KazooVirtuoso 07-30-2004 10:54 AM

I found out that the Mare "demo" was actually their debut EP, which is out now, but I had the leaked version and the leaker appearantly didn't know the titles or something...

For Isis, Oceanic is their best, but Celestial would still be a great choice.
^^^
Can you do a review of that sometime?

I'm loving Brand New a lot. They are just awesome. I dont really like their style normally, but I find them increible.
Better let Kazoo or Buddy do that one.

Luxor 07-30-2004 08:06 PM

I've been listening to Modest Mouse's The Moon And Antarctica a lot again lately... Also a lot of Cap'n Jazz and the New Taking Back Sunday album. I'm not usually a TBS fan, but my girlfriend burned me the new CD, it's decent.

br3ad_man 07-31-2004 12:58 AM

I just got two Tori Amos albums. They are brilliant. I'm in tears that I haven't discovered her earlier.

Tapeworm 07-31-2004 04:48 AM

I saw Missy Higgins at a really small gig two nights ago, and it was incredible. I can't stop listening to her EP, and the new one comes out monday.

I've been totally enamored with The Fiery Furnaces - Blueberry Boat. It's such an amazing collection of songs. The ADD-like transitions and the piano sing-a-long style is just so unique. I think this will be an important album later. Definitely my current #1 for this year.

The Ashtray Girl 07-31-2004 03:25 PM

Just got Alicia Key's first album - Songs In A Minor very cheap and I'm actually enjoying it more than I thought. Yay for piano R&B.

Amen brother, Amen! 'Tis an incredible album.

Little Man being Erased 07-31-2004 08:40 PM

I got The Streets "A grand don't come for free" about a week ago and "Original pirate material" yesterday. I love it. Mike Skinner is the man.

Tangy zizzle 08-01-2004 12:13 AM

Pluto - Red Light Syndrome has been delcared Tangy Zizzle's Official Album of The Week

Moroii 08-01-2004 01:24 AM

Unida - some songs I downloaded off "Coping With the Urban Coyote" and the Dozer split EP. Good stoner rock stuff. Cheers to John Garcia.

Also been listening to some of Slayer's earlier stuff lately.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the Icarus Line.

OrbDragon 08-01-2004 03:26 AM

Skeleton Key is a pretty cool band that I've been into for awhile. I'm also enjoying some Tom Petty songs...especially Running Down A Dream...really catchy song.

I'm really diggin Elysian Fields as well :naughty:

Tapeworm 08-01-2004 08:31 AM
Muahaha I've rubbed off on you. The Shape of Punk To Come is mindblowing ain't it! I'm glad you've got Octagon,Octagon,Octagon, those guys deserve some recogniton on here!
Oh, on the topic of The Minties, I just found out that they are playing Ric's Bar in Brissy in September. I am so excited, because Ric's is honestly the smallest venue I've ever seen. The room is like 5m by 10m. Will be an incredible gig.

Tomahawk 08-01-2004 09:42 AM

Right now I'm getting into Belle & Sebastian. I've only heard a few songs so far but they're very good.

Also, I've been re-digging Tenacious D, because I saw School of Rock the other day and it put me in a mood for some JB.

And Franz Ferdinand have been stabbing me in the ears with knives made of AWESOME. Or something. (although I'm already getting a bit bored of the CD, it's great but not really long-lasting)

Clawdaddy 08-01-2004 02:29 PM

In the last week, I've gotten 'Isn't Anything' and 'Loveless' by My Bloody Valentine, 'I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One' by Yo La Tengo, 'Psychocandy' by the Jesus and Mary Chain, 'Songs for a Blue Guitar' by the Red House Painters and 'The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place' by Explosions in the Sky. The good part is these albums are all amazing, the bad part is I don't have time to listen to them enough.

Jaded 08-01-2004 10:01 PM

I've been listening to:
Bob Dylan- Blonde on Blonde
Yes- Fragile
Neil Young- Live Rust
Slayer- Reign in Blood
Pink Floyd- Animals
Lagwagon- Trashed
Jedi Mind Tricks- Violent by Design
The Cure- The Cure (new album)

Bugger school! The Mint Chicks are a band you must see live. seriously. Just go and troop it out at school the next morning, it's easy!!

Tapeworm 08-02-2004 05:07 AM

But Br3ad, I didn't think you were above the wonderful age of 18?

Tangy zizzle 08-02-2004 09:57 PM

The Beatles - Abbey Road, has been in very high rotation in my house lately. Such a perfect album.

br3ad_man 08-03-2004 12:46 AM
But Br3ad, I didn't think you were above the wonderful age of 18?
Tapeworm 08-03-2004 06:22 AM

... You said that you were going to The Minties gig, and it's at Ric's, which is a pub.

bumskin 08-03-2004 09:49 PM

Currently going for Masterpiece by a band called Bayside. I live in the UK and no one I know seems to have heard of them. They're a bit emo-hardcore with some fairly unmistakeable vocals. Surely they sould be a bit more well known than they are.

Tangy zizzle 08-03-2004 09:56 PM

I just got Entertainment! (Gang of Four) on vinyl, it's such a good album. Quite diffrerent to Solid Gold, much more progressive and varied. I love it!

Tapeworm 08-04-2004 04:28 AM

Bum out! If you go early they hardly check ID, as it's not too strict. IT'S FREE!!!

I'm gunna try and get my friend to get her band to support. Man that would be cool.

casual 08-04-2004 08:49 AM

Lately a lot of female singer-songwriters. Aimee Mann, Sarah Harmer, Julie Miller, Patty Griffin. Then I just bought a bass so I'm listening to stuff with easy bass lines: Wallflowers, Social Distortion; and I'm listening to my old Grateful Dead tapes to see if I can figure out what Phil Lesh is doing.
