to grow on me completely :-X As of now, though, the best thrash CD from them would have to be either KIMB or RIP. ...at least I consider KIMB to be thrash... lol |

Yeah, according to Mustaine |
