Do they still have their original line-up?
Well, I just got done listening to the title track and it was pretty badass. Geddy Lee is incredible.
Ya they all orginal. They had a drummer before Peart but he was replaced after the deput. |
I don't like Rush. Just can't stand Geddy's vocals. Very talented band, but Geddy's vocals ruin it for me.
I'd like Kid A. I've been hooked on OK Computer recently and I could use more of their stuff. |
I was gonna pick up Ok Computer today, but they didn't have it. I was pissed, they had every other release of theirs.
Tears is a really good song. |
I think I'm finaly discovering the greatness of All Things Must Pass it's really good but I wish they would've cut the jams off the end.
Did anyone just watch the dunk contest? Robinson jumping over Spud was pure classic. I don't think he should have won though he just got sympathy because of his height. Ray, what are your thoughts? (assuming you watched it) Since we are approching the near end of this thread (post# 57274 and 60,000 is usualy the limit) I was thinking since we're so close to nearing the 2nd aniversary (March 16th) of the thread we might aswell begin the new thread on that date and keep the aniversary going and also to have a set date on when we should get ready on what we're puting into the first post. I don't know I'm just throwing around ideas. Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good? |
Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good?
I thought it was a horrible book, illogical all over the place, yes I know he was crazy but still.
I think I'm finaly discovering the greatness of All Things Must Pass it's really good but I wish they would've cut the jams off the end.
I hate the extended editions versions of (Hmm, I can't think of the names of the songs.. I think its My Sweet Lord and 2 others) but other then those its great. I don't have any ideas for the first post. /unhelpful The Bends is my favorite Radiohead album I think, followed by OK Computer then Kid A then the rest in no order. I actually chose the NBA All-Star Saturday over going to a party, that's how big of a basketball geek I am. AI2 pulled off the best dunk of the night (off-the-back of the backboard reverse) but he had the misfortune of using it too early, his next three dunks were good but not as good. Nate picked up more steam as the dunk contest progressed, which is why he won. Also, my ass he is 5'9, he was barely taller than Spud who is 5'6! And of course, Chuck, Kenny, and EJ made the whole night worth watching
Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good?
I read it for like my freshman English class...I don't remember it all that much but I don't remember hating it. CR-related: Maggot Brain is a pretty solid album |
I like the Foo Fighters. I don't like Rush.
"Waiting" is really funny, sorry to hear the rest of the story though Freud :( All Things Must Pass is really awesome, Maggot Brain is really awesome, but I prefer the live version of the song on One Nation Under A Groove. Caught up. |
I was actually really thinking about the closing of this thread and the new opening. I was thinking we should have decide who gets to make the new one, and who gets the last post in this thread.
Future generations will read of this thread and only wish to partake in it. It will become a classic text, matched only by the Iliad, the Bible, and the Cat In The Hat. |
Has anyone read The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger? If so, any good?
I like it a lot, although it's mostly Holden bombing around New York trying to get laid. It's philosophical, in a weird sort of sense. My history teacher quotes it a lot, and I'm the only one who gets the references. She put the opening line as one of the answers on a multiple choice for a famous first opening liner from a period of realism. (The answer was the famous "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times..." quote)
Hey, not to be off topic, but can anyone upload me Radiohead's Kid A? My freind and I really want to hear it.
Yeah, I second this. I'm getting cable tomorrow! :D
I was thinking we should have decide who gets to make the new one, and who gets the last post in this thread.
Schyma said he's gonna do it, and I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't mind. I was actually thinking the only mod who posts in here (Med) should do it.
the Cat In The Hat.
Classic.
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns has the monkeys typing.
Hahahahaha, yeah, I remember that.
I was thinking since we're so close to nearing the 2nd aniversary (March 16th) of the thread we might aswell begin the new thread on that date and keep the aniversary going and also to have a set date on when we should get ready on what we're puting into the first post.
