Does anyone feel like a user when you see kids with 400 friends on myspace, and then you have 39. WELL I DO.

Shtein 09-06-2005 02:17 PM

No, because I know that they don't know 99% of those kids, and only have them on their friends list because they're myspace whores.

Anarcho Poser 09-06-2005 03:18 PM

Have any of the kids on that show ever had anything to do with musical intruments?

Brain Toad 09-06-2005 03:43 PM

I hate going to Rasputin (local record store) without any money. They had the new AM! and Real McKenzies that I wanted to buy. They had Bedtime for Democracy and Give Me Convience, both of which I don't have one CD. I went cruising the used section, and they had two copies of Frankenchrist released on Alternative Tenatacles and a copy of Bedtime for Democracy! They also had some other good used punk CDs. Then in the vinyl they had Johnny Cash's first album (With His Hot and Blue Guitar) as well as the new Real McKenzies and AM! on vinyl, and the soundtrack to Star Wars on vinyl. I need to decided whether to spend my cash on a DVD Burner, or buy a buttload of stuff at Rasputin. I may split it if I can get a decent DVD-RW without dropping a fortune and have enough cash for lots of music.

I could upload Bedtime for Democracy if you like, unless you actually want to own the cd.

Also, completely Offtopic
Why does everyone bash NOFX?, it's starting to look like more and more people just bash NOFX because it's cool. They are an awesome band IMO, and they have great guitar players (for the genre) and great songwriting skills.

I have every DK release among with every bootleg that can be found, and 3 demos. I want to own the actual CD.

oh okay, I've been trying to get more real DK CDs aswell, but they're all so damn expensive.

Punk cds shouldn't be 20$ (CDN.) I don't care how old they are.

Brain Toad 09-06-2005 04:35 PM

All mine have been about $15 USD. The used ones I'm getting at $8. And I rather buy them on AT then the remasters on Manifesto.

yeah, remasters suck. even though they're usually cheaper/occasionaly clearer then originals.
/has never heard a DK remaster

Is this Rasputin place the only CD store near you? because if it's the same situation as it is for me, Encore Records (my local store) is the only store near me that stocks independant label stuff, so they charge nosebleed prices for it.

Rasputin is the only real independent around me, but there is others reasonable distances. It is actually a small chain that started up in Berkeley. There is one in my city, but the one in another city, where my college is and where I went to today, is better and has better selection of punk and ska.

If you own any DK albums, they are remasters unless they say Alternative Tentacles on the back. Once they broke up, EBR and the other members remastered and re-released all their albums, plus the two live albums

I'm not sure, I haven't been able to compare them because AT released ones are few and far between. There is probably a little. And I'm pretty sure if you were able to get your hands on In God We Trust when it was an EP, it would sound a whole lot different then the one that has been compiled into Plastic Surgery Disasters.

You actually have a PSD without IGWTI tacked onto it? You bastard!

Drop The Baby 09-06-2005 04:46 PM

f'uck you american guys are lucky, i'd guess the average DKs cd over here would be around £15-16 which is about $32

yeah, probably.

I jsut know because of experiences with ozzy, where when he remasters an album, he really means re-mix with new musicians and his old vocal track.

Oh well, soon I'll be able to get myself Bedtime for Democracy and Frankenchrist on AT. Hopefully the Frankenchrist still has the Giger poster.

sketchyjoe 09-06-2005 05:19 PM

I have Frankenchrist but it just has a section in the liner notes detailing the events surrounding the trial.

spooky

EDIT: Dead Kennedys were put on trial for, what was it again? "Allowing corruptful material to fall in the hands minors?" or something? It was one of the PMRC's fundamentalist adventures.
