i just thought i was too thick to bypass the filter

but it's not fucking clever to swear a lot

spirit 10-03-2010 06:36 AM

Muse do indeed put on a stunning live show. Shame their music has been shit of late.

i've not bought their last couple, i found what i heard was a bit cheesy. but when you hear it live you kind of get it, it just translates so much better live with all the flashing lights and shiny things

They shouldn't have to qualify their music with shiny bells and whistles. If it doesn't stand up on its own, it's not good. Of course, as ever, to each their own.
the censor was removed like weeks ago gice
But it's been the biggest change round here for a while. Which goes some way to describing this place.

spirit 10-03-2010 06:53 AM

Anyone know why they did it?

Exactly - one of the things that annoys me most about tool is that their stage shows are so bloody flashy and they themselves have almost zero stage presence.

Squirrel 10-03-2010 07:45 AM

muse were good until they started writing all their songs about space

purple_hazer 10-03-2010 11:07 AM
Anyone know why they did it?
i personally think as a cheap ploy to either get more people on here or to keep the ones that havent left yet

jaklyons 10-03-2010 12:19 PM

I had to screencap this. It was too perfect.

you can argue the toss of course but a live show is about both good music and a good show, way i sees it anyhow

Kuffuffled 10-03-2010 12:59 PM

Tool is pretty good live. I don't need them to rock out in-order for me to enjoy the music. Although it really seemed like Maynard didn't even want to be here when they played

Muse's 2nd last record (blackhole something or other) only half the songs were good, and on the last one it seems they've found a formula to pump out songs without trying anymore. I like them but they get pretty repetitive after awhile

Papa Shank 10-03-2010 04:12 PM

Hello all. Muse are okay, I preferred a lot of their older stuff.

Anyone else find that the cure to a runny nose is flu capsules and copious amounts of alcohol?

Kuffuffled 10-03-2010 04:27 PM

Bro if I drink while I'm sick it's like sick x10

motogrifo 10-03-2010 07:19 PM

the new stuff is awful, only nuclear star collision is decent...
The older stuff is win tho, and they played almost the whole Absolution and some good oldies like plug in baby :D it was a great show.
The thing is that live they not only look, but SOUND massive, Bellamy has an incredible voice live also.

JoshIsNumber3 10-03-2010 10:17 PM

nah the resistance is pretty great, nice production and song writing with a great sense of urgency in the tracks nevermind how great the final 3 tracks are.

Junooni 10-03-2010 10:25 PM

just turned 20. got gray and red hairs coming in on the sides and beard. i feel old.

Kuffuffled 10-03-2010 11:11 PM

I have the odd white hair in my hair and still can't grow a beard for like 5 years

I am 22

Blue_Moon 10-04-2010 12:47 AM

24 and can barely grow a half mansized beard,

someday.... someday

guitarbaz 10-04-2010 01:40 AM

however, one band who have neither a good live show nor good music is the KOL

just can't get why they're so popular. they're arse. first album was killer but they've just got worse and worse since.

and am i ever sick of people asking us to play sex on fucking fire. every bloody gig......gah

Aaron 10-04-2010 01:58 AM

I just finished a mad air-guitar sesh. Is 24 too late to start playing?

Sad But True 10-04-2010 02:21 AM

Everything Muse did after Absolution was poor IMO. I like Tool's live shows. KOL are utter tripe. I'm 22 and have an awesome beard.

In other news, I has a music video, it's not bad for a freebie, have a gander for me pls?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9NFD7xcbBk

BTW, awesome beard does not feature in video, I'd just trimmed it.

jaklyons 10-04-2010 07:45 AM

Yes, and Muse have only one of those in full, and it ain't the music.

The_Mop 10-04-2010 09:46 AM

Alex Coleman with eyeliner. Well I never.

Also - new tune in the works. Would like to hear what you guys think - here be it! Called HeavyA:

hey now, I didn't want to, I was told it was what everybody did in videos to make their eyes stand out or some bullshit then some wench plastered makeup all over me (which I proceeded to sweat off my face within a matter of minutes, hence why I look like I've been crying with mascara on)

/listens

I likes a lot. Lovely tone, what you running, GT-8 still?

The_Mop 10-04-2010 09:59 AM

Yeah, still the GT-8. No EQing or whatever on the guitars, just triple tracked and panned.

The weird clean guitars at the end are my normal clean tone and ModDelay from cubase, I think that's the only tweaking on guitars that isn't GT-8.

Awesome man, I really, really like it. Also, I command you to finish Ionosphere, that kicks all kinds of ass.

Also, make an album of this stuff. I want to listen to a Vector Monitor epic prog album in my car at high volumes.

AG 10-04-2010 12:25 PM

Urgh, I feel like shit today, and came home early from work.

Also, got me a phone interview for Games Workshop Manager. Sweeeeeeet.

Heh, cheers dude. Ionosphere is pretty much finished, gonna leave it alone for a while now so I can have some fresh ears when I get back to it. But it won't be long, I hope.

I've actually got two tracks in the works, so I think by the end of maybe a few months time I should have enough material for an EP. Mebbe not an album just yet, but hey, it's great to know that someone's interested!

It kinda sucks here though because no-one I know in newcastle is actually willing to be in a band that makes original material, and the one bloke I know that's interested back home is 150 miles away most of the time :( So I just gotta keep doing my own thing for now...

JoshIsNumber3 10-04-2010 02:09 PM

only women can't grow beards

Squirrel 10-04-2010 02:33 PM

i'll jam with you Mop

The_Mop 10-04-2010 03:15 PM

Awesome, pretty much just finished HeavyA. Cheers for the positive response guys, was good as motivation :P