Well, the thing is, it's a classic rock thread, kind of. It's more like a CR reg community thread. Because, really, if you go into the R&M community thread, the conversation turns to grim tr00 blak metul every few pages or so, and it's hard to keep in discussion. Here, we talk about bands we all like, and modern rock comes up a lot. I don't think we should go under the moniker "Classic Rock" anymore because we discuss way more than that in this thread. |
I've been meaning to read Catcher In The Rye for like two years now.
(The answer was the famous "It was the best of times; it was the worst of times..." quote)
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns has the monkeys typing. "It was the best of times....it was the blurst of times!??!?!" |
Schyma said he's gonna do it, and I'm pretty sure everyone doesn't mind. I was actually thinking the only mod who posts in here (Med) should do it.
I agree, I think a mod should do it. Med would be my first choice.
Edit: If he won't do it then I'd be glad to do it but if anyone else wants to do it I'm fine with letting them do it instead. |
But it's the Classic Rock thread. If anybody doesn't know the what's what by now, they should be banned and killed.
Yeah, I guess. |
I sent out Kid A and 2112.
Med would be my first choice for first post, but I really don't care at all who does it. |
Catcher In The Rye is one of my favourite books. I read it when I was like 14/15 and it made a lot of sense. Probably less now that I'm sane.
I read that when I was 12. Why would Med get the 1st post? Scyhma should get it. Or that Ac/dc 4 lyfe guy. |
Why would Med get the 1st post? Scyhma should get it.
Why wouldn't Badmoon or Lunch or someone else get it? Or did you guys decide long ago Schyma would get it? Again I don't care I just want to know about the politics of this thread. :)
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news.php?newsid=220 >_>
Exciting! I have very high hopes and I don't think he is the type of guy to let me down. |
I'll be security guard for the new CR fred opening.
The Children of Bodom thread is looking quite suspicious.... |
Why wouldn't Badmoon or Lunch or someone else get it? Or did you guys decide long ago Schyma would get it?
I don't know about Badmoon, all he does is post whenever someone discusses the Dead. Otherwise, he's out in his poncho playing hackeysack. NP: Jumpin' Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones Edit: I think Med should do it, just because out of all of us, he's the most open minded and has probably the most varying opinions. Although I don't he doesn't gay up the thread with a first post like: Welcome to the CR thread! We have a couple of rules here... |
Hahhaha

Or Coen brother films. |
NP: Jumpin' Jack Flash - The Rolling Stones
Haven't heard it, are they good? He doesn't even know about our plans to have him do this does he?
I have thought of a great way to get the CoB freds attention away from the new CR thread. We can play classical music over in the community thread, and they will all go, "hey wtf that is a laiho ripp off wtf,"and they will all riot over there.
That made me  /spam, spam, spam |

They betta not be plannin' no sabotage.
He doesn't even know about our plans to have him do this does he?
I'll IM him later.
Haven't heard it, are they good?
Not really, it just came up on my shuffle and I'm too lazy to change it. NP: Angie - The Rolling Stones |
I think whoever wants to should start the new thread. We're all hippies here, it's not like we would get worked up over who gets the honor to start the new thread. We all know we're regs anyway.
/drunk and high on the internet ftw |
Would it not be weird, if on March 23, some random nub that has like 4 posts, comes on and makes a classic rock thread
|
What's the title going to be? I liked "Classic Rock Revisited"...."Hippie House" maybe? :p
|
Sgt. Schyma's Classic Rock Club Thread?
|
What's the title going to be? I liked "Classic Rock Revisited"....
See if we can get it to be Classic Rock again.
Would it not be weird, if on March 23, some random nub that has like 4 posts, comes on and makes a classic rock thread
Not really, we'd flame him to hell, and make our own because we're bastards. I don't mind subtle references, but please, none of that lame pun crap. |
I also liked Classic Rock Revisited. It's simple and also has a CR reference to an amazing album.
