That was it. And Throwdown is definitely metalcore now.
Mos def not. :thumb:

Oh and I just heard Martyr AD on Road Rules.

cbmartinez 07-28-2004 04:17 PM

No way....

Haymaker is extremely metalcore.

shane italian 07-28-2004 04:22 PM

Seriously, if you were going to say any of their stuff was metalcore Beyond Repair would be the closest. Haymaker isn't even as heavy as You Don't Have To Be Blood To Be Family.

hookerwithpenis 07-28-2004 04:45 PM
Also, did Chad sing when he was in Shai Halud?
Yes Chad Gilbert sang on Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion. But did not write the lyrics. Matt Fox is the primary song writter for the hulud.

hookerwithpenis 07-28-2004 04:49 PM

Throwdown lost a big audience now. Bitching out and not playing "Raise Your Fist" because of the Ozzfest crowd. Or so I heard. Makes me a lil sad...

BuddyBigsby 07-28-2004 06:20 PM
Also, I have a couple questions about a7x I thought you might be able to answer. Does M. Shadows play the piano on songs like "Warmness On The Soul" (which I like now) and "We Come Out At Night?" And who does that high pitched backing scream on "The Art Of Subconscious Illusion?"
M. Shadows playing piano = It's either him or Synester, I'm not sure.

High pitched scream = Avenged Sevenfold's merch girl/M. Shadows' girlfriend.
Why were you watching Road Rules? Or MTV when Pimp My Ride isn't on for that matter?
Fool, I watch MTV all the time. Road Rules, Real World, Beavis & Butthead, all of it.

40 oz 2 freedom 07-28-2004 08:08 PM

So do I. I like watching Real World, and a lot of other shows.

Real World > Road Rules

40 oz 2 freedom 07-28-2004 08:38 PM

Fo' Sho! ^^

This has turned into a Hardcore/Metalcore community thread. I like it.

phobiaholic 07-28-2004 08:43 PM

ok, and who invented all these labels? (flame away)

just wondering where this is written in the bible of music genres?

BuddyBigsby 07-28-2004 09:01 PM

Dear Phobia,

Learn something about music.

- Sincerely, people that know something about music.

cbmartinez 07-28-2004 09:03 PM

Heheh. I still think that on Haymaker the riffs are really metal. It does kinda have a hardcore feel, I don't know.

So, the main screams heard on Hearts Once Nourished is Chad?

phobiaholic 07-28-2004 09:05 PM

i know pleanty of music, just wanting to know who wrote this stuff?

no one ever wonders where this whole stuff came from?

phobiaholic 07-28-2004 09:07 PM

i've got another curiousity(sp?), where would you put At the Drive-In?

All the singing is done by Chad anything you hear behind his are either from Matt Fletcher and Matt Fox. More so Matt Fox

cbmartinez 07-28-2004 09:12 PM

Ok, thank you.
i've got another curiousity(sp?), where would you put At the Drive-In?
I see where you're coming from. There's a lot of double bass too, which comes from metal. I don't know, to me Throwdown are borderline. I consider them hardcore, but I don't freak if someone refers to them as metalcore.

NewKindofArmy03 07-28-2004 09:28 PM

a lot of their fans didn't like haymaker because some of the riffs sounded like nu-metal. i see what they mean, but i don't really mind it.

NewKindofArmy03 07-28-2004 09:32 PM

oh yeah, i just got back from seeing a bunch of local bands and psyopus and ed gein. it sucks because most people left before psyopus and ed gein. psyopus is insane, they're very very technical, but i don't like it that much. and ed gein was pretty good but played a short set. i picked up their cd though.

BuddyBigsby 07-28-2004 10:25 PM

Yeah, Psyopus are amazing musicians, but not a very enjoyable listen. Their singer's really weak too. Ed Gein, on the other hand, rule.

Gotkookie 07-29-2004 12:27 AM

throwdown is definitley borderline hardcore, i mean hrrrm it sounds kind of hardcore yet they got the metalcore voice, and such

40 oz 2 freedom 07-29-2004 10:15 AM

Does anyone like the Banner? I recently got "Your Murder Mixtape" and I'm diggin' it.

Hey Mr. Light Man 07-29-2004 10:29 AM

Good afternoon.

40 oz 2 freedom 07-29-2004 10:31 AM

Ramonesrule?
Does anyone like the Banner? I recently got "Your Murder Mixtape" and I'm diggin' it.
I don't really like them, with the horror imagery and stuff. But a bunch of people on this board like them including cheeser and sk8ska.

phobiaholic 07-29-2004 12:26 PM
But don't worry about what's "real punk" and what's not man. Just listen to a bunch of bands, find out what you like, and just enjoy it for what it is.
Um.. shouldn't we all do this? i mean just listen to what we like and stop putting all of these labels out there, i think the majority of you guys just want to go "I'M HARDCORE AND COOLER THAN YOU, HAHA I KNOW MORE ABOUT MUSIC" but really .. shouldn't we stop turning music into fashion statements and stop judging people by what makes them feel good? (i hope this made sense cause i dont' reread much)

Good call bro. Screw the labels. Just listen to what you like...without slappnig a nametag on it..

BuddyBigsby 07-29-2004 01:38 PM
Maybe you should consider the rereading process. To use an argument I've used many time before, when people call me "a whiny fag" because I listen to emo (real emo mind you like Hot Cross) when in reality my music has more balls than the crap they listen to, their own ignorance and idiocy instigates an uncomfortable and unpleasant situation for me. Why should I have to endure insults just because the other person is wrong/a bigot? I shouldn't. This thread was originally about educating people about certain genres so that they understand what they're dealing with instead of just running their mouth. It has slowly mutated into a community thread.
Quoted because it might not be seen because it was the last post of the page.

And phobo... classifying music doesn't mean you don't enjoy it. Stop getting fussy because you don't know anything about genres.

I do, I like their ep more. They just signed to Ferret Records. They have another LP coming out on Blackside, it will have like 6 songs one of which will be a like 30 minute song.

Joey Southside (vocalist) is putting on an all NJ band fest in august, should be fun.
