"i didnt c one n e where so i thought i could make one what do u guys think of classic rock???? i think its awesome, my favs are led zepplin, ac/dc, ect"
That'd be a good first post, cause we would still get the first page quoters, and they are always fun to mess with. |
I don't mind subtle references, but please, none of that lame pun crap.
Yay, I love being an elitist. |
Wtf just happened....I posted,"o rly," to SOP, and it appeared before his post....
|
o rly?
That joke is deader than the owl that it's based on. |
Yay, I love being an elitist.
 Apologies if I came off as being an elitist, but I just don't like the puns in threads nowadays. I like how the Beatles thread is remaining "The Beatles" just like maybe this thread should be just "Classic Rock". Plain and simple. |
It was nigh 2 years ago today
Sgt. Schyma taught the regs to say What they thought of music out-of-style But they love digressing once a while So may I introduce to you The BAMFs you've known for both these years Sgt. Schyma's Classic Rock Club Thread! /first post owned by Trav |
Why don't we name the new thread The Slug Experience?

I don't think two threads could have the same name, so we would have to get this one changed or have the other one something else. Classic Rock Revisted isn't really a pun is it? I mean its a thread that we are "revisting" because the other one is gone, we could just go with CR Part II or whatever. Ugh, I don't care so I dunno why I'm offering sugestions. |

The post order keeps getting messed up *cocks eyebrow*

If I hear that song Beautiful by James Blunt like 4 or 5 more time, i'm putting a bullet in my head. Case closed.

I would report it but I find it amusing. Like drunk guys staying in a single file line....on ice.

Ferwada's up to something. :suspicious:
If I hear that song Beautiful by James Blunt like 4 or 5 more time, i'm putting a bullet in my head. Case closed.
Is it that one that goes like YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL! *voice cracks* because yeah, I agree with you. |
I hate all of the corny names for the other threads.
|
I hate how all the thread names got changed to really corny ones.

Wah hey, space time continuum much? What? |
Ya, I couldn't stand for one of those names. I mean when I think of CR Revisted I don't think of Bob Dylan or anything.
If I hear that song Beautiful by James Blunt like 4 or 5 more time, i'm putting a bullet in my head. Case closed.
Me too, its not the song thats bad but its his voice that drives me nuts, not to mention its on rotation every 2 mins on radio.
I hate how all the thread names got changed to really corny ones.
The Zeppelin one is the worse I think, mostly because I liked that thread before it got the name change. Thread Remains the Same. Gag, thats just horrible.
http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11503902#post11503902 Wah hey, space time continuum much? I love the name changes. I didn't realize Thread Remains The Same was ironically hilarious until recenly, but most are good. The problem is when the threads have debates about the names, they always seem to pick the corniest one :p
I still think we need kind of a funny name, something that is reminescent of this thread. |

The Hippie House: It's simple, it shows that we're a community and shows we like Classic Rock.
We should stop spamming, me thinks. :-/
I highly agree. It's getting so it's hard to post and this place is beginning to look a-lot like the Pit. (which is a very bad sign) Let's please try to cut down on spam. I'll start off a topic: At this moment, what is your favorite album of all time and explain? I'll post mine tomorrow. I'm going to go token', then I have the plan of retreating to my dreams. |
Being 2:30 in the morning and I've got that insomnia-high, I'll start off.
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd This whole album is just perfection. Each of the five tracks are 5/5 stars without a doubt, and as the sum of its parts, WYWH is I believe my favorite album. Here's why. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) This epic starts off the album with a slow, constant fade-in of a beautiful sustained organ, with little chimes and things tinkling in the background. A low wooden flute comes in with a lilting melody, eventually switching seamlessly to an electric guitar playing one of my favorite guitar intros of all time as the organ slowly works its way around the melody. The weeping guitar continues for all too short a time, fading out the first movement to a breathtakingly simple, penetrating 4-note riff: The "Syd Theme". This riff is repeated until Mason's driving drums slowly but surely drive the listener's heartrate up to a climax, where Gilmour continues the riff interspersed with little specks of the intro, and breaks into an all-new solo as the organ seamlessly takes over the Syd Theme. Mason's perfect percussional harmony only adds to the atmosphere. Of course, Gilmour's solo makes the section, with some of the most emotional playing I've ever heard. The music eventually shifts back to the wooden flute, with Gilmour and Mason now playing, until after an interminable pause that the listener at first believes is a shift to the next movement, Gilmour pulls out yet another heartbreaking solo from his hat. Finally after the next pause, Waters' amazing lyrics kick in with "Remember when you were young?" then one of the best parts of the song, the laugh. "You shone like the sun," Gilmour's riffage segue into "Shine on, you crazy diamond!" The heartfelt and emotional lyrics continue with Gilmour's sharp fretting for too short a period, leading into a short small instrumental jam focusing around a slow simple piano crescendo, which leads into a somber sax solo, eventually fading to a rumbling, which leads into the next track. I'll do the rest later, I'm going to attempt to go to sleep now. |
psh. you all know mine.
jeff buckley - grace (legacy edition) everything about this album is perfect to me. im just gonna get that out front right now. the only semi-weak track is corpus christi carol and that's only because it gets fairly boring. hell, even the bonus disc is gold. it adds a lot to the original album's already overflowing cup of awesomeness. the strong points are the good quality version of "forget her," the cover of "mama, you been on my mind," the road version of "eternal life," and "kanga-roo." even if the other songs on the cd were crap, which they arent, those tracks i mentioned would completely cancel the crap out and redeem it in full. the most beautiful album i've ever heard. |
I think I could open the new thread, cause if I stop posting here, I'm gonna need something to remember me by.

So two friends and I were at perkins tonight and the conversation was pretty much fixated entirely on music. They're both big punk fans, and a couple times I got completely lost and it made me realize I've really got to hear more punk, just for the sake of open-mindness. Needless to say, I was pretty relieved when I got the conversation shifted towards Zep and Floyd.
