fromtheinside 09-04-2010 09:34 PM

cb, why don't you review anymore?

cbmartinez 09-04-2010 09:58 PM

i felt like i could never top my a7x review

no idk i thought all my reviews sucked, which ones did you like

fromtheinside 09-04-2010 10:02 PM

norma jean, which i just reread, but you're NEVER on the review site anymore so i guess i was hinting more toward that.

cbmartinez 09-04-2010 10:05 PM

i think the review site sucks, most of the staff writers' stuff is pretty bad

fromtheinside 09-04-2010 10:09 PM

change it up damn. but yeah i feel you. still reviewing more would give me some more insight to bands i need to check out. (i'm such a selfish person hah)

cbmartinez 09-04-2010 10:16 PM

i dont listen to stuff like that anymore really, but i have a music blog that i update occasionally if you wanna check that woosamonsaroad.blogspot.com
alpinist is fuckin great dood
i already have em.

fromtheinside 09-04-2010 10:39 PM

christsimpson 09-05-2010 05:10 AM
i already have em.
if you like Alpinist there is a good chance you'll like I.Witness and The Spectacle as well. Iskra are just universally accepted as awesome.

IgniteYourAvail 09-05-2010 05:59 AM

Ekkaia too.

whiteminority 09-05-2010 07:10 AM

what the fuck is neo-crust? is that a way for crusties to say they like screamo without actually saying screamo?

christsimpson 09-05-2010 07:26 AM

neo means new, so I'm assuming he means newer crust bands...
what the fuck is neo-crust? is that a way for crusties to say they like screamo without actually saying screamo?
I don't now. I just said Ekkaia because I saw Alpinist mentioned.

whiteminority 09-05-2010 07:54 AM
neo means new, so I'm assuming he means newer crust bands...
you don't quite grasp the english language thoroughly so i'll let this slide, but neo doesn't just mean new, it also implies a break from the original in some quality.

christsimpson 09-05-2010 08:03 AM

nice. but neo is not an English word. it's a Greek word. it means "new" in English.

whiteminority 09-05-2010 11:57 AM
nice. but neo is not an English word. it's a Greek word. it means "new" in English.
i'm glad that you know it's root, but i'm telling you what the usage of it implies in this language.

Juddybear 09-05-2010 11:59 AM
Ekkaia too.
srsly, mad underrated

Aakon_Keetreh 09-05-2010 12:56 PM

thx guys. I have ekkaia too. way good shit

someone recommend me some newer hardcore releases, lets say 2008-2010

christsimpson 09-05-2010 01:37 PM
i'm glad that you know it's root, but i'm telling you what the usage of it implies in this language.
"this language" meaning what? American? because in no English dictionary I have ever encountered does it say that neo is used when a "break from the original in quality" occurs. imply whatever you want. the word still means "new". so will any dictionary tell you.

christsimpson 09-05-2010 01:37 PM

Anglachel 09-05-2010 01:48 PM

i thought neocrust was some way for crusties to distinguish their music from hipster crust using violins n shit

Aakon_Keetreh 09-05-2010 02:26 PM

whiteminority 09-05-2010 02:35 PM

do you have to fucking argue about everything? i am 100% certain that i have a better understanding of my NATIVE language than you do. i'm not trying to give you shit or bust your balls, but this would be like me trying to tell you you're wrong about the meaning/usage of a norwegian word.

feel free to correct my usage of the Norwegian language if it's wrong. I'd appreciate the heads up.

you are absurd.

so i saw the rival mob last night in richmond. band is fucking awesome live, if any of you get a chance to see them i highly recommend it.

Anglachel 09-05-2010 03:12 PM

christsimpson the dicitonary isnt always that quick to fit word definitions to the vernacular

Iluvatar 09-05-2010 05:10 PM

christsimpson is right, though. neo is often used in the sense he describes and is also more accurately used in that sense as well.

whiteminority 09-05-2010 05:27 PM

neo is more often used in a sense that something is new but is different in some sort of fashion from the original.

i.e. neo-feminists and feminists are both labels that can be used for similar but slightly different groups.

and accuracy of a word is based on a dictionary definition as opposed to common vernacular usage which is what i am getting at. why would you say neo-crust in reference to more recent new crust bands as opposed to just new crust bands?

Iluvatar 09-05-2010 05:49 PM

this is a case of the english language being redundant and stupid more than anything

this coming from an english major D=
